Princess Kako looks very stylish in her white deux-pièces. Although always a bit classical in her looks she tries to give a twist to her clothes to give them a more modern video. With her shoes in general she could do better though.

    1. I fully agree, real improvement regarding more modern style, while maintaining classical look. Congratulations. We should refrain from judging with "our eyes".

  3. She's still in Peru! The best oufits she ever wore, if only the last outfit had a belt

Princess Kako has represented her country really well during this trip. I like all the outfits here today. Simply beautiful.

Firs white outfit is beautiful. The wider skirt makes it look more youthful than the ordinary ill-fitting straight skirt the imperial household favours. Love the number hat, very chic.
The blue dress has stunning embroidery of cherry blossoms but looks a bit too big especially the sleeves.
Great to se another gorgeous kimono and this time we get a better view of the intricately knotted obi.

    1. I agree.. All outfits are both smart and flattering and (relatively!) modern. The white outfit with the short jacket and flared skirt excellent. Makes you think that the Japanese royals are slowly moving towards a more up to date look.

I do like all her outfits for all the events, but the kimono is truely sensational

Princess Kako chose beautiful colors that suit her very well. But in my opinion, the outfit would look better if the skirt on both the white and off-white dresses was narrower - more fitted. and shorter - cut to the knees.

Never commented on Japanese royalty before, and will not again after this. The intricacy and beauty of Japanese traditional clothing is visually an impressive sight. However, the royal ladies' 'daily' wardrobe is, although impeccably tailored, eternally stuck in the 1950s/1960s; no point in talking of fashion and style and design.

  11. I like all of these outfits very much. Simple, timeless, flattering.
The first and the last outfit would have looked even better with a shorter hem, just below the knee, the blue one possibly even slightly above the knee as a sort of mini dress, though I´m sure no Japanese princess would ever wear that. Anyway, she looked very nice. Good choices all around, given it´s springtime in Peru.

The white outfit could be beautiful. The dress is too long. The big fold in the front part of the skirt is not a good idea. It stays in place when she does not move. Once she starts walking the whole look is very Japanese again, not to speak about the ugly hat.. It looks like the fabric of the dress is rather stiff, a thicker cotton material perhaps. The light blue dress is also too long and the skirt must be made narrower. The white shoes make me think of those women in Europe used to wear in the 50-tees.

    Sweet lovely princess.
We know the Japanese clothing style is different, but I love her white dress and jacket combination with the kind of school-uniform hat.
Her traditional Japanese dress is stunning.

    Love the Kimono!

The blue dress could be better fitted.

Princess Kako looks delightful in all 3 outfits. I'm really liking her in a sophisticated up-do.

I don't understand why others criticize the styling, just because it's different. It is not the objective of Japanese royalty to look "sexy", and I am on board with that. Respect and courtesy are important in the Japanese culture and I see the princess embodying that.

Why should she wear pointed stilettos that no woman can truly walk in comfortably, if at all? Why should she wear a mini skirt? She is on an official mission, and is surrounded by middle-aged men. Flirting is not part of the agenda. S.M.

    1. @ SM So all the other royal ladies who are dressed up-to-date and wearing stiletto's are trying to look sexy and are flirting ? It is almost 2024 you know.
By the way there are trendy shoes which are not stiletto's and making a dress a bit shorter is not the same as wearing a mini-skirt.

    2. Dear S.M, I totally agree with you. Japanese culture and customs, also embodied by the Imperial Family, cannot be compared with Western styles and customs and I find the unfounded criticism by many here very unjustified. I wonder what the dignified Imperial Family thinks about some of our royals and princely families with their extra-long slits, over-exposed body parts etc. etc. I prefer not to know.

    3. @ SM & Virginia. You realize that the princess of Wales also wears dresses with slits and stiletto's. If you have beautiful legs why not show them. I prefer a dress with a hemline around the knee than ruin a beautiful dress because it is too long. Especially when a woman is not tall. I'm also wondering which queen or princess is wearing dresses in which some body parts are over-exposed ? I must say I do not find one. Do we have to wear high closed necklines again and skirts that are reaching the ground ? You could also be surprised what dignified people from other cultures and customs are doing when they are in private. The royals of my country and those of the surrounding countries do not have to be ashamed of what they are wearing.
