On the evening of September 26, 2023, Queen Margrethe of Denmark hosted a Medal of Honor dinner (Hæderstegnsmiddag) for Army officers at Fredensborg Palace in Copenhagen. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were also present at the dinner.
As an annual tradition, the Queen hosts a dinner in honor of recipients of Long Service Award medals, who are from for the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. The dinner takes place alternately for the three branches, and this year, the invited officers were from the Army who have been given a medal for their good service for 25 years.
The medal of honor for good service in the Danish Army is given to those employees who have had 25 years of service in the Armed Forces. The medal started to be handed out on September 26, 1945 on King Christian X's birthday, and is awarded annually only on this day.
Beautiful dress and those pearls!!!
ReplyDeleteLa giacca di Mary è brutta.
ReplyDeleteGiada
Mary is wearing the army’s female party uniform.
DeleteThe dress is the same for all guards, and it is made of black satin wool and has a black belt with gold embroidered oak leaves and floral motifs. It was designed by a group of female officers. Whether the jacket is ugly or not is neither here nor there. A uniform is a uniform, some look good in it, some don’t. Mary looks very good in it IMO.
Schönes Kleid, aber mit allem Respekt, schaut die Unterwäsche weiß hindurch?

She’s 83 years old! and a queen, so all style choices including underwear are accepted :-). Oh gosh, even as I write that, I cannot imagine being on such public display and scrutiny for a day, let alone 20 years into what would normally be retirement! - AnneLise
DeleteI noticed that too.
DeleteTo AnnaLise, a Wäscheblitzer has nothing to do with age. I wonder why nobody told her, a nude bra would had helped… Greetings from another anna. anna e.
DeleteAt least she's wearing one. That's not always a given these days. LOL.
DeleteThe burgundy color of the dress really suits the Queen.
ReplyDeleteAnd like The Lady of The Manor I really love her pearls.
Love the color of the Queen’s gown. Pretty hairstyle for Mary too.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture where Fredrik is laughing.
ReplyDeleteYes! he's really handsome :-)
DeleteLa couleur violette s'accorde à merveille avec les améthystes de ses boucles d'oreilles ; choix judicieux que son collier de perles !
ReplyDeleteShe should at least have chosen dark underwear. I can imagine she doesn't have all kind of colored bra's and camis but a dark grey or black bra, or even skin colored underwear would have been better. Rose
ReplyDelete👍
Deleteblame the ladies in waiting
DeleteSeriously Rose? looking into such details as the underwear?!
DeleteSeriousley, Anon. 20.30, knowing nothing about elegance? Seeing a queens underwear is quite a thing... seems that nobody helped her!
DeleteThe Queen's gown is lovely, the pearls outstanding. Edwina
ReplyDeleteHMQ looks wonderful in that colour. Perfect accessories in the pearls. Bea
ReplyDeleteVery lovely gown on the Queen, also great color. Love the pearls. Her smile is always a welcoming feature. She is who she is a grand lady. Great looking uniforms worn by the CP couple, with plenty of hardware on their chests. Did Fredrik ever serve? like his brother did? I know Mary is a Patron of the Military appointed by the Queen. css
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks lovely in this shade of burgundy. Her pearl necklace looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe jacket CP Mary is wearing, I don't like. It doesn't look good with her gown, not quite sure why? A rare fail for me.
She is wearing the female officers party uniform. Dress, jacket, the lot
DeleteThe Queen is an accomplished artist, set/costumer designer, so I find it difficult to believe she would make that kind of mistake with her undergarments. If I had to guess, I think the Queen is wearing some type of lumbar/back support that have straps in front. Many come in white. Of course, she could have selected a better color, but maybe there is an explanation. She had a serious back operation, so it's likely she has to continue to wear some type of support. - Joann
ReplyDeleteThat kind of medical help would be a corset which comes in different shapes, but not a bra with straps.
DeleteQueen Margrethe looks stunning, I am glad she is not wearing her pearl parure that she normally wears and chose a different set of pearls.
ReplyDeleteI would like to add something to my previous post. The Queen most likely has a dresser, stylist and, perhaps others, including a hairdresser, as well as a makeup person who help her dress for these important occasions. I can't imagine they would have allowed her to step out in public with undergarments showing. Also, with her bad back the Queen probably needs help in getting in and out of her clothes. Someone would have corrected any mishaps.
ReplyDeleteI thought about the bad back issue as well. This might be the most comfortable bra style for her right now and everyone, including the queen, knew it would show through but thought comfort was more important right now.
DeleteQ.Margrethe is gorgeous and P.Mary could not have been better attired for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteAll men look handsome in their uniforms👍
Queen Margrethe is elegant and class. The CP couple is as always very good looking. Nice pics where everyone seems well engaged and enjoys the conversation.
ReplyDeleteFor Anonymous 12:57. I thought so too until I talked to my sister because she has to wear back supports. She uses something called "Open Bust Sculpting Back Support Tank." She wears a strapless bra. The support covers the back and fits under the breasts. It falls over the shoulders with straps and rests under the breasts, stretching all the way down the front of her body. It's hard to explain. Of course, you are right, other forms don't have those kind of straps. I just brought up the back supports because I thought it would be worth discussing another alternative to the Queen showing her undergarments. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my thoughts and sharing more information. - Joann
