On September 2, Duchess Marie-Amelie of Wurttemberg married Baron Franz-Ferdinand of Feilitzsch at Altshausen Castle in Altshausen in a religious wedding ceremony.
Queen Mathilde of Belgium and royal guests from around Europe were among the 380 guests who attended the wedding of the Duchess Marie-Amelie in the parish church of Saint-Michel d’Altshausen. The couple had married civilly in May in Friedrichshafen.
Very pretty wedding gown with clean lines and a classic shape. It fits her very well and is perfectly match by the tiara and veil. The sleeves are superfluous though I think, as they are not needed for a late summer wedding and instead make the bride look very closed-up, especially with the already very high neckline. I would have just kept the lacy part as a sort of cap sleeve.
ReplyDeleteMathilde looks nice.
I thought the same on everything. I like Mathilde's dress, a re-wear.
DeleteThe bride wore her mother's wedding-gown, designed in 1993 and adapted to her.
DeleteAnd the designer was Jaques Fath. anna e.
DeleteI think the gown would have looked better had the sleeves been unlined. The partial lining beginning below the shoulders appeared quite odd,in my opinion.
DeleteWell said, agree with your points.
Deleteit is the weddingdress of her mother
ReplyDeleteWe have seen this lovely dress on Mathilde before but I am wondering if it is just slightly too casual for a royal wedding.
ReplyDeleteI will be interested in reading what other people think.
On pic4, I see varied dresses among the ladies. But the queen must somohow set the tone.
Delete@ Cate. On picture 2 and 5 we see different colors of dresses in different lengths. Not only among the invited ladies but also among the men. I think there was no dress code. Everyone could wear what she/he wanted. To me Queen Mathilde is certainly not dressed casual and looks very beautiful and up to date in this dress. She has beautiful legs.
DeleteI've heard the bride wore the wedding dress of her mother. Queen Mathilde in a dress she wore for the third time this year. I like her very much in that dress which suits her very well. I think she likes to wear it. The wedding took place on Saturday. Rose
ReplyDeleteThe bride’s dress is beautiful - such clean, classic lines. It was first worn by her mother, Princess Marie of Wied, at her wedding in 1993.
ReplyDeleteHM Q Mathilda’s dress is very flattering to her, both in terms of the colors and of the fit.
Anya
Dear Anya. Agree with all your points.
DeleteI think Queen Mathild has let the bride be the star of the day and chose her outfit in an elegant but slightly low key way.
Agree, on point.
DeletePersonally I'm in love with Queen Marhilde's dress.

The wedding gown leaves me unimpressed as a whole. It is long, it is white, it has much lace and there is a veil. The cut across the upper arm is awkward, as a design element not really a success, probably a bit disturbing. --- But I found this dress on Mathilde pretty last time and I find it really pretty this time too. ReplyDeleteI don't think her goal was to impress. She wanted to wear her mother's gown which was of greater importance to her, even if the design was 30 years old.
DeleteAgree with @Anon 19:15.
DeleteThe objective was to wear her mother’s wedding dress even if the experts can find faults with the design/style etc.
I think there is a special life long bonding when mother and daughter share the same wedding dress.
I agree to 19.15. it is such a lovely gesture and think of a british princess at her wedding day... anna e.
Delete@deadeggs 06:35 I agree the dress is still beautiful but I don't like the coat very much. The bond between mother and daughter was probably already there before the daughter got married. It is the wedding dress of her mother yes and it is special for the daughter that she can wear it, but it is only a dress. In the old days it happened regularly, especially in royal families, that a wedding dress or a veil has been worn by different generations of brides of the same family. We may not forget that these dresses were sometimes very expensive and were kept in the best conditions to pass on to the next generation. Rose
DeleteMathilde in very elegant ( silk?) dress. I love her style in general very much. Did she lose weight in her holiday? Seems so

ReplyDeleteThanks for the link.
DeleteBelle allure de Mathilde dans cette robe déjà portée très estivale ; le style de sa coiffe me paraît rose pâle afin de reprendre la teinte d'un des motifs !
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic on Queen Mathilde. When she gets outfits wrong they usually go horribly wrong. But when she gets it right- chef’s kiss- she can look spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI really like Queen Mathilde´s dress and we have seen it before. It has a lovely flow, probably silk. It is perfect for a summer daytime wedding.
ReplyDeleteThe bride looks lovely but I don't like the sleeves. Beautiful floral tiara. I wish I could se a better picture of it. Darling children!
À very sweet bride and a most elegant Queen Mathilde!
ReplyDeleteMabel
I prefer the "winter version" of the bridal gown with the beautiful overcoat that once was part of it. Also, the page boys and flower girls got to wear the obviously well kept vintage clothing as well, so they look nearly identical as the bridal party back in 1993.
ReplyDeleteI don't hear negative reactions on Queen Mathilde's dress by NATAN. Yes I think most of the bloggers know it is by Natan since she repeated this dress for the 3rd time this year. Rose
ReplyDeleteEven Nathan gets it right sometimes.
DeleteBeautiful Bride and Groom. I love this wedding gown, classic. Q Mathilde looks wonderful. Great color , she looks good in green. css
