  1. Eblouissante Mathilde dans ce tailleur/pantalon croisé de couleur rouge en velours ; si elle porte des boucles d'oreilles, elles ne sont pas vraiment visibles ?!

  2. A beautiful outfit.
Love both the color and style.

  3. What a wonderful idea to invite these guests working in home care. They are all heroes. And Queen Mathilde looks radiant as ever in this fantastic red velvet pantsuit.

  4. It seems to be the week of colourful power suits: Letizia in red, Kate in purple, Victoria in orange and later in green, now Mathilde in this red velvet number.
I like a good suit and usually embrace colours, but I feel like it´s becoming a trend, in which case I´m losing interest. Also, Mathilde´s trousers are like 3-4cm too short. Or she needs to wear lower heels.

    1. Good observation re the week of the bold coloured suits Vanessa! But explain a little more re your comment that you’re afraid it’s becoming a trend and therefore you lose interest? Trends are such a normal part of fashion? … but do you mean, “nothing new to comment on if they’re all just wearing copies of each others clothes”? Fair enough! As for me I think this suit is stunning and could be easily dressed up for incredibly elegant evening wear - but here on Mathilde it could do with a gentler colour, or even just a soft white simple blouse to break up the boldness of the red - AnneLise

    2. I noticed that our royal ladies have worn fewer dresses and a lot more trousers. Fine with me, of course, but I don´t think it´s a coincidence. And then we have seen quite a few of these bold coloured suits, often with monochromatic accessories. Not a coincidence either.
I lose interest in trends because everyone wears what´s "in" at the moment and then it´s just endless repitition. It gets old quickly. And it takes away from personal style preferences and makes them all look similar. Thirdly, it makes the mechanisms of the fashion industry so obvious as these trends don´t come about by themselves but are the result of marketing campaigns. Like everyone wore cropped trousers, then bow blouses, then prairie dresses, then cape dresses or coat-as-cape. And now on to the trousers and trouser suits. It just seems to be the next phase coming on. Luckily, the suits are better than most of the previous trend items. If they´re cut and styled well, it´s a neat and classy look. They will likely not look as dated in twenty years as some of the other stuff (like skinny jeans for example).

Queen Mathilde looks very elegant in this deep red velvet suit. I think the pants should be either a little bit narrower or a little bit longer. Small quibble.

    1. Princess Catherine's purple trousers were too short too. Besides of one picture and from a distance you cannot see if QM's trousers are too short.

    2. I agree with your observations regarding the pair of trousers and for me a little bit narrower would be best.

    3. I agree. I think the trousers need to be longer. Smart suit but not my favourite outfit for Queen Mathilde

  6. The Queen's suit is lovely, however it is too strong of a color for her to wear.

    1. You are the first to say that Queen Mathilde cannot wear red. After all the red dresses and ensembles she used to wear in the past. I think you are wrong, everybody likes Mathilde in red.

    2. Anonymous 15.24 : I don’t think she’s wrong - I agree with her. I think with so many different reds, different tones suit different people and this is perhaps not Mathilde’s best. Using “you’re wrong” and “everybody” is tricky language on a site where there are many different opinions and you surely cannot know everybody! - AnneLise

  9. Superb suit: in colour and cut.
Only with these shoes the trousers should be longer.

  10. Hmm, it seems like there’s something a little off on this outfit. I like the color and velvet works in November, but maybe it might be better with red shoes? Honestly, can’t believe I’m writing that she should go all one color, but I think the black shoes are throwing it all off.
