The Duchess of Edinburgh visited the NSPCC hub in Nottingham, to thank Jenny Farr for her decades of service on what was her 90th birthday. Jenny Farr has spent more than 60 years helping the NSPCC in the city. The Duchess became patron of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) in 2016.
Mrs Jenny Farr became an NSPCC volunteer and committee member in January 1959. Since then she has led a number of high-profile campaigns including the Full Stop appeal, which raised around £3 million by 2005. The Duchess also met the charity’s staff and volunteers.
Bally Logo Buckle Belted Wool Jacket
Probably lovely earrings on a lovely lady. As for the rest, I am flabbergasted. I think the jacket could be donated for an appropriate charity for further use in costume plays, with just one or two medals it could be the perfect military uniform. The trousers are too short for these boots. (GM)
ReplyDeleteShe's a lovely lady as you say but in total agreement that this outfit does her no favours at all.
DeleteBelle silhouette de Sophie dans cette combinaison veste/pantalon bleu-marine ; je ne suis pas fan du logo de la boucle de ceinture car je pense que le boutonnage doré suffit amplement !
ReplyDeleteNot the greatest look for Sophie. Pants are too short if they are to be that wide; jacket has too many buttons or embellishments.

Ooooh my.
ReplyDeleteWide trousers doesn’t fit well with that jacket
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the lovely Duchess of Edinburgh!
ReplyDeleteI really like this look and her styling choices.
This ensemble has a retro mod vibe and I'm here for it.

She looks very smart and chic, though I am not sure about the grey accessories, regardless she looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteJust not a flattering look. I wonder what the fascination the Brits have with military style jackets.
ReplyDeleteThis is not a good look imho. The jacket is too long and has too many buttons. The trousers are not long enough and those grey boots don't go with any of it.
ReplyDeleteAnother Sergeant Pepper moment! I like the boots, however, pants are awkward.
ReplyDeleteMrs. C
The combo of a long jacket with lots of embellishments with wide leg crop pants, especially in a shiny fabric, doesn’t work. The proportions are off to make these pieces work together. The boots are nice - color, suede, higher heel - and will be great going into cooler weather.

ReplyDeleteNow come on, let’s go steady here. Duchess Sophie is doing her bit towards ecology and the planet. She is wearing what was in its first life, a uniform for a ticket inspector for British Rail.
ReplyDeleteBut we can’t joke about the work she is doing to support this charity which helps children.
Happy 90th birthday and a thank you to Madam Farr for her 60 odd years of work to help this cause.
I like the blazer not so much the pants. Well to each it's own. css
ReplyDeleteSophie choice of style seems topsy turvy! Her dresses and skirts are way too long and her trousers way too short.Sophie is better in knee length dresses and skirts, and tapered trousers. She has a fantastic figure, but, she hides it under I'll fitting clothing. Plus I'd advice an appointment for measuring. Undergarments can make or break an ensemble. With Sophie of late,it's been the latter. Bea
ReplyDeleteMy oh my! Sophie looks so happy to be honoring this amazing lady who has 60 yrs to protecting children. I like the jacket but those trousers--need to be tossed on the donation heap. They do not flatter Sophie at all and are totally wrong for the jacket. Another oops here is the mix of fabric with the jacket and the trousers. Well, maybe we'll see something better next time.

Trop de boutons tuent le bouton.
ReplyDeleteI don't like this at all. When I first saw the pictures here, it made me think immediately at the old police uniforms in my town. The trousers are too short, the grey accessories do not match the rest. What a silly idea to wear a jacket like this. Rose
ReplyDeleteMaybe the invitation to this event was "fancy dress"
ReplyDeleteThis jacket is a work of art imo.
DeleteIf I should wear (and I wouln' t hesitate a single moment) this piece , I would pair it with black cuissard boots and a black skater miniskirt.
Of course, this Is a royal blog and royal ladies just can't t be that edgy. The goal of this engamemt is what really matters and it surely overahadows any fashion view😉
I would like to see the jacket and trousers worn with other pieces. The jacket would be better with a straight leg trouser and the trousers with a shorter jacket. Still nice to see the duchess!

When I first saw the pictures I thought her top made her look like a police officer. Those pants don’t work for her either. I usually like the way she dresses although I wish she went for shorter dresses because she has great legs and a beautiful figure. Some of her outfits seem to engulf her entire body for some reason.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous jacket.
ReplyDeleteHas kinda of a Gothic vibe in it.
It makes a nice contrast with Sophie's blonde hair.
What a challenging and worthy patronage.
Well done indeed.
I like the suit, and I like Sophie, but the two together I do *not* like.
