On November 19, 2023, Prince Albert II of Monaco and his wife Princess Charlene of Monaco, Princess Caroline of Hanover and her daughter Princess Alexandra of Hanover attended the National Day Gala Concert at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The concert was organized as part of Monaco National Day 2023 celebrations.
wow Charlene! this is the best evening gown she has ever worn on national day. Caroline as always very beautiful. Alex making her debut at this event, she looks lovely
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at how glamorous Princess Charlene and Princess Caroline are dressed. I know that Princess Charlene's look is not fussy but I would like to see her wear more of the Monaco royal jewels from time to time!
ReplyDeletei dont think Monaco has 'Royal Jewels' like other royals. Grace Kelly's jewels belong to her daughter Caroline, which will be passed on to Alex and Charlotte

I remember there was a contemporary hair piece, not a real tiara, that has been made for Charlene in the beginning of her marriage. But she doesn't wear it very often.
DeleteDear FITZHUGH and Ms:
DeleteMonaco has royal jewels but one could say “modest” compared with other European houses.
For details of some of Monaco’s royal jewels with excellent photos of Princess Grace, Princess Charlene and Princess Caroline,

When I lived there, I always loved The Monaco National Day! My favorite! Congratulations to the Grimaldi Family. ❤️
Delete@deadeggs those are individual owned jewels, there is a difference!

When monarchies of northern Europe do have royal jewellery preserved even from the 17th-18th centuries Monaco's vaults were emptied from all valuables by revolutionaries during the French revolution. When the Grimadis returned they were poor. Jewellery was not the first thing to think when they started to rebuild Monaco. When the money situation improved in about mid-19th century another problem arose: there was only short periods when Monaco had a princess (wife of the reigning prince). One princess died young, there were several separations/ divorces - there was no need to have ladies' jewellery (and the divorced princesses took their own jewellery when they left).
DeleteAround 1920 when prince Louis's daughter Charlotte was named as princess hereditaire the first acquisitions were made: the tiara with pearl drops and the Russian style tiara-necklace.
The next time the collection got new pieces was in 1956, Rainier's and Grace's wedding.
I have understood that grand pieces of jewellery which are "wedding presents to the new princess" belong (or will be in the future) to the Palace Collection, whereas smaller pieces are "personal" and can be given to a specific person (eg. in a will)

Absolutely stunning! Love princess Charlène 's gown
ReplyDeleteExquisite - Princess Charlene and dazzling Princess Alexandra and followed with dignity and elegance by Princess Caroline and other guests.
ReplyDeleteEntre Charlène et Caroline, je ne peux pas dire vers qui va ma préférence ; elles sont superbes toutes les deux sans oublier Alexandra qui est toujours aussi délicieuse !
ReplyDeleteChère Tulipe ( Achard62) Princess Charlene’s bijoux (earrings?) are made up of diamonds and rubies from chez Cartier.
DeleteDear Tulipe (Achard62)
DeleteSorry but I’m back again with some info on Monaco’s jewels.
In the magazine “The Court Jeweller” July 2015, there is an excellent article in English on 10 important pieces of jewelry in the Monaco collection.
The article includes photos plus a video in French with English subtitles.
DeleteBeautiful red dress and matching lipstick. Very elegant!
ReplyDeletePrincess Charlene’s gown is a made to measure creation by the Paris fashion house DIDIERANGELO. The name was created by forming the two christian names of the designers, that is, Didier Cometti & Angelo Buonomo
DeleteDidier is Swiss-Italian and Angelo, Italian-Spanish. Both were born in Switzerland.
Together, over the last 25 years, they have produced some very off-beat creations but it appears they have kept fairly close to classic line for Princess Charlene’s evening robe.
Princess Caroline’s robe is by Chanel.
The ladies' bouquets all appear to be the same. The red and white flowers give the final touch to Charlene’s gown.
Nice to see one of Charlene’s brothers and sister-in-law included in the group (Sean Wittstock and his wife Chantell..
p.s. From me to Princess Charlene it’s a big WOW.
Our South African star is shining brightly in Monaco! Absolutely stunning Princess Charlene, not forgetting Princess Caroline who looks equally stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe audience in the auditorium are looking at the Princely family, and everyone has a straight face except Alex's warm smile

In many countries the national anthem is played (or sung - or both) during any concert-type program. To me this photo looks like taken at just such a moment. And when the national anthem is played people do not smile or laugh. They show their respect. It's the custom.

