On November 22, at the Grimaldi Forum, all the students of the Preparatory Course of Monaco (334 children) took part in an event of Drowning Awareness Day, in the presence of Princess Charlene of Monaco. The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation organizes local large-scale events every year for that day.
Organized by The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation in partnership with the Department of National Education, the Monegasque Red Cross and the Police Maritime, the event aimed to raise awareness among young people about drowning prevention outside the water, with theoretical and practical workshops in the classroom introducing the equipment used in the event of an accident and the first aid gestures that can save lives.
The children also attended a reading session of the book “La Magie de l’Eau” by its author, Mélinda Guery, of which the Foundation is a partner. This illustrated, poetic and educational work inspires the youngest to learn to swim and gives them the tools to better understand the aquatic environment.
J'adore voir Charlène heureuse au milieu de tous ces petits bouts ; belle combinaison du noir et du rouge qui est parfaite avec sa blondeur !
ReplyDeleteshe looks great. the cape neutralizes the black well.
ReplyDeleteLove her blonde hair
DeleteI like everything about this outfit, incl the hair.
ReplyDeleteHRH Princess Charlène is always so warm-hearted in dealing with children! I feel so sorry for her that she looks so unhappy. She has a big heart and a lot of love to give. But the very very outdated court protocol makes her unhappy!
ReplyDeleteActually for the past few recent events, I thought that she has been looking the happiest I've ever seen her.

About looking happy or unhappy, she might not always feel comfortable since it is sometimes pointed out that she hardly speaks French. Maybe, but never heard any evidence.
DeleteThe comments about Princess Charlene not speaking French are always about.
DeleteNobody knows what her level of French is. There has never been an official statement made by the palace about her fluency in French. There has never been a publication of her efficiency level in French. What we know can only be speculation and guess work.
I've been down the road of having to learn a foreign language as an adult student and I was/am in the 90% or so of adult students who never got to the level of speaking fluently.
I've read where it's only about 5% of adult students who can reach a fluency level.
One of the handicaps is the fear of speaking and making mistakes. The result is that you don’t use your new language a lot and feel more comfortable speaking in your mother tongue.
In the end my teachers forced me to speak with my mistakes and helped me not to worry about people laughing, making malicious comments and mocking me.
IF Princess Charlene is not speaking a lot of French, she may be in the same situation I was in .
Can you imagine the field day the international and gutter press would have if she made a mistake whilst speaking an important discourse.
I hope this is the situation and she is not giving the critics the chance to make fun of her fluency level.
With her kids, it will be a win/win situation. They will learn English from their mother and their mother will learn by just listening to her kids.
I hope both Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella speak English with a nice South African accent.
NOTE my comments are about adult students learning a foreign language.
No connection whatsoever to young kids and adolescent students learning a foreign language. A different ballgame.
Feeling rather neutral about the outfit - neither love it nor hate it. Too distracted by our lovely Princess, all wreathed in smiles. A smile, after all, is one's best accessory (as my Granny loved to tell me).
ReplyDeleteLike Hope, I’m neutral about the outfit but love to see Princess Charlene in her element and looking happy

I do not think she looks unhappy at all just enjoying what she does best and that is to educate children on how to swim. Like she said of all the thousands of photos taken of her the ones that get in the press is when she is not smiling. Leave her alone. she looks lovely by the way!
ReplyDeleteVery nice again today. She loves events with children. css
ReplyDeleteShe looks so lovely, sincere and engaging. Love the outfit.
ReplyDeleteBoots would go well with this outfit and at the same time, keep her feet warm.
ReplyDeleteLove Charlene's outfit--chic and appropriate for her event. She's looking wonderful and relaxed, enjoying the children.

ReplyDeleteI agree, BUT
knowing/speaking French or not, who cares, the Grimaldis very perfectly speak English (HRH Princess Charlène's mother tongue) thanks to their mother Grace Kelly. The evil is the court protocol which is more than outdated; HRH Princess Charlène is THE ONE AND ONLY First Lady of Monaco, which EVERYONE = ALL members of the House of Monaco should remember...
Maybe she is also speaking Afrikaans which is the other official language of South Africa. She should come to the Netherlands and Belgium (Flanders) where she could speak that language. Everybody who speak and understand Dutch can also understand Afrikaans.
DeleteGood point.
DeleteI’ve read where it’s been said that Princess Charlene does speak Afrikaans .
The critics who make their comments about Charlene SUPPOSEDLY not speaking fluent French, should have a go at learning Afrikaans to a fluent level.
Would be interesting to see if they could arrive in the 5% or so of adult learners who achieve a fluency level.
You are right. It works also the other way. Someone who is speaking Afrikaans can also understand Dutch (another language that is not easy to learn for many people).
