On November 23, 2023, Princess Charlene of Monaco visited the Cap Fleuri Residence for the elderly, accompanied by volunteers from the "Chien de Coeur" association. Cap Fleuri is the Principality's historic retirement home. Built in 1943, it was used as a place of rest and recovery by then-sovereign Prince Louis II.

  1. I don’t love the length of the sweater which I think is cut too short by the designer (on model and Princess - both would look svelter with a more classic length ) and I don’t particularly love the colour in general … BUT on the other hand I LOVE this outfit which is so simple and approachable for this type of visit. The scarf we don’t often see on Charlene and it brings a lift to the brown tones. For my eye this is one of Charlene’s most appropriate and simplest outfits ever, topped off with a beautiful smile. - AnneLise

    1. A beautiful smile indeed, I too like the scarf. You can see the joy she is having with the residents!

    2. This length is trendy, yes going from end to another after the oversized.. I like this outfit.

    4. The sweater has normal classic length. Don't know what you are talking about.

    5. With all respect @Louise, can you remind me of the normal length for a sweater and/or pullover.

  2. I am not a fan of Emilia Wickstead, but this sweater is gorgeous. It has the right length to wear with wide trousers. The camel color goes very well with the color of her trousers.

    1. I am lacing up my very feminine boxing gloves. You will be happy to hear they are a lovely shade of pink. I am just itching for a fight over yet another unnecessary (I would like credit for refraining from calling it worse things) comment about Charlene wearing black. Pick something else to dislike about her if you must blather on. This subject has been beaten to death. @M, you stick to your colorful wardrobe and be happy. If you ever ask for help because you wore cheerful colors to a memorial and were lambasted for it, I would probably lace up my proverbial gloves in your defense, even if I didn't agree with your choices. We all deserve a right to choose what to wear. It is rarely WRONG, but a matter of personal opinion and fashion and style choice. Embrace your rainbow, and allow others to embrace the other end of the color spectrum, respectfully.

At last one Anonymous comment in faultless English so I''m sure I'm writing back to a totally different woman from that usual sobbing, tearful and ever- mourning black- focused nuisance!
Dear@ Anonymous 01:49, I applaud your great comment, thank you!
I think you know by now that your words will be misunderstood and reversed so don' t worry...the mourning woman does not catch them easily...

      Calm down, calm down girls.
Violence is not going to get this sorted out.
But if it has to be like that, could you confirm if the seats in the front row will be expensive and if they’ll be selling peanuts? 😁
There’s enough “biddies” in my street to hire a bus to get to the event.
They all love a good old punch-up.
Gives them a break from gossiping 😀

      Dear @ Deadeggs,
just a little contribution from me.
Yes, there are affordable front row seats, a huge amount of peanuts( they are never enough), the bus and great fun for everybody.
Oh, spirits and wine are free, a real triumph for all the biddies and a solace for their love pains.
Only the best for them, you know😁👍

    6. Dear P. the original.
With me and by bus load of blood hungry biddies, they can put up the SOLD OUT sign as soon as they want to 😁

  4. J'aime beaucoup son style de pull camel à mailles torsadées ; bon choix que son foulard qui apporte une touche de contraste !

  5. The scarf is the star here - really beautiful on HSH. Trousers are fine but the jersey / cardigan is just too mumsy on her. I don't care if it's Emilia Wickstead - it has the whiff of retirement home and mugs of tea. A soft cashmere cardigan would have worked better, I think.

    1. Exactly … she was visiting a retirement home and drinking tea, with the residents. I think that outfit makes her so relatable, which I think counts most of all! (Grace)

    2. Good point! But SHE'S not in the retirement home, quite yet..... :-)

    3. On the contrary @Hope the cardigan is worn by teenagers this season. It does not look mumsy at all. Soft cashmere that is what grand mothers wear (me too).

  6. Love this casual but ever so chic look from Charlene! The added scarf with soft blue in the design made the outfit. Its the perfect outfit for her visit--she knew she would be bending and stooping to interact with the residents so trousers were a perfect choice. She looks so beautiful here.

      Indeed, Ava.
This was a splendid and heartwarming visit.
      P. Charlene radiates warmth and Is so genuinely involved in making all the guests feel at ease with her.
I'll decline my fashion review for this time as it Is all about her beauty coming from within that Is capturing me now.

  12. With her New Zealand background, I hope Emilia Wickstead is using the best of New Zealand Merino wool.
I love baggy wool jumpers as psychologically, I feel warmer and they help me to hide that little tummy bump which has become a problem as I’ve got older.
    But I hate baggy pants.
So girls and boys, that’s the end of my love/hate list for the day.

  13. I think Charlene is just a beautiful young woman and it is wonderful to see her enjoying her visit with the residents at their village
As for her attire? So what ! Look at the person instead

  14. For my taste, black is much better for Charlene. As a matter of fact, anything ist much better for anyone than massive blergh (except for pants). Thankful for the scarf, it does what it can. (GM)

  15. Pss Charlene of late seems to have grown into her role. She embody the role of Princess of Monaco. Her serenity is not something someone can feign. So good to see.
Fashion wise. I love the EW jumper. The colour is perfect with the trouser, and the scarf gives the look a pop of colour. Bea

  17. There is something very tender in these photos, perhaps underlined by the soft colours of Charlene’s outfit. I much prefer this relaxed look to the styled, more official moments, which are of course necessary.

  18. Charlene's hair is really nice right now. I hope she continues to wear it like this and not do some crazy, wired hair cut again.

  19. She looks fabulous... Let's hope she NEVER reads these comments as they can be downright soul destroying, uncalled for and mean. We all have different views on what looks great, and surely it is in our capacity to still comment with a measure of personal dignity and kindness.

    2. Hi Shazzy, thank you for your comment! Yes there’s every possibility various royal women and worse, their kids, bump into these posts and these comments. Above all we should be kind. The comments on this blog are on the whole innocent and kindly written but there is a trend over the last 5 ish years to be (1) more attacking of each other ( when someone doesn’t like what you’ve written, and this is notable on the Meghan posts); (2) to criticise the wearer versus the fashion; (3) to state a personal opinion which would likely hurt the wearer if she saw it but to defend self when others say “not nice” with comments around freedom of speech. But above all we need to remember we have no “right” to criticise people we don’t know, and that indeed the Royal ladies can read this all as easily as we can. Be kind should be our number 1 self imposed rule here! - AnneLise
