This year, Belgium is hosting the 19th informal summit of the heads of state of German-speaking countries, namely, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. Invited by King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, five heads of state, along with their spouses, are taking part in the summit.
On September 12, the leaders, King Philippe, Prince Alois, Grand Duke Henri, German President Steinmeier, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and Swiss President Alain Berset travelled to German-speaking East Belgium. There, in Eupen, they visited the family company Kabelwerk Eupen, a leader in the cable, plastic and foam industry.
Queen Mathilde, Princess Sophie, Muriel Zeender Berset, Elke Buedenbender and Doris Schmidauer visited Conserverie et Moutarderie Belge, which is a food manufacturer in Raeren, located on the German border near Aachen. As a final event of the summit, a meeting on circular economy was held after these visits.
ReplyDeleteQ. Mathilde looks fabulous, this colorful dress looks lovely, she wears it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteGD MT looks good from what I can see, like her jacket.
Can't make up my mind if I like the pattern of Mathildes dress. Sophie seems to be wearing tweet. MT the jacket is fine the pant or dress not so much, well tomorrow is a new day. css
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde looks great again in another colourful dress. Thankfully GD Maria Theresa has a smarter outfit and looks good

QM looks very nice in this dress--until I saw the last photo I was going to give this dress a thumbs down but maybe it looks better as a whole, full-length dress than in parts shown while Mathilde is sitting. Maria Theresa certainly looks much better today--much more polished than the night before. I like Sophie's tweed--very pretty and I feel sure I have seen it before.

Why must Sophie of Liechtenstein curtsies to Mathilde?
ReplyDeleteMaybe because Mathilde is a queen and Sophie is a princess ? Rose
DeleteThis is a style in which I like Queen Mathilde very much. The boat neck, the fabric, the orange and red colors suit her well. The dress is a copy of the green dress with pink flowers she has been wearing 3 times this summer. It looks like she feels good in this kind of dresses. Rose
ReplyDeleteI really like Mathilde's dress, however, as often, not her hair styling. There was obviously no dress code, most ladies made a good choice. I regret a bit the difference of choice between Qn Mathilde and the Austrian first lady. I also hope the German first lady is doing well.
ReplyDelete@MaryT. There was no dress code because it was an informal meeting. I think queen Mathilde's hair suffered a bit from the heat. My hair never falls good when it is hot either. I also think she does not invite her hairdresser each time she has to receive people at the Chateau in Laeken. When it is a formal event or when she has to be somewhere for an important visit, her hairdresser comes to the castle to do her hair. She could adopt a shorter hairstyle, but I think she prefers to wear it a bit longer because she often does it in an updo, but without using a lot of false hair. Rose
DeleteI agree with you on circumstances and her wish to keep this length, but honestly I prefered her hair turned inwards rather than outwards.
DeleteI agree Mary T. When she was younger her hair was turned inwards more often. Occasionally she styles it that way but not very often. I like her hairstyle also more when it is turned inwards. Rose
Delete@Helen. While the ladies visited a food factory in Raeren, which is making principally mustard, the men visited Kabelwerk AG in Eupen.
