Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco received the new French Ambassador to Monaco, Jean D'Haussonville, at the Prince's Palace.
On Tuesday September 5, 2023, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene received Jean d'Haussonville, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Principality of Monaco. French Ambassador presented his credentials to the Prince. From 2010 until the beginning of 2023, Jean D’Haussonville was general manager of the national domain of Chambord, in the Loir-et-Cher.
What great look for Charlene and the wife of the Ambassador. The lady on the left is a bit more casual but still very nice. Three ladies three different looks. That is refreshing. Nice to see the Pss again. css
ReplyDeletei think Charlene is over dressed, a mid length dress in another colour would have been great
DeleteBonjour, la dame de gauche est l'épouse du nouvel ambassadeur, c'est la belle-soeur du comte de Paris.
DeleteCharlene looks very good in this outfit, though it strikes me as being more for night time than day wear. It fits her very well though, and once more it is a hallmark of her simple, straightforward, non-fussy design choices.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting used to her dark hair now, though I loved her cropped blonde look from before, which gave a very pleasing 'edge' to her style and clothing choices.

Above fashion, not following it, such a simple outfit and she looks lovely. (GM)
ReplyDeleteNicely said.
DeleteI agree. So nice to see someone who is not slavishly following the latest trend whether it suits or not. Ladyofthemanor
DeleteI agree, but regarding the hair ok for the color, however not for the styling. She might be in a process of letting them grow a bit.
DeleteGorgeous outfit for Charlene: classic but very stylish, with a modern twist. Love her hair and make-up too.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly except for the hair. I would love to see the platinum colour again. Much better suited to her skin colour and makeup IMO.
DeleteThis outfit gives a quite severe impression. Why opting for a dark long skirt during a daytime event when the other ladies wear quite casual summery outfits? The hair colour does nothing for her in my eyes, it looks just blah. I do miss her statement platinum pixie cut.
ReplyDeleteIt is not a skirt, but trousers (Ralph Lauren). anna e.
DeleteBecause she wants it that way. Simple. I can't believe this blog, which should be fun and about fashion, ends up allowing people to critique personal choices that nobody should be able to question. It's their life, let them be. She wants her hair darker now, maybe later she'll go back to platinum. Will it change the course of History?
DeleteDear @anna e.
DeleteThanks for the info. You are right, they are (very) wide trousers.in lux navy .
And if I have read correctly, the top is also by Ralph Lauren.
It is described as a "Mulberry Silk Off-The-Shoulder Sweater in Lux Navy by Ralph Lauren".
A comment by a blogger on another site said ....
Look of the day, of the month, of the year!
Absolutely stunning. No words to describe such a style!"
am with you on this one Beth, the hair and the dark clothing
DeleteHope she goes back to platinum.
DeleteKay
I think Charlene looks smashing. 10/10.
ReplyDeleteBut I´m not sure about the dresscode?
Charlene looks great. The simplicity of the outfit is perfect. I also like the outfits worn by the other ladies.
ReplyDeleteThat color is beautiful and the whole dress, she looks at ease, wonderful! X
ReplyDeleteshe only wears black or white lately!
Deletems
Home run for HSH! She looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteCharlène est magnifique dans cette tenue. Élégance et sobriété et cette touche finale avec ce collier en perles
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
Pss Charlene, looks lovely in this ensemble.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful seeing Princess Charlene looking so completely at ease and wearing such a beautiful dress. Well done Charlene!
ReplyDeleteWhat an fantastic dress on Charlene. 10 of 10.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks great!! As I myself libe close to Monaco, I do ask myself about this choice for daytime summer appointment. Still very nice
ReplyDeleteI think there must have been a mix up with the memos. Or maybe the new Embassador has got a new secretary who hasn't learnt the ropes yet 😀
DeleteIf it really is trousers + top as anna e. told, it is ok in summer daytime. Another aspect is that dresscode is always defined by the highest placed person in the pecking order. In Monaco that means Albert and/or Charlene.
DeletePersonally I¨'m happy to see wide trousers as I do have rather similar, but in black. Now I know what I wear for a certain future event.
Margot
Why should anyone question what Charlene is wearing? There is someone to make sure the level of formality is correct. These are pretty standard events. Other royals families aren't second guessed in the way Charlene is. We are also living in times when women can have some freedom in their dress, unlike men who are always in suits.
DeleteLovely outfit. - Louise
ReplyDeleteQuel magnifique look dans cette tenue sobre mais élégante qui convient bien à la silhouette de Charlène !
ReplyDeleteCharlenes dress is lovely but she looks little bit overdreased if you look at the two other ladys.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe Princess Charlene had another, more formal, evening/night event to go to straight after this occasion and had no time for a change.
