On September 9, Princess Alexia of the Netherlands christened Van Oord’s new trailing suction hopper dredger "Vox Alexia" in Rotterdam. Vox Alexia is named after Princess Alexia. After the ceremony, Princess Alexia was given a tour on the ship, and met a number of crew members, and members of the Young Van Oord Association.
OSCAR DE LA RENTA Cold-shoulder Ruffled Wool Midi Dress
What poise from this 18 year old. I wish her all the best and sincerely hope we only write here what is encouraging and uplifting to her. - AnneLise
ReplyDeleteThe dress would have been better sleeveless. Otherwise, Very confident young lady, I think she should be crown princess.
DeleteJill
Jill, please stop thinking.
Delete"..., please stop thinking."
DeleteReally? Wow. I would hope that we all continue to think, and form our own opinions. Geeeze.
Europa
Really Europa you find it appropriate to say and I quote:-I think she should be crown princess. When the Netherlands actually has a great crown princess in Catharina-Amalia. WOW nice..
DeleteI watched the video and she seemed to do brilliantly: cool, confident, assured and polite, and all quite remarkable given that this was her first solo public engagement. Her parents should be proud of her.
ReplyDeleteAs for the dress, yes it is one of Maxima's so kudos for the re-wear/re-use. I thought at first that it was too dressy for the occasion, but then given that she was the focus of the engagement, and it was quite a special event, I think the look was justified. I like her hair style but would have preferred black shoes.

Very pretty young lady, but style-wise she's definitely her mother's daughter. DIQ
ReplyDeleteWearing her mother's dress ! It suits her rather well, but not really age appropriate IMV
ReplyDelete@MaryT. 18 years means majority. She is considered as being an adult for the law. So she can dress like an adult too. Rose
Delete@ Rose, we are not here in the field of "allowed" or "majority" or not ! My comment refers to an appreciation concept, I see this dress more for a woman in her 30s or 40s or more, rather than for a teenager, which Alexia still is. It is so different from dresses we have seen earlier for her. But I applaud the idea of a rewear, as I said below. (sentence shortcut from the computer)
DeleteShe has worn much more revealing clothes in the past. This is a fine choice for her. Do you think she should she be wearing a little sailor dress instead? This de la Renta is fun and matches Alexia's personality. I'm happy to see it getting another chance instead of hanging in a closet being forgotten.
DeleteBeautiful young lady; is she wearing Queen Maxima’s dress?
ReplyDeleteShe certainly is and it looks good on her. Great idea to wear it too. How many 18 year olds have dresses like this in their wardrobes? Princess Alexia looks fabulous and very like her mother
DeleteAnnieM
I sense the dress was chosen for the nautical theme, waves, water ripple on the sleeves, otherwise I am not keen on the design or fit on her. She looks pretty and the colour is good on her.
ReplyDeletewell done Alexia! You showed youth and smiles and seems to enjoy it! Very pretty with the hair out of your face, great colour and look! Dress maybe a little bit to tihgt, but the sleeves suit you very well!
ReplyDeleteShe wears the dress well. Its is not thight, Princess Alexia is curvy.
DeleteShe is the spitting image of her mother, while her sisters look more like the King.
ReplyDeleteShe has her grandmother’s hamster’ cheeks. So she looks like that side of the family too.
DeleteWearing her mother's leftovers is not a good idea. She should dress like the young pretty girl she is.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 19:04
DeleteIt is just good she is aware of the problems of our planet and wearing a dress of her mother. She inherited the beauty of her mother too. She has beautiful hair. I like her in that dress. She is the perfect person for baptizing this ship. I hope we will see her again helping her parents during her sabbatical year. Rose
@Anonymous9/9/23 21:02 yeah right, and the next day they fly to Barcelona for a shopping trip? This 'awareness' is all fake.
