On November 20, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands presented the 2023 Cultural Fund Prize at Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam. Female Economy is the winner of the Cultuurfonds Prize this year. The prize with an amount of 100,000 euros is awarded by the Prince Bernhard Culture Fund (Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds) each year to a person or organization that has contributed to culture, nature or science.
Claes Iversen Dress
Looking good. She looks good in bright colours.Neatly groomed too. Km
ReplyDeleteI like this dress and QMax looks great but...the bespoke buttons and their placement are unfortunate. I think this dress--minus those buttons--is a great choice for QMax and fits her beautifully.

Wow! Fuchsia and Orange… Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI think I’ll try it for myself. 🥰
Oooo...I like this dress. I like the combo of fuschia and red, the lacey embellishments, and the silhouette of the fit. But I'd have LOVED this dress if it didn't have all those things like Christmas tree decorations on the pink part of the dress. A few maybe, but not so many - and perhaps if they were much smaller in size..but, that's Claes Iversen for you.
ReplyDeleteHowever I do love the person wearing the dress, her smile, and the confidence that she has to pull off this look with style and panache.

A very nice dress, and color, but I don't know if I like all the little things on it, it may be uncomfortable to sit. I like the dress on the model without it. To each its own. css
ReplyDeleteWow, I love it! Excellent fit, great colours plus she’s accessorized well with the red shoes and bag, and the smaller sparkly earrings. This is a perfect match both for Q. Maxima’s exuberant personality and for the event she’s attending. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteAnyone else getting vintage Sixties' vibes with those pop-art circles that decorated just about everything at that time, from garments to bathroom tiles? But nevertheless, Maxima makes it happen and looks simply marvelous. This type of dress (cut and length) is perfect for her. (GM)
ReplyDeleteIl faut que mes yeux s'habituent à la combinaison du fuchsia et de l'orange ainsi qu'aux motifs originaux et rajout de cette sorte de boutons ; les modèles des mannequins ne sont pas mal non plus !
ReplyDeleteDelighted to see Queen Maxima back in her bright vibrant colours after a number of smart but relatively restrained outfit. This is wonderful. Great fit, perfect length and lovely bright colours. She looks fantastic
ReplyDeleteThis look is sensational; combined with her enthusiasm, her delightful smile, her lack of vanity and perfectionism, we can somehow grasp the key to her attraction. Of course there are messy performances but, I don’t really know why, one must forgive her. I just did some research, Claes Iversen is Danish but works in Holland, interesting.

Dear @Virginia
DeleteI always thought Claes Iversen was from the Netherlands.
Surprised to read that his life started in Denmark.
He was a bit late coming into the international fashion world (about 17 years ago.)
I wonder if he has ever taken Dutch nationality?
WOW.
ReplyDeleteWhat a compliment to Queen Maxima when the organizers of the event are willing to change the colour of the red carpet to pink so that it fits in with Maxima’s ensemble.
What a wonderful way to say …… “we love you Max”.
Beautiful dress, I love the colors!! She looks gorgeous today!!
ReplyDeleteLove love love this outfit she is wearing. Strong colours suit her beautifully.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress! Love the colour combination and the way the lace appliqués has been placed. Much better than on the runway models. The rest of the decorations are fun and festive.
ReplyDeleteI think this dress has come out of Maxima’s closet more than once.
ReplyDeleteShe wore it during a state visit to China, February 2018
And to another event which I can’t recall. Maybe a fellow blogger could help.
If you look back at photos, Claes Iversen has done several variations to this red dress with its lace encrustations.
IMO, Claes Iversen works well with Maxima. I think he plays on her bubbly personality to step outside the classics and create pieces with a (little) touch of controversy.
This dress definitely deserved to be worn again. QM looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteInteresting to notice that most readers of this blog didn't like the Claes Iversen dress the first time the queen wore it and that today (so far) there's no complaining about the inserts of the shoes.
Perhaps they're not the same readers now as when she first wore the dress five years ago. Or may be their opinions have changed.

Tend to disagree with most of the posts. The dress looks like something exploded and slithered colour wise down, and she did not bother to check the mirror for usual hair issues. My personal opinion, glad this is a blog where differing opinion's are put forth. Edwina
ReplyDeleteThis is a very unusual dress with very interesting features, but the Queen wears it well. I like it!
ReplyDeleteThe dress has alot going on, but I really like it. Too bad her messy hair ruins the whole look.
ReplyDeleteM
Lovely silhouette and cut, but I this dress is too much. And somehow she fits in as part of the art piece she unveiled. Her majesty gets a no from me.

Her majesty gets another yes from me.
