On Thursday, September 28, 2023, Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the Musica Mundi School in Waterloo. The Queen attended some music theory and composition lessons, listened to a short concert performed by the students and discussed different matters with some of the students, management staff and teachers.
The Musica Mundi School (MMS) is an international primary and secondary boarding school for young musicians aged 10 to 18. Its mission is to provide these young people with the conditions in which they can pursue a rigorous, professional musical education in parallel with a quality secondary school education programme. MMS is an all-Steinway School and a Cambridge-certified International School.
I like the blouse but I struggle with the colour of the trouser suit. It reminds me of a pot of Colman's mustard. The huge buckle on the trousers is hidden by the tie of the blouse in most pics which is another reason to like the blouse!
ReplyDeletePictures 4 & 5 are not to the advantage of the queen. I don't like her outfit, neither the design nor color.
ReplyDeleteThis is alright. Would be fantastic in most other colour combinations. This however looks like mustard and ketchup.
ReplyDeleteThe lady in the blue suit looks good.
Mustard and ketchup, you are so right :-) I agree with everything you say. Damsel Dragonfly
ReplyDeleteI try not to be too negative in my comments but I don't like this outfit at all. The pants are ill fitting. The color combination is jarring and the blouse with its bow is plainly ugly. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteEither wear the jacket of take it off. This hanging over the shoulders just looks messy to me . This is not toward Mathilde, anyone wearing like that looks messy to me.
ReplyDeleteSorry but the criticism towards "hanging" coat can be read often here but I find far too exgerated. So many people travelling by car do that, for easiness reasons. I don't think it can be seen as messy. Remember royals are just people like everyone else, and I think they like to give the impression they behave so.
DeleteToo much mustard color, for MO not the greatest look. css
ReplyDeleteI myself don't like these colours and would never wear them, however I think Mathilde can wear mustard and yellow and generally, "earth" colours quite well. But I miss a good lipstick colour for company. My main problem lies with that terrible Natan belt. (GM)
ReplyDeletePhotos 3 and 4 show the suit colour more golden which isn’t so bad and may be the true colour, whereas the others give a green tone which is quite harsh. That said I see the consensus is a no to the mustard and ketchup combo … but maybe it’s a nod to autumn? She’s such a warm queen, and I notice that her host at the school, the lady in blue, has put a huge effort into her outfit, and she looks delighted to have Mathilde there. - AnneLise
ReplyDeleteThe outfit overall looks great, but its the colors combined I don't like. Especially the mustard color, this doesn't appeal to me at all. The color of the blouse I don't like either.
ReplyDeleteI can't really find too much to like here--not the color combo or that awful belt or the ill-fitting trousers. When I think of all the other blouses I've seen QM wear I have to wonder why she chose this one--but even another color can't save the ill-fitting trousers. As for that belt--I hope she burns it.

I think that the reason of this outfit colours is merely patriotic.
ReplyDeleteA nod to the Belgian flag.
That' s not the best ensemble I'' ve seen on Matilde so far, though.
Other than that, she looks so beautiful and classy, as always.
Apparently nobody likes bright colors on this blog. A pity for Queen Mathilde and Queen Maxima they both like bright colors. And why shouldn't they. Ask any stylist, women who are becoming older should stay away as much as possible from dull colors like grey, blue and beige. They make you look older than your real age. According the circumstances Queen Mathilde and Queen Maxima both wear beige and brown, navy and black as well. I think they both look good in bright colors as well as in navy, blue, and black. Soon they also will take out of their dressing the wine red, brown and forest green clothes they wore past winter. It is not forbidden during winter to wear a pop of color like pink, cream, light blue to highlight a dull color. The so called mustard yellow you all hate so much was fashion last winter, so someone who likes bright colors automatically will choose that color. For the coming winter it is more orange, turquoise and purple which can be mixed with a dull color. I'm curious what the 2 QM's will choose. Rose
ReplyDeleteWell I did not mean that I don't like bright colors, but certainly not the combinatkion of these two. I am often quite positive about red, orange, bright blue .... white and sometimes black. But I have personally a problem with black.
Delete@ MaryT. I wasn't especially aiming at you. I was talking about the majority of the comments. There were a lot of others who didn't like it, also on other websites. If I was queen Mathilde I had a good look in my dressing to find a cream blouse, or she once wore a sort of turquoise blouse with yellow trousers, but then she received a lot of critics too. The comparison with the mustard was not new they did it earlier, although the trousers then were rather a warm yellow not mustard at all. Rose
DeleteMathilde and Maxima both wear too much Natan that don't fit well and have huge belts and unattractive color combinations . I'm waiting for Rose's comment. She doesn't like when we differ from her fashion taste.
ReplyDeleteI think if the jacket wasn’t included, this could be better. Not my favorite color combo, or one that you see together in fashion, but the outfit could be improved if it was color blocked with just the burnt orange top and mustard trousers. The very wide belt should be forgotten all together.
ReplyDeleteDis-tasteful color combination for anyone, even the Queen.
ReplyDeleteSomewhat more blouse and somewhat less trousers would already significantly improve this look. The model of the pair of trousers isn't one which suits QM best.
ReplyDeleteWithout the belt, without that horrid tie on the blouse, I could quite like the shape of the outfit. I understand the desire to wear the national colours but the tobes seem slightly off. Luckiky, the Queen's height helps her carry off things that would be dreadful on others. AlSo, her smile is delightful
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, rich autumnal colours of her outfit!
