On September 22, 2023, Anne, Princess Royal, officially opened the Port of Aberdeen’s new Aberdeen South Harbour. Upon arrival, the Princess was welcomed by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeen David Cameron and Roy Buchan, who is the chair of the Port of Aberdeen. The Port of Aberdeen is now Scotland's largest berthage port. Princess Anne has been the patron of Maritime UK since 2017.
A stunning colour for Anne! I love that she has found and sticks to her style eg her hair in a lose bun, dress coats, matching gloves, bag, shoes - and doesn’t capitulate to modern globalised fashion. With this particular outfit, I’m also reminded how much I enjoy the uniquely (?) British idea of “dress coat”, a style that we don’t see much anywhere else (?). Others wish to see all famous women “a la mode”, but I enjoy what is traditional, individual and specific to one country. (And most of all, I enjoy seeing practical clothes that can be reworn, and not end up in landfill substantially unused!) - AnneLise.
ReplyDeleteWhat is traditional and specific to one country : I do not see myself wearing the traditional (folkloric) clothes of my great grandmother. In my country after the first WW women started to wear what was considered modern in these days. Since then we followed what is fashion for women. Nowadays there are so many styles that one can choose what to wear. The older the women become the more comfort they like. Practical and sportive clothes exists for all age groups. The women of my generation they prefer such clothes. Once and a while they need something more elegant to wear at a wedding for ex. or at another important family gathering. Then we see the difference between those who are dressing "young" and those who are dressing very stiff and classic like in the old days. Even if you go to the better shops old styles like very classic 2 pieces or classic dresses with a little jacket are more and more replaced by lovely and practical clothes which one can wear all the time. The fabrics become more and more fluent and easy to wear. The very up-to-date clothes are worn by teenagers and don't last longtime because teenagers like to change quickly their style.
DeleteVery nice coat in a suitable heather color. The toddler in a kilt is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the color of the coat but not sure about the different material coming down from the shoulder.
ReplyDeleteOooh a male fashion question for those in the know: the man walking with Princess Anne in pictures 1 and 2 - his shoes look very well “built” - is he hiding “lifts” in these to appear taller? Always intrigued by this question! (Jana S.)
ReplyDeleteSorry, don‘t understand your question.
DeleteThe Princess Royal looks great in this lovely fitted coat in a great shade of purple. She was kept waiting for over 40 minutes by SNP politician Shona Robison who apparently did not even have the good grace to apologise. Being the kind of person she is, Princess Anne used the opportunity to speak to far more of the crowd than she'd been able to do originally. A star as always.
ReplyDeleteReally wonderful to see Anne, Princess Royal, on this blog. She is after all one of the hardest working British Royals. The outfit is a lovely, straightforward fit, with contrasting black accessories. Edwina
ReplyDeleteyes, a "no fuss" Princess Anne style.
DeleteHow chic and elegant!
ReplyDeleteThis is a well made, good quality coat. I love the two-tone collar and color of the coat, her accessories are a nice color. The beautiful two toned scarf tied to her bag is the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteThis coat looks lovely an Pss Anne. I like the color a lot. css
ReplyDeleteShe wasn't "born to the purple" but she does look lovely in it!
ReplyDeletePrincess Anne looks so lovely and elegant in her purple ensemble! And she looks so delighted at the child who presented her with flowers--what a beautiful smile.
