The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the 'One805 Live' charity event in Santa Barbara hosted by actor Kevin Costner, who is also an ambassador to the charity. The event was held at Costner's polo field in Santa Barbara. One805 is an organization that was established in 2018 and provides financial aid and mental health support for first responders groups (Fire, Police, and Sheriff) in Santa Barbara county.
Carolina Herrera oversized tweed cape
This is a really beautiful cape. What a nice design. I.P.
ReplyDeleteBesser spät als nie. Ich finde das Cape sehr schön und stylisch, es kommt nur auf den Fotos hier nicht so gut zur Geltung. Und manch anderer Gast ist auch warm angezogen, z. Bsp. Oprah.
DeleteSabsi
Agree to I.P. and Sabsi, wish i could buy it...
DeleteWhat a fabulous, stylish (and cozy!) Fall coat! Meghan looks so lovely. She has such flawless skin. Love the classic gold earrings and her beautiful smile. Harry looks happy and coordinates with his Duchess in his black shirt. This is a very worthy charity—firefighters and first responders need extra help with what they see and deal with.
ReplyDeleteSono pienamente d'accordo con cio' che hai scritto. Aggiungo che il pantalone nero indossato dalla duchessa e' ancora piu' bello di quello proposto dalla modella
DeleteI really get a little bit sick of all her touching of Harry and clinging on to him. Once okay but all the time? Ellen
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteI agree with you. Super annoying. But I do have to admit that she looks very classy in this cape.
DeleteJealous Ellen?
DeleteAnd the other royals who hold hands and show public affection ?
DeleteDo they make you sick?
Or is it only Duchess Meghan.
I don´t know what pictures you have been looking at. I can't see any touching or clinging on the ones above.
DeleteThe cape is very nice
Calm down, ellen is expressing her opinion, nothing wrong with that
DeleteDoes love make you sick?
DeleteYou deserve pity.
I couldn’t see her touching or clinging on to him in these photos, maybe once her hand might have touched Harry in one of the photos. So I don’t really understand your comment. As someone commented earlier, other royals and celebritues are also often holding hands, does that bother you, too?
Delete-B.
If you watched Invictus you would see Harry had her in a bear hug, kept reaching for her hand or touching her back, standing thisclose, enough to feel the heat from her body, and whispering in her ear. Your prince will do same. Remember to touch him.
DeleteFunny comment Ellen. It’s her husband, not forbidden to hold hands nor touch him!
DeleteYou are not angery with the Duchess you angrey with the other royals who are outdated and unpopular.
DeleteYou are not angry with the Duchess but with the other royals who are outdated and have very little to say.
DeleteThere is nothing in these pictures that justifies Ellen’s comment. What about recent photos of Kate touching William’s bottom on an engagement? Ick. But loving looks and smiling at each other from Harry and Meghan are objectionable? This is an example of hatred dressed up as annoyance. There are certain royals Helen covers here who have legally and officially documented bad behavior— I cannot stand them and I pass by those postings without click and certainly no comment. Not my call to cover them and I respect Helen’s blog.
DeleteOMG what a, mostly anonymus replies. Ofcourse my response is not only related to this topic. I think its nice when people show affection in public, there's nothing wrong with that. I Just think it's so over the top with them, as if they want to indicatie something to the outside world. Just my opinion, no jealousy no hatred whatsoever. Have a nice day! Ellen
DeleteToujours aussi belle et chic
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
D'accord avec Froufrou.
DeleteVery beautiful cape. It suits her really well. What was the ‘lady’ in teal thinking?!
ReplyDeleteI think the lady in the teal is an entertainer. She's maybe is dressed for the stage?
DeleteThat's a lovely coat but I think I'd be too warm wearing that in 23C temps in Santa Barbara.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
Here in the Southwest of America 73, especially in the morning or early evening is cool because its been in the 90's to 100's.
DeleteIt's a strange phenomenon how the same temperature can feel different in different locations.
Meghan's top is awful. Her hair and make look lovely.
ReplyDeleteEllen. Show one photo here where Meghan is touching and clinging to her HUSBAND? And what is wrong with couples, any couple, holding and touching in public. I thought that's what happy couples do . My parents were married 57 years and they held hands in public. What is your point?
ReplyDeleteEllen dear she can touch a lot more of his 'shirts' etc.
DeleteI rarely saw a picture of President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan when they were NOT holding hands or looking lovingly into each others' eyes. In person they even more amazing , PDA and all. Some folks just get it right and are not worried about public criticism over their affection for one another.
DeleteMeghan IS most frequently pictured and filmed holding or touching Harry ; this was Ellen’s point. I too think it’s OTT and unusual for public figures, although lovely for private couples. - Lotta.
DeleteHave to agree to ellen and lotta, too much of "look at us , happy couple".
DeleteInterestingly he is not touching her
DeleteThe King and Queen of Belgium show a lot of affection in public.Often, often, seen holding hands and the King is usually by the Queen’s side to help her out when a steady hand is needed.
DeleteI think the champion "touchy-touchy" couple is Sarah and Mike Tindall, Princess Anne’s daughter.
In almost 100% of photos, they are seen holding hands and in a recent photo, they are having a full on kiss.
Fortunately, I didn’t get sick.
Hope you are back to good health soon Ellen.
Queen Mathilde and King Phillippe regularly take each other by the hand when arriving somewhere. There are also a lot of pictures of them where they are whispering something in each others ears or where KPh lays his arm lightly around QM's waist. Also Queen sjoul'Fr,yMaxima and King W. Alexander touch each other regularly. Why can't they show their affection for each other like any other couple ? Public figures who do not showing their affection for their partner are the exception, not the other way round. Rose
DeleteCannot understand comparing with a president and a king....

