This year, Belgium is hosting the 19th informal summit of heads of states of German-speaking countries on September 11 and 12 in Brussels and Eupen.
At the invitation of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, Prince Alois, Princess Sophie, Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Elke Büdenbender, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, Brigitte Van der Bellen, Swiss President Alain Berset and Muriel Zeender Berset are participating in the meeting.
On the first day of the summit on September 11, a working meeting on space travel took place in the presence of astronauts Alexander Gerst, Carmen Possnig, Matthias Maurer and Samantha Cristoforetti. The day ended with a concert by the Young Belgian Strings and a dinner at Laeken Castle.
On September 12, the heads of state will visit the company Kabelwerk Eupen AG, a family business in Eupen that is a leader in the cable, plastic and foam industry, while their wives will visit the Conserverie et Moutarderie Belge in Raeren. The informal summit will end with a working meeting on the circular economy.
Interesting in the last photo to see the the heights : Mathilde and the Lichtenstein couple are really tall, eh!
ReplyDeleteor you could say the rest of them are rather short.
DeleteWhen Queen Mathilde is wearing high heels she is almost taller than King Phillippe. On another website I saw a lot of pictures where they took a long walk with the guests in the gardens of Laeken. The ladies had changed their high heels for flats and sneakers. Rose
DeleteWhat a fabulous look for Queen Mathilde! The star of the party in sunny yellow. She looks terrific. Too bad Princess Sophie is wearing a black/dark blue pantsuit. It suits her, but you have to look for her in the group picture. All other ladies look nice. The mustard suit is a great colour for Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. I love that you can see they are really glad to see each other. Kudos to King Philippe for wearing a summery suit on this hot day in Belgium (28°).
ReplyDeleteIt seems yellow is in for this event. I like the dress from Mathilde also the suit from MT, but she should have at least used a different top OMO. css
ReplyDeleteGD MT yet again in a huge pair of trousers that swallows her up whole. I'm also not overly convinced of Mrs. van der Bellen's red outfit. The top looks awkward. Mrs. Büdenbender's soft pink dress looks best to me.
ReplyDeleteNice to see this group together. I like GD Maria Theresa's trouser suit but a contrasting top would have improved it. Queen Mathilde's dress is nice enough but the material seems rather stiff and therefore old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteYes, queen Mathilde's dress was new in 2015. She wore it on several occasions. I think she can still wear it just like she does with all her dresses that are not new any more. She must have a very large dressing room to store all her older and new clothes. Rose
DeleteQueen Mathilde's yellow dress by Natan which is a re-wear from 2015 is still fashion today. She wore the dress on several occasions since then.
ReplyDeleteGD Henri and GD Maria Teresa were in Brussels on Saturday for the Remembrance Mass of King Baudouin in the Church of Laeken, as well as Prince Alois and Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein. Unfortunately no pictures of that on this blog, although there were more relatives of the BRF present at the church. I am curious what the ladies are wearing tonight for the concert and diner. I'll have a quick look at "Garderobe royale". Rose
Pretty yellow dress for QM that looks good on her. Lovely way to start the visit--with a ray of sunshine colored dress.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Everyone looks nice, I like the yellow color; MTh's trousers are a bit too wide for her and Qn Mathilde's hairstyle looks old fashioned.