Delete@deadeggs u cant keep making excuses for Charlene, its what it is, dark outfits in the summer
Delete@anon 21:18 There is no rule against wearing dark colors in the summer. That is old fashioned, made up nonsense. Charlene is in NAVY, which is known as THE spring-summer substitute for black for those that want to wear a dark color but choose to avoid black. For example, navy and white combination is a spring and summer staple. It may be more traditional to wear bright colors now, but it is not a must.
Delete@Anon 21:18
DeleteDon’t understand what all the fuss is if someone wears navy in summer.😏
Dear@ Deadeggs,
Deletenavy has always been considered as a traditional summery colour too, together with white and red.
I think it all depends on a lack of mind flexibility- so as to say- according to which there are strict daytime vs. evening or night colours a woman has to wear.
Why not consider the overall context, the occasion, the royal engagement in this case, the protocol to be followed on a particular event?
It seems someone is still living lightyears away from contemporary fashion trends and It seems there's no hope for any update whatsoever either.
Once again, it does not surprise me in the least, though.
If one's mindset is old, all related ideas, including old- fashioned sartorial and shoe choices, are a sort of natural consequences imo.
I think that old age dwells in one' s mind more than in one's body.
Hence the majority of repeated complaints being produced over and over again throughout this blog.
@ Deadeggs
Delete...and I forgot to clarify that contemporary fashion trends does not mean being a slave to fashion at all costs.
It means having the ability to mix and match also traditional or classic colours into modern combo schemes, according to one's own personality.
For those unsure of the dress code, I’m of the opinion that if you visit the princess in her castle, she can choose whatever she wants to wear! As for Charlene, I think this is one of the most beautiful looks she’s ever been photographed in. I wish she’d stopped changing her face long ago, but there must be tremendous pressure on her to look as perfect as possible. Still, she had such a different face when she first hit the spotlight, and I’m always sad to see her so changed and to think of living in a life which somehow demands this. (Chelsea)
ReplyDeleteCharlene looks absolutely awsome here.
ReplyDeleteApparently the wife of the ambassador didn't think it was a big deal her husband offering his credentials. Its an offence imv. She is completely underdressed, while this is a very official occasion in all countries. Albert et Charlene look splendid and official.
ReplyDeleteThe ambassador’s wife is n o t present.
Delete@Anonymous 6/9/23 19:33am - the ambassador’s wife IS present. Mme. d’Haussonville is on the left of the group photo, dressed in a blue shirt and white trousers, wearing a straw fedora.
DeleteAmbassador’s wife’s outfit: perfectly groomed. Have you been to Monaco? This summer style fits in perfectly. - AnneLise
DeletePrincess Charlene looks the epitome of elegance. I love those wide-leg pleated trousers and navy is very summery colour. Ambassadors wife looks also very good in the white dress. -Siri
ReplyDeleteOne of her best outfits. She looks best in plain colors :white, navy or black...
ReplyDeleteContrary to what a lot of people think I prefer her hair darker like it is now and not that unnatural platinum blond. Nowadays people can wear more or less what they want on any occasion. We even saw it at royal weddings lately. Here we see it again, Charlene rather in an outfit one would expect on an evening event and the other ladies in more casual outfits. Things like dress code belong more and more to another era. Rose
Is she wearing pants or a dress! She does look lovely though! Fitzhugh
ReplyDeleteCharlene looks great. I thought at first she was a bit overdressed for this appearance. Another website has identified the Zelah pleated chiffon pants, so no, she is not wearing a long skirt. The sweater with the pants is a great look for her.
ReplyDeleteRenee
I absolutely love Charlene here. Usually not a fan of her more quirky style. But now: color, fit (off shoulder with fantastic ‘undergarment’ something very often commented about here), hair-color, make-up, posture, jewelry. I love it all. She looks serene with a lovely happy smile.
ReplyDeleteA simple knit top with wide-legged trousers projects an easy elegance, entirely in keeping with the occasion. I think P.Charlene looks lovely here. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteAgain , here's a more skilful pieces combo than it could appesr at first sight.
ReplyDeleteThe total brand is Ralph Lauren but the pieces execution is clever: an overly structured and snug off- the- shoulders navy top and - according to the official description- lightweight airy chiffon pants, which give movement and swish in the lower half of this combo.
I'd say: what a glorious way of putting an absolute classic and classy colour within a modern fashionable scheme( snug top, chiffon pants)!
This outfit lets Charlene's statuesque figure stay centre stage again.
No bling except for the one strand pearl necklace, no embellishments to make it all busy.
Just essential class.
A work of art.
Charlene is correctly dressed: as formal as it is required by this sort of engagement( same applies to the mens' ensembles).
Frankly, the two ladies standing at the sides of the pic are too casually attired imo.
Stunning!
ReplyDeleteKay
Stunning!
ReplyDeleteAre Albert and Charlene hosting this event? In that case, don’t they determine the dresscode? Regardless, whether or not this violates somebody’s dresscode, Charlene looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and elegant ensemble from Charlene! She looks marvelous and is perfectly attired to receive a new ambassador.