DeleteWe have seen the same in other RFs, Spain, Norway; not sure about Belgium. I am less enthusi
DeleteShe looks poised, confident and very stylish. Her hair is amazing so feminine. I think her outfit is age appropriate, with an edge to it. What did you want her to wear? Jacket and pants? No no perfect for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely, Alexia looks poised and absolutely lovely! MR
DeletePerhaps some critics would be happier if she wore her school uniform.
DeleteShe looks breathtaking. Dresses usually have those washing instructions sewn in, but I never heard of age instructions, making it inappropriate to wear mother's dresses. She has chosen well. (GM)
ReplyDeleteHope they don't start sewing in an "age instructions" label in dresses.
DeleteIf so, I'm in trouble ๐
Rose
DeleteFun dress that looks very good on her. Youthful.
ReplyDeleteLadyofthemanor
She is her mothers daughter in every way. The confidence and ease she displays is so very much like Maxima.
ReplyDeleteYes true!
DeleteWhat a beauty Alexia is. And with reference to the wonderful hair-do, maybe Mรกxima can follow her daughter more. This dress is certainly Maxima's. Never liked it cause too much " hassle"
ReplyDeleteLovely, poised and confident. Alexia also looks as though she is happy to be there. I am impressed by all three of the daughters of the King and Queen. They should be proud.

ReplyDeleteShe is so confident and bubbly and oozes personality, love it! Reminds me very much of her mother. She looks stunning, she is a real beauty. Looking very stylish. Well done to her.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, Ava.
DeleteNicely said.
That's the combo I like most in a woman, any woman: real beauty plus a bubbling strong personality (but with a composed behaviour when needed).
A good upbringing always shows as much as the lack thereof.
Just smashing Alexia, you go, girl!!
I agree!
DeleteHer hair looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI don't like arms of the dress at all, not on Alexia, not on anybody. But pretty girls can wear anything and still look good.
ReplyDeletePrincess Alexia Is simply amazing from head- hair to toe.
ReplyDeleteWell done!!
More of this, please.
And dear Princess Alexia, Don't be frightened to get into your mum's shoe cupboard.
DeleteYes, dear @ Deadeggs.
DeleteHope shell' get used to high heels, step by step (to be taken literally).
I have watched a video and I am really impressed by Alexia's confidence and excellent relational skills.
She was so warm and kind to all of the crew.
Extremely well done!!๐๐๐๐๐
Her parents must be super- proud!!
I quite like this dress on her. It's a good occasion for this re-wear/recycling as it ties in with the maritime theme. The Dutch do this often, I can remember that Princess Mabel once had been wearing a dress that belonged to the then Queen Beatrix, and if I'm not mistaken it was in fact the dress from her engagement to Claus von Amsberg in 1965.
ReplyDeleteIf I had something named after me, I'd prefer it to be a smart Italian car or a perfume rather than a "suction hopper dredge" ๐๐๐
ReplyDeleteBut then perhaps not a perfume.
A perfume called "Eau de Deadeggs" would probably be a flop. ๐๐๐
๐๐๐
DeleteLove your humour!
Deleteoh dear, dressed in one of her Mum's dresses that is way outdated with the shoulder cutouts. Not ever a good look. Edwina
ReplyDeleteShe could fit perfectly the role of the heir to the throne. Amazing self-confidence and class!
ReplyDeleteSuz
i thought so too, she seems more prepared than her siblings
Deletem
Nice looking dress, but the sleeves are a little too much for me. She is a beautiful girl. josebabe
ReplyDeleteAt 18 years of age (born June 2005) Princess Alexia is doing well.
ReplyDeleteHer mum and dad have prepared her well for her flight from the nest.
And how great that she’s done her shopping in her mum’s wardrobe.
The sustainability fashion campaigners should be very happy.
I’m cheering for you chรจre Princess.
Princess Alexia looks wonderful in this dress. Not everyone can carry this kind of style but she looks at ease and oozes confidence. Her hair looks so lovely and shiny, shoes and bag well choosen.
ReplyDeleteThis was her first solo event but she handled herself like a pro. Well done! Definitely look forward seeing her more often!
Kaarin
