On August 10, 2023, King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, their daughters Crown Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, and Queen Sofia watched the movie Barbie at the Cineciutat cinema in Palma de Mallorca. Barbie is a 2023 American fantasy comedy film directed by Greta Gerwig, who wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach. The Spanish Royal Family is currently in Palma de Mallorca to spend the 2023 summer holiday.

ReplyDeleteI believe there's an arrangement with the press. They allow them to photograph them for certain "outings" in exchange for being left alone at other times.

ReplyDeleteWhy is it that the summer holiday of the Spanish royal family never seems to be private? Each year we see so many pictures of them during their holiday on Mallorca; one has not the idea these are 'papparazzi ones'. It's as if the press is informed upfront about their whereabouts.
ReplyDeleteThat's because they are. Like the Dutch Royals, they have an agreement with the press - they are highly visible during these outings & in return will be left alone throughout the rest of the year.

I personally believe that the Spanish Royal family don't mind being followed around during their Summer holidays. Unlike other Royal houses, they don't seem to make deals with the press to leave them alone, or if they do, they don't enforce it much. Perhaps they just like being seen enjoying their holidays.

DeleteI was able to meet him when he was studying in the US and my family was invited to a reception aboard the ship, “Juan Sebastian Elcano” which was in Maryland. I have a wonderful photo of him with my three children. He was a handsome young man then. He is very, very handsome man now! Ana Maria

ReplyDeleteQueen Sofia's dress is very nice and Sofia wears a very nice dress for a teenager one a summer evening. I do not like Lenore's dress.It is shapeless despite the high waist. Fabric looks cheap and the flash photography makes it extra shiny.

ReplyDeleteHowever, the pink dress seems again like something an older person would wear and I don't like the shiny material, Queen Sofia seems determined to stick to nightwear vibes (3rd time this week) and given that, although it's a casual event, there would be photographers present, Queen Letizia's outfit looks like something you might wear to the supermarket.
They are in Mallorca, a hippie island...you should have seen the late Duchess of Alba in the island and was the woman with most totales in the world

DeleteThe Queen still looks at her husband like a newlywed. I hope that is genuine amid some rumors circulating which I don’t believe. I think her tan looks great but it is a bit much. Hopefully it is more spray tan than sun damage tan.. that is just my opinion as a medical professional.

DeleteThe shiny dress is fashion this summer 2023. It is called metallic. There are shoes and handbags in the metallic look also. The colors are pink, turquoise blue, green and of course silver and gold. It is something young women like. It is normal that CP Leonor has chosen this dress. Why can't she wear nail polish ? CP Amalia is wearing dark nail polish all the time. They are not different from other young women of their age. By the way I read in a fashion magazine that the new color of nail polish for the winter season of 2023-24 is or dark chocolate brown or moca brown. Deep burgundy red is still fashion too. Rose

Regardless the material, Leonor's dress (and the wearer, above all) is a head turner for sure.
