On September 2, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Timothy Laurence attended the Braemar Gathering 2023 held at the Memorial Park in Braemar, Scotland. The Gathering has a long history and in its modern form it stretches back nearly 200 years.
The Braemar Gathering is a traditional Scottish Highland Games which predates the 1745 Uprising. Regularly attended by the Sovereign and members of the Royal Family, the annual Braemar Gathering has been run in its present form since 1832. The Braemar Gathering is the most famous of the Highland Games.
I always look forward to seeing the Royals at the Braemar Gathering. They seem almost giddy. According to my DNA profile I'm more Scottish than anything else, so perhaps I feel a kindred connection to the games. The King looks superb in his kilt, the Queen looks lovely, and, except for her pale tights, the Princess Royal looks radiant! Also, from what I can see, Sir Timothy Laurence looks handsome. His plaid tie is very nice.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see them keeping up this tradition. I like the tartans, and the feather in Queen Camilla's hat.
ReplyDeleteLike Princess Anne's red jacket and hat. Queen Camilla's outfit is okay.

ReplyDeleteHa Ha Ha , they wouldn't sit this way when Queen was alive.

I noticed that too. Nice change
DeleteI just love these photos. These Highland Games seem to be so much fun. QE loved them so much and was always pictured laughing there. It is so nice to see the tradition going on and to see the special humour between Charles and Anne. I also love Camilla's outifit. She looks so good and relaxed. And seems to have a holiday tan. Great legs. She should wear these knee length skirts and fitted jackets more often instead of her usual 'housewifey' shirt dresses.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Charles, Camilla, Anne, and Tim out and enjoying the Highland Games! They all see to be having a good time together. Love Camilla's hat and Anne's red jacket and hat are wonderful on her.

If I'm not mistaken, Camilla's outfit is a re-wear and she looks good in it. I like the fit of it on her, as well as the shorter skirt...and I like her choice of hat. It suits her very well.

Wonderful outfits, lovely interaction between king and his sister and Camilla's legs (last pic) are amazing at that age. I.P.
ReplyDeleteOMG why should older ladies not be attractive, why are older ladies synonym with being unattractive, please show some respect.
DeleteDear Greet,
DeleteI DID show respect by mentioning her perfect legs which I am "jealous" of. I did not say anything about being unattractive. So don't read between the lines but just the exact respectful words I wrote. Thank you. I.P.
Totally agree with you, Anon 6 26. I read your comment as a compliment. Many women in their 70s struggle with fluid retention and puffy ankles. Princess Michael of Kent, just a few years older, is a case in point. Both royal ladies are fortunate to have avoided this so far

The Queen's outfit looks wonderful. The Princess Royal looks lovely, I particularly love her red fitted jacket.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. Everybody looks good and relaxed. The little girls are adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe Princess Royal looks very dashing in red, wonderful smack of colour. Love the subtle pink of the King’s socks.

The best dressed is King Charles
ReplyDeleteKing Charles is always very well dressed but I would argue that King Felipe of Spain would give him a run for the money in terms of who is best dressed. I’m not saying this to be argumentative but to give credit where credit is due.
DeleteBeautiful tartans. I like Camilla's costume the best. I noticed that the skirts of her dresses always have a very good fit for her figure. Camilla's style is an inspiration to my mother, who is the same age.
ReplyDeleteRed color is excellent for Princess Anne. The only thing I have minor objections to are tights that are too bright with a touch of white. It's my personal antipathy towards white stockings, because I think they only suit little girls and bridesmaids, but they are also worn quite often by Danish Queen.
Stephanie
Dear Stephanie, to quote you ''Camilla's style is an inspiration to my mother'' not to me, I am 76 years old, healthy and fit, I would never wear old fashion clothes, housewifey' shirt dresses and sensible shoes, like Camilla does.
Deletemjt
Dear @mjt, I am about the same age so let me tell you: Stephanie did not mean you or me. She writes about her own mother. And then, you know - clothes don't make people (and they don't make them younger either), so what we wear is not what we are. Camilla dresses in a traditional style, which is neither old fashioned not housewifey but something different. (GM)
DeleteDear MJT, I find Camilla elegant and her dress is not old fashioned. Admittedly, I don't like all of them, but the vast majority of them look elegant. It is a pity we can't judge what you're wearing because we can't see your photo. You're probably wearing high heels even for a sports day in nature.
DeleteStephanie
I agree with mjt. I am also 76 years old. The only tartan I like is the one the skirt of Princess Anne is made of. But I think I would prefer a classic coat made in this pattern. I saw a woolen coat last winter designed by Tommy Hilfiger and the pattern was something similar. I had the opportunity to buy it at a reduced price but I finally didn't do it. I thought by myself better buy a plain coat which will be still fashion for the next 5 years. Rose
DeletePicture 7 is wonderful !! They really have a good time together !!
ReplyDeleteI miss the late Queen, especially on this occasion that she visibly enjoyed. Camilla's skirt length is the one I would hotly wish back in fashion, because it flatters everyone in any age. She has some plaid two-pieces, wears them in Scotland and they are good. This is also something I would wish back as a fashion item: two-pieces with fitted jackets, Queen Silvia has quite a lot of them. (GM)
ReplyDelete@GM. I prefer Queen Silvia's two-pieces with fitted jackets than those worn by Queen Camilla. It was never out of fashion. You can still find them in the better fashion stores or order them at a professional sewer. Unfortunately professional sewers can't be found almost anymore. When the young men and women who still wish learn it have their diploma, they look for a job in the haute-couture or semi haute-couture branch, or in the better confection branch. They prefer to work for a "patron" rather than start a business of their own. We must not forget that professionally made clothes are not cheap and that common people don't always have the money to spend on that. They don't have the opportunity to wear this kind of clothes very often either. Rose
DeleteWith King Charles has come a far more relaxed atmosphere among the royal family in their behaviour in public : quite good!
ReplyDeleteHere I see a well dressed to the occasion family enjoying itself, great.

ReplyDeleteQ Camilla looks very elegant in this suit. She gets lots of wear out of it. I do like Pss Anne's Combo as well. The red jacket really stands out. css