Thank you Lotta and anonymus 10.35, you got me spot on !!! Greetings, Ellen
DeleteThis is a great charity to support.
ReplyDeleteThey both look great, relaxed, low key California casual.
Well said, Duchess Meghan is looking very beautiful.
DeleteKay
I get that people are frustrated with her for what has gone on between their two families. I strongly feel that no one should be thrown away. Not even her. Meghan looks very nice.
ReplyDeleteFirst responders have one of the most difficult jobs. A worthwhile charity to support.
ReplyDeleteMeghan's CH cape hits just the right note for a cool evening. Her makeup is beautifully done. She also opted for a minimalist look with her hair swept back into a neat bun. The big man looks dashing in black.
Ana 1
I love the cape-jacket. Capes are also coming back in Fashionland.
ReplyDeleteI also love the way Prince Harry is dressed lately. I saw it already at the Invictus games and now again. He dresses more modern but with a classic touch. Rose
I agree with you on all your points, Rose. Damsel Dragonfly
DeleteIts rare that a cape worn, as a top can look good. Imo this doesn't. The cape is huge, bulky, the design is unflattering. It looks quite big on Meghan. I especially don't like the thick black hoops holding up the sleeves. Her earrings are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAgree, Queen Letizia would make this potato sack look polished..unfortunately Meghan makes most of her clothes look like a potato sack no matter the brand.
DeleteAs a keen eyed fashion observer it should be noted that not every outing qualifies, or should be a catwalk moment. Capes are by definition loose fitting and cozy. The ribbon adds definition to emphasize her frame. She understood the assignment. The focus was on the host and the first responders.
DeleteThe cape is being worn as a cape, not as a top. Where did that notion come from? It wouldn't be a cape if it was form fitting, hence its name. It is supposed to be roomy. I guess trolling comments are the norm whenever Meghan is discussed.
DeleteI'll have one of those coats/cape please. 😀

She has also been noted as saying that her work is “affordable luxury for women”

Merci for informing about things we already know...
DeleteNo problem @Anon 10:38.
DeleteOh, and thanks for thanking me.
Perhaps being a teacher? ;)
DeleteThank you, deadeggs. That was interesting fashion history that enhanced my understanding of the outfit. It does meat Carolina Herrera’s criteria. I also did not know about her daughters. It will be interesting to see what happens to the brand if they take over and whether we’ll be seeing her clothes on royal ladies in years to come.
DeleteBy the way, C H sold her company in 1995 to Puig, she is the creative director. anna e.
DeleteSo she doesn't own the company? Oh..
DeleteThe coat looks okay in the photo where no one is wearing it. On the model as well as on Meghan it looks like a bag that’s been pulled together with a black string. Meghan herself looks glowing. The severe hairstyle suits her and emphasises her fine features.
ReplyDeleteAnnieM
J'aimerai porter ce sac de pomme de terre car il est très joli.
DeleteMeghan:Une classe folle.
Du très bon goût :Qu'elle continue de me faire rêver.
I like the coat/cape. Very versatile. Classy and cozy at the same time.
ReplyDeleteQuelques esprits chagrins vont trouver à redire mais je trouve que Meghan porte à merveille cette cape oversize en tweed ; ses boucles d'oreilles sont superbes juste ce qu'il faut pour finaliser son look !
ReplyDeleteI really like Meghan' cape, however I wonder if it is a little too soon to wear it. Makes me think I should get my fall and winter clothes out here in the South where I live in the US!
ReplyDeleteIt's fall. It's a little cooler here in California, for the time being anyway. What is the problem?
DeleteThe Sussexes are no longer working royals so I don’t understand why they’re being featured. Wendy1
ReplyDeleteVous ne comprenez pas pourquoi ils sont présentés.
DeleteEt pourquoi ne pas tout simplement les zapper?
Why are you here if you don't care? There are others to read about.
DeleteWendy should just scrol by and let the rest of us that want to read about Meghan read about her, and the rest of the non working royals. I bet she doesn't have a problem when they write about Madeleine, Märtha Louise, Bea, Eugenie, Zara, Elena and Christina and so on..
DeleteSuch a beautiful design. I absolutely love the way they show affection for each other. They have been through a difficult time and they stood together.
ReplyDeleteSeems Carolina Herrera is a new favourite of the DoS. It's not a bad look, but I think the cape might have been to warm to wear on a September day in Santa Barbara. Others seemed to be dressed more lightly for this event. Also, the cape has an awkward shape on her. Sorry to say.
ReplyDeleteThe cape though lovely is too large. Meghan wears beautiful clothing - however her clothes are often sized too big for her. No snark just a comment.
ReplyDeleteShe desperately needs a good tailor. And a stylist.
DeleteTo Lily, i am shure the duchess has both, stylists and tailors. You can like her style or not. It's just fashion.
DeleteSo true, 17.25!
DeleteThat cape is beautiful, as is Meghan. Fantastic charity to support for Prince Harry and the duchess.

