On October 7, Crown Princess Leonor and her fellow cadets at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza took the oath of allegiance to the flag. King Felipe and Queen Letizia were present at the ceremony. The oath of allegiance is an important milestone in the Spanish military training and represents commitment to the nation and the Spanish people.
Princess Leonor, who will turn 18 on October 31, will take an oath to the Spanish Constitution on her birthday in a ceremony before the Cortes Generales in the presence of both members of the Congress and the Senate. Afterwards, King Felipe will present the Collar of the Order of Charles III to the Princess on the occasion of her birthday, and in the evening, King Felipe and Queen Letizia will host a private dinner at El Pardo Palace.
She was perfect. I couldn't believe this 17 y.o.princess, was forming and marching like any other cadet officer in the Spanish military. We are so proud of her in Spain.
ReplyDeleteShe’s amazing! God bless her! MR
DeleteAnon 14:32, I bet you're all so proud of her in Spain! She is a real role model for young people globally. Royalty and non-royalty! She nail it as a cadet [I take it she is a cadet for now]! And like you say, still so young.
DeleteIndeed!
DeleteAs you should be! She is doing fantastic. It must be another world for her, but it will definitely make her wiser, as with Elisabeth of Belgium. Damsel Dragonfly
DeleteAgree with you, and I am not even spanish!
DeleteAgree!
DeleteThe parents can be proud - overload.
ReplyDeleteStill not 18 years old and looking so dedicated and mature.
ReplyDeleteGood promises for the future of the monarchy in Spain.
( and looking quite impressive in uniform)
Mabel
Everbody kissing the flag, not hygienic, at least put it on forehead.
ReplyDeleteThe uniform she wore the day before suits her best.
It is not the normal thing, only Leonor kissed the flag, the rest not. The flag IS very old, from 1800 or so.
DeleteAlthough the dress fits QL perfectly and the colour suits her well, I'm not a fan of the skirt part because of the strips of fabric. To me it appears that a straight skirt would give a much better overall impression.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you. I do not care for the tiered style of the skirt section, and a straight or A-line would be much better. But the fabric is wonderful! - Ellie
DeleteThe skirt is typical Spanish, "volantes"
Delete@3:01 This style of dress and the linares are part of Spanish culture. When the princess visited a few months ago, she also wore something similar. Paying homage. Your preferences are irrelevant.
DeleteQueen Letizia´s polka dot dress is very pretty and I enjoy seeing nice summer clothes. Where I live it is getting dark and cold.
ReplyDeleteThe gala uniform looks not very comfortable. I preferred the one Princess Elisabeth of Belgium was wearing at the National day with a skirt for the female cadets (in the meantime she became an officer). I also saw a picture of CP Elisabeth in her daily uniform which is very light : a pencil skirt, a shirt, a tie, a military jacket and a hat (beret). Of course they cannot choose but have to wear the uniform which is chosen by their country and follow the rules that are foreseen for every soldier the same.
ReplyDeleteLeonor is doing a real training, not dressed for a photo. Nobody gows to a war in a skirt, uniforms are for men and women, no different.
DeleteBelgium only exists since 1830...a new "country"...uniforms are new.
DeleteSpain is a very very old country with a lot of history, only the flad she kissed was done in 1800 by her greatgrandmother.

DeleteThe men don't go to a war in their gala uniform either. On the pictures of CP Elisabeth taken on training in the woods and the mud she is in camouflage gear (no skirt then either). I wonder when we are going to see pictures of CP Leonor on training. Rose

DeleteWhat has Belgium to do with the kissing of the Spanish flag ?
Belgium is independent since 1830. The country existed already before Julius Caesar who talked about the "Belgae" (the Belgians). Willem of Orange lived partly in Brussels in the 17th century. King Phillipe's gala uniform is inspired on the uniform of Leopold I of Saxe Cobourg Gotha, who served in the British Army before he became king of the Belgians. The gala uniforms changed of course a bit during history. King Phillipe and his children are wearing the last version, which in Belgium are different for men and women (a skirt instead of trousers but only for the gala and the daily uniform) it always has been like that since women were allowed to have a military career. Anon 19:03..in Spain , we have seen those pictures, maybe you need to learn Spanish language and read Spanish press..you wonder??
DeleteElizabeth only has been some months doing It... Leonor Will be THREE years in the Army to be the Head Commander of the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Leonor is going to be the Head Commander of tha ALL Spanish Army, as her dad is now.
DeleteHer training time Will be in earth , Navy and Air, during THREE years.
She has finish campament training , because of that they are doing this parade behind their families.
Elisabeth has done nine months only in earth ..Leonor Will pilot an helicópter as her father, so please, It is not the same...
Anon 07:01...exactly muy thoughts..what on earth are people speaking about Belgium or her Crown princess in a place about the Spanish flag...I wonder...

DeleteElisabeth did one year of Royal Military Academy (the RMA is the equivalent of university) and not some months. After that she went to Oxford University to study Politics and History and during the last 2 Summer holidays she went on military training camp with her fellow students from the RMA instead of going on holiday.
I know Leonor must (will) do 3 years. It was in our news papers too and on the internet. I never said she was not. Elisabeth did all weapons like they call it in Belgium the same as every Belgian prince did before her. If a prince (or a princess in this case) wish to learn or to achieve another discipline like Prince Phillipe did, who is also an helicopter pilot and a para commando, they can do it, but Princess Elisabeth does not have to do it. Prince Laurent went to the navy f.ex. Prince Gabriel on the contrary he well continue to achieve the full program, I think. It is not sure yet. What Princess Elisabeth will do after her studies at Oxford university is not sure yet. But there are rumors she will gradually be prepared to represent her father and she will be sent on economic missions abroad, just like King Phillippe did when he was a prince.
The young European princesses all make their parents proud, I just read Ingrid Alexandra of Norway started also the military program that is developed for her. Don't know how many years she must do.
So it is not really important that a female officer is wearing a skirt or trousers in parades it is all the rest that counts. Rose
Rose, absolutely!.. The young european princesses all are making their parents and countries very prouds. And your very dignified HRH princess Elisabeth is going to be a magnificent representative of your wonderful nation.
DeleteSince in one of your previous comments on this thread you seemed curious to see the photos of Princess Leonor's military training in Zaragoza, I put this link here for it, if it's possible in this page (if not, my apologies): https://www.parismatch.com/royal-blog/leonor-despagne-un-premier-mois-larmee-ou-elle-ne-se-lest-pas-coulee-douce-229692#7
Thank you very much anonymous 9/10 22:20 for the wonderful pictures of Paris Match. Strange I never saw them in other papers or on the internet. It can happen. The different blogs I read about the royals did not pick them up. Rose
DeleteThe queen looks beautiful, her dress fits her well and her hair is, as usual, very well coiffed. Princess Leonor is an asset to the crown.
ReplyDeleteNice look for Letizia. The Pss Leonore performed her duty perfect. The RF and Spain must be really proud of her. css
ReplyDeleteThe queen looks stunning
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh to myself, as I am not a fan of polka dots or ruffles. And this dress has both and I like it :-)) Like the draped waistband. It fits perfectly and with Letizia, her good posture helps to make every dress look better.
ReplyDeletePolka dots (lunares) and ruffles are the typical Spanish dress.
DeleteMagnifique silhouette de Letizia dans cette robe à pois ; j'aime bien également la dame dont la robe comporte des motifs fleuris sur fond blanc mais peut-être un peu trop courte !
ReplyDeleteThe Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles.
DeleteWow, I still remember seeing her as a todler. Well done Princess of Asturias. That posture is impeccable.