All the Princesses look great. Particularly Princess Caroline. Who are the man and woman beside Princess Charlene in picture 6?
ReplyDeleteThat is one of Charlene’s brothers, Sean Wittstock and his wife Chantell.
DeleteIf her other brother, Gareth Wittstock is there, he is not seen in any photo.
It would be nice to see the occasional photo of Charlene’s mother.
She is a very beautiful woman.
Princess Charlene's dress is so beautiful. She is the only one on these pictures who has the face to wear such a red lipstick. Princess Alexandra is not lovely with the red lipstick. It makes her face older. She should also do something different with her hair. It is too flat, a bit more volume on top of her head would be nice.
ReplyDeletePrincess Caroline's repeated dress is still beautiful. When it was new I liked the skirt too, now I only like the bodice. If the skirt was straight it would be better and more contemporary. But it is still a beautiful evening dress.
Princess Caroline's slightly darkened hair is very flattering. I hope she will continue to mute the grey little by little. She is so stunningly elegant!
ReplyDeleteAgree 100% Delighted to see that she has moved from the deadening grey which makes her look so much older than she is. (For the fans of the grey hair look, it can look elegant, Princess Benedikte for example, but was definitely not the case for Princess Caroline) I like the top of her dress but the skirt sits strangely and it could be an inch or so longer.
DeletePrincess Charlene's dress is simply stunning. She looks amazing
Charlen est éclatante de beauté de la tête aux pieds.
ReplyDeleteRobe magnifique qui lui sied à merveille avec son rouge à lèvres et vernis à ongles assortis.
Both royal ladies look beautiful. I particularly love Pss Carolines' hair up, stunning.
ReplyDeleteCharlene looks stunning, the color is great to. All RL are looking good. Alexandras boyfriend is missing? Hope they are still together.? css
ReplyDeletePrincess Charlene looks wonderful - but I so wish she would wear one of her stunning modern tiaras to these events - the Diamond Foam Tiara would have looked very good with this, methinks!
ReplyDeleteI think this is very telling that it’s time for Princess Caroline to take a step back because I feel like she’s overshadowing the Princess Consort and the dignified approach that the Sovereign couple is supposed to have towards their people and nation. It’s a bit desperate of Caroline to try to overshadow Charlene in her role as Princess Consort, there can only be one diamond, and that’s Charlene, not Caroline.
Froufrou
Caroline Grimaldi, Princess of Hanover and Princess of Monaco, is a star in her own right. She has always been one since she was born. It doesn't matter who is at Albert's side nor does it matter where she stands. There is no way to "dim" Caroline unless she simply stays home.
DeleteAnd Heaven forbid, because for culture, natural elegance and intelligence there is no one in Monaco to replace her. She and her beautiful children and their glamourous spouses are part of glory of the Principality along with Albert and his family.
It's a team effort and I love it.
Don't think for a moment that Caroline is trying to overshadow Charlene. I think she's been a brilliant support to her brother, especially through Charlene's health struggles. The whole family turning out for these occasions is lovely. Totally agree with Anon 17 40 re glamorous family and team effort.
DeleteCharlene is jaw- drapping.
ReplyDeleteRich, opulent colour, perfection made visible in her gown.
I like the way she's experiencing a new approach to fashion, blending classic and subtly daring outfits.
Dark red shades are bound to look phenomenal on blonde ladies.
The best combo ever.
Period.
Charlene always looks great in a dark red lip and this occasion is no exception. Also the dress has grown on me. She looks gorgeous.
