  1. Kate, your hair is not more important than your poppy—please show some respect and pull the ridiculous sausage curls out of the way! Every other woman looks great and has their priorities straight.

    1. What a rude comment. First of all I would never address her as Kate, second how can hair seem disrespectful and third it always matters HOW you say something. This is definitely a rather harsh way of expressing one's opinion.
I think all of them look wonderful and appropriately dressed. I would love to have such shiny and healthy hair like that of the Princess of Wales.
Please anon try to pur your thoughts into more respectful words next time.

    2. Dear Anon 22:40.
you hide your jealousy and dislike of the Princess of Wales very poorly. A strand of hair hiding a poppy, haha - when you couldn't find anything else to criticize. Look at the other photos - where her poppy is clearly visible. Mia

    3. I for one can see the poppy.

    4. Pairing long hair with a lack of respect for a poppy badge is quite a funny conclusion to draw! Catherine seems to enjoy keeping her hair long and it’s well groomed, so … good on her, eh? - AnneLise

    9. I agree with all that this is a stupid and rude comment. I will say that I don't agree with anon 08:24 about calling her Kate. That is her name. The BFR decided she should formally be known as Catherine. Her friends and family still call her Kate. We first knew her as Kate. I don't think there was any disrespect intended regarding her name, but the rest didn't need to be said and was petty.

    11. For God's sake, what a pointless post. I'm sure it wasn't the P of W intention for her hair to obscure her poppy.

Don't forget Duchess Catherine is not a goddess, she is a human being like everybody else. So don't put her too much on a "pied de stale", she might fall off.

  3. Duchess of Gloucester looks outstanding, her black coat looks divine. Her black pearl necklace and pendant, simply stunning.
Catherine looks lovely, her pearl necklace looks divine, combined with the Bahrain pearl drop earrings, lovely combination.
The Princess Royal looks immaculately groomed, her coat and silk scarf looks fabulous, so elegant. One of the few royals now that wears a scarf, I love them!
Its hard to make out what the Queen is wearing.

    2. Perfectly said, Ava. All three were perfectly dressed for the occasion. I am another who likes an elegant scarf to pull an outfit together. Kudos to the Duchess of Edinburgh for having a go at something a bit different but I'm not sure the mesh sleeves work.

    1. I would give anything for her hair, Beautifully groomed, shiny, thick. They look divine. I am convinced that 99% of women think so. You belong to the 1% percent who don't.

    2. I want to pay a special tribute to the Duchess of Gloucester. Such an elegant, true lady. Beautiful pearls.
All the ladies look elegant, appropriate and sweet, I totally understand why black dresses are required for this event. The conservatism and black color make it possible to draw attention to the essence of the event.

    1. I think Pow is wearing a necklace from the late Queen, but it looks like Anne is wearing the late Queen's daily necklace. They all look great. Prince Edward was also there, just not in the pictures published here. To anon 22:40 about PoW's hair hinding her poppy: I think this day is about much more than just about a visible poppy, no? I don't mind, it's fully visible at times also. Damsel Dragonfly

    2. The necklace of the late Queen is very valuable literally and emotionally, but it does not suit a young woman like Princess Catherine. One string of pearls would have been enough. The dress is very simple but the waist does not correspond with her own waist. Lucky she is very thin so the dress as a whole is lovely.

    3. Or maybe someone who isn’t jealous, just has a different point of view? Should we not be all allowed to have different opinions? I think we do.

It is debatable if the hair isn’t distracting from the point of the event. Some may look at it as a fashion statement and some may feel she could have pulled it back in a more quiet, less in-your-face manner given the occasion. We’re all entitled to a perspective, being polite is important. Less personal attacks (and by the way, not everyone who thinks Kate isn’t absolutely perfect is a hater. Might just be a more balanced observer).

This is a long standing tradition in Britain. The First World War made a significant impact on the country. Depending on how much one understands it, we will look at it rather differently. It is a moment to put your head down and try to feel what those who lived in those times endured. If one takes that perspective, modesty should be the main factor in making sartorial decisions. I think that the overall effect of the balcony pictures is just that. If you look closely at some of the individual photos, there are variations. Like for others, my first impression was the Duchess of Gloucester looks just right for the event. Kate's hair is distracting, but her dress is balancing some of that. I also find incongruent the matching of the pearls with the earrings. Two very different styles and toggle with the brooches and long distracting hair, there is a lot going on around her head/ neck/shoulders. Sophie picked the wrong dress in my opinion, the sleeves look tight and twisted in a rather uncomfortable manner. In the end Brigitte (Duchess of Gloucester) wins the evening for me.

    4. @ Petra. I don't know how it is in Britain but in my country November 11 is becoming each year more and more a remembrance of all the victims of all wars since 1918. It is also becoming a day when people are praying and asking for peace all over the world. The festival, the dresses, the jewelry is not necessary to remember that. In other countries there is just an official event with the king or the president, a delegation of the military forces and veterans who served in other conflicts (the veterans of WWII and even the Corean war are all passed away by now). The ceremony takes place on November 11 during the day at the statue of the "unknow soldier".
In Ypres, Belgium there is the gathering of British and Belgian veterans, Belgian ministers and delegations of the British forces. The ceremony consists of the poppy's that are falling down from the "Belfort" in Ypres and the "Last Post" that is played by the people of Ypres who do this every evening of every day.

  11. All of the BRF ladies look marvelous! Everyone looks elegant as well as chic. Its wonderful to see the Duchess of Gloucester--her necklace is gorgeous. Sophie's and Catherine's dresses are fabulous and the Princess Royal's scarf is beautiful. I wish I could see more of QC's dress but the scalloped neckline is lovely.

What a line up of perfectly dressed and classy ladies!
The gentlemen are well groomed too.
I'm really impressed by the strands of pearl worn by P .Kate, what a great tribute to the late Q.Elizabeth!
Touching and it reveals something more about the increasing amount of work and responsabilities taken on by the Waleses.
They' re more and more getting ready for the job and becoming supportive of King Charles and Q.Camilla.
Well done to all of them.
I love the Royal Albert Hall as a London landmark in itself and this time Is no exception 👍