This couple stepped away from what few royal duties they had, to live a private life. Why are they on this blog? They have done nothing but hurt both sides of their families, not in private, but in public forums. There are a great many other royal families who do real good for their countries, and yet these two are pushed to for forefront, over Princess Ann, or other royals who had a great work ethic. Please stop publishing photos of a couple who want privacy. No negative comments, this is my opinion, and it is also called FREEDOM of speech. Rachel H
ReplyDeleteAs you are free to express your opinion, the owner of this blog is equally as free to feature the Sussexes (and others, like ex-royals, thinking of Tessy de Nassau) right here. Simple as that.
DeleteDon't know if you remember, but many years ago Camilla really hurt William and Harry by having an affair with their married father. Broke up their parents marriage some would say. She's Queen now. Forgive, move on, this blog is about fashion.
DeleteAgree!
DeleteYou clearly do not understand the meaning of privacy. Wanting privacy does not mean locking yourself away and never being seen and heard. I'm sure you yourself have and want a certain level of privacy does that mean you have no right to be outside speak, be with friend, participate in things that is important to you. Plus when they left the royal family they hnever stated it was because of their need for privacy so stop spreading that lies. And if your so tired of seeing them why have you gone out of your way to click, look and comment on a post about two people your're tired of seeing? That's a question you should ask your self.
DeleteStop going on the british tabloid hate agenda. The press has spread a narrative that they wanted privacy, and you have belived their bullshit with hook, line and sinke. In fact they said -“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.” - The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
DeleteAnd so to hurting your family. Then Prince Charles said about his parents -"I was being cowed by the forceful personality of my father." His father bullied him as a child, treated him with "mocking banter," thought him "a bit of a wimp" and preferred his spunky sister. The Queen he said was -"cold and aloof" and too busy being Queen. And at age 32 he was forced by his father to marry Diana, poor thing. Is this thing called memory.
So much rubbish, concentrate on fashion and stop silly comments
Delete@Anon 17:35 Rachel H Your freedom of speech b.s. has no place here. This is a FASHION blog. Stick to the subject or move along. It can't be that difficult to figure out where you are and what is discussed here.
DeleteThis was certainly a who's who with WME PR company. I read the tables were £12k! The money raised will hopefully go in its entirety to the FR. Unlike some charities where only 5% goes to the charity and the 95% goes to the founders.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is a freighter and so it's heartening to see the services being acknowledged and appreciated!
As for fashion, nice cloak. Bea

Certaines n'ont jusqu'à maintenant pas compris que ce blog est dédié à la mode et non à la vie privée de la famille royale.
Elles ne font qu'écrire tous les mensonges de la presse de caniveau.
C'est affligeant.

Why wear tweed in summer temperature?
ReplyDelete22-24 in the daytime right now.
Meghan is stunning. I can't see anything to criticize, but as we know she can't breathe without someone finding something wrong. Even the weather...
ReplyDeleteYour opinion... and why not
DeleteNot a good look, tweed in summer time is overkill weather wise.
ReplyDeleteIt is not summer anymore, and the event is being held in the evening. The other guests are wearing evening layers as well.
DeleteOfficially Summer time was over on September 21st. Because the weather is still good with lots of sunshine, we don't need winter clothes already (even in Europe). However in the early morning and after 8 o'clock in the evening it is getting cold. Rose
DeleteExscuse from an European we do need fall clothes including layers, jackets and coats Rose. I have used my puffer jackets, shackets and coats for a month! She's wearing a cape, a lovely one I might say, but don't understand or see the need for the criticism she gets her.
DeleteNice little cape, do like the look at least for fall. css
