The Duchess of Edinburgh attended a breakfast event held for volunteers from various charities across Devon. The event took place at Coldharbour Mill in Uffculme Village.
The mill is a very small charity which looks after a 12-acre historic estate, and it is registered with Historic England as the most complete set of mill complex buildings created in the Victorian era in the UK.
The event was hosted by the Lord Lieutenant of Devon, David Fursdon, the King’s representative in the county. The purpose of the event was to bring together of the 4,000 Devon charities to discuss their problems and how the Lieutenancy Office can help them.

Like the top/jacket. Wasn’t sure if it was a dress in the first pics. Definitely not a fan of the trousers. Have yet to see any of our favourite royals who look good in a checked trouser suit. Other than the trousers, the Duchess of Edinburgh looks as smart and engaged as she always does.

The jacket looks quite smart but I would have chosen a plain colored pair of pants.
ReplyDeleteI Agree.

I like it. Nothing to get in raptures about, but a solid working outfit. I think the sleeves might be a tad too long for her.
ReplyDeleteThe top I’d keep but I’d give the trousers to Prince Edward for when he goes hunting.
ReplyDeleteAn article in Vogue (May 2020) says Sportmax has been established for over 50 years, is part of the Max Mara group and is all Italian with a focus on good tailoring.
Sophie looks wonderful but I would have not worn both pieces together--too busy with the small checks. I think the jacket and a pair of solid trousers or vice versa would have moved this into a perfect look for her.

Agree with several comments about replacing plaid pants with a solid color and a straight leg would be much better.
DeleteSometimes there's a clothing style I envision only a few people suits well; this is such a case: in my opinion late QE would look wonderful in this combination, but it doesn't suit the DoE at all
ReplyDeleteThis is very passé. Q Maxima as well as Q Mathilde had a shirt dress in a similar pattern certainly 4 or 5 years ago. I don't like these small checks it makes the Duchess 10 years older. Rose
ReplyDeleteI don't find anything likeable here, except the Duchess herself of course. So many checks, so blergh the colours, so very hard-masculine the style, the cut, everything ... I am no fan of her diversions into the flowery-fluffy style department, but I find this worse. Cannot imagine that anybody could look great in it. (GM)
ReplyDeleteThe color is muddy and the cut on the top is very boxy, so I don’t think it’s very flattering. I can see the pants paired with a solid color instead of the full suit together.
ReplyDeleteThe pantsuit fits her well. Wonderful to see her.
ReplyDeleteSophie can wear most anything and it suits her well. It might have been a better look if dark pants of the same shade of the jacket would have been worn, rather than a full 'suit' as she did.
ReplyDeleteA bit to much. Either the pants or the jacket. As it looks now I'm wondering if she's going hunting 😉
