Separately the three pieces are OK but not together; there is too much black animal skin overall...and the blouse is too delicate to be paired with a black leather jacket. The blouse and skirt alone might have been better, but even then...

Same here - too much leather (and too much black stiffness). Why to make a skirt from a comparatively stiff material, I don't get it (especially if it is a longer skirt like this). If it has to be leather, let it be a jacket - thinking of Queen Letizia's collarless red jacket. The blouse could be OK with almost anything else. (GM)

I prefer 'animal skin' to synthetic cause its part of the ecosystem and is biodegradable

Lamb skin is anything but stiff.

    4. I agree with you completely Anon 9:13.
I would add that the brown boots with the black leather make the outfit look even worse.
To me this is a rare miss from Sophie.

@Cate: I also agree completely - the boots with this outfit are atrocious. I didn't see them in the main photos which is why I didn't make mention the first time, but now that I see the small photo at the bottom (hard to see everything when using a phone to comment)..golly!

  2. This is a surprise, especially the leather skirt with a slit, very flattering. if only the boots were black instead of brown.

Hard as I try, I can't see anything interesting in the blouse.
The leather suit is fabulous and this time I like also the longuette skirt.
    The Duchess looks gorgeous.

Leather on leather on leather plus pastel flowers…not sure how these pieces were put together but there is hope for a rework as each piece is nice.

This is just horrendous. Nina Ricci , Prada - must me super expensive and it’s super ugly. The two pieces separately would have been ok but this is too much. Not even Queen Laëtitia could get away with this. And the high brown leather boots on top of this.. Sophie usually looks great and sophisticated. I don’t know what happened here

I think she got off at the wrong bus stop on her way to the couturier.

I think the outfit is a little interesting, even though I’m no big fan of black leather clothes, but Sophie is nice in it! C

  9. She looks lovely, but I am not sure what is off about this ensemble. The blouse?

      Hello, @ Ava.
Basically, I think that this is a flattering ensemble though a couple of pieces look to be off somehow: the blouse/ shirt and the boots colour imo.
I would have opted for black high heels instead.

  11. Agree with anon 9:13 - these three pieces don´t go together. The jacket and skirt together are too much leather, and neither go with the blouse.
I find the combination of leather and blouse difficult in general and I think that any leather item (jacket, skirt, or trousers if one has to (one doesn´t)) is best combined with a knit top. And generally, one leather item is enough (not counting shoes).
In Sophie´s case, I would have gone for the jacket. I would have combined it with a fitted turtleneck top and simple, sleek trousers and simple shoes, with one item providing some colour for an otherwise black-only outfit.

  12. Si Sophie devait porter du cuir noir souple, ce serait plus chic avec une chemise blanche mais surtout sans un noeud Lavallière ; est-ce que je vois des boucles d'oreilles avec de grosses hématites ?!

  13. I don’t dislike the outfit but that blouse does not seem to go with it. The one on the model is better. The only complaints I would have is that she seems to have a lot of dark makeup on her eyes, a little more than usual for her and the brown boots with the black outfit.

Oh no, only the blouse I can accept, this leather suit is so ugly! And I'm afraid she changes sth in her make up, the eyes look much too small 😪

  15. I love the jacket. However, I agree with the comments that there's too much leather altogether. The brown boots are just wrong and I feel that the skirt and blouse with a different jacket or the blouse and jacket with a different skirt would look much better. Good for her for trying something different.

I love the skirt and the jacket but not together. Hope to see both again but paired with other pieces. If she had worn black boots I would have wondered if she had become a biker chick! Not thrilled with the brown boots paired with the black skirt or jacket but all black would have been over the top. As for the blouse--very pretty and feminine so I understand why she chose to wear it with leather but it is swamped by too much leather.

Sophie, in my opinion, is almost always off. I have nothing against a black leather jacket and skirt. The two leather pieces probably would have worked better if they had been from the same designer and had the same feel. As mentioned above, a sweater would have worked well in place of that blouse that has no business mingling with that leather. I can't imagine what got into her head when she chose her boots. Black suede would have been a much better choice and softened the look. I think she was really trying to be edgier here, so huge props for the effort, but it just didn't work. I hope she doesn't give up.

Prada or not the jacket makes me think again at the military style (shoulder decorations ?). The beige leather boots don't go with the rest. Her eye make-up is not a success. Normally her make-up is done better. She used too much shimmering eye make-up which entered into the lines around her eyes. From a certain age on, one better use no shimmering eye make-up any more but light tones like gray, beige, light brown, . . . . . Skip the black.

Possibly her worst “performance” sartorially speaking. What was she thinking? Neither did her leather pieces are showing any class or decent taste. But the two combined.., what a disaster.

Did Charles ask his working royal ladies to conform with some bizarre rules? What is going on these days with both Kate and Sophie? Or did he cut the funds for their stylists?
