On August 21, Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands opened the IFLA World Library and Information Congress at Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre in Ahoy. The 88th edition of the congress of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is taking place from 21 to 25 August in Rotterdam. The congress is the international flagship professional and trade event for the library and information services sector.
i would like to see the back of this dress, it seems likes there is another pink ribbon at the back and an open back? very interesting

Deletefound it, not impressive, would have been better without the back ribbon
Missy you are right, not impressive. But at least Laurentien-like :-) (GM)
DeleteThx for the image of the back. Yes Missy I understand what you mean but I saw this before on other dresses. The designers do it like this to keep the dress in place. If you take the back ribbons away, with the broad shoulders the shoulders will not stay in place, nor are the sleeves. Rose
DeletePrincess Laurentien wears a lovely dress. It is quite a normal dress for her. We were getting used to see her in more extravagant clothes. Her hair has a nice fresh cut too. She looks always very engaged to her work. I suppose the 2 other ladies are representatives of the most important national and university libraries of the Netherlands. Rose
ReplyDeleteDon’t like the dress, nor the earrings! And most of all I dislike the color and the cut of her hair. Awful.

DeleteNothing positive you could find? Oh well, thanks for your opinion.
Yes, deadeggs, couldn’t find anything positive. Do you mind !
DeleteDon't mind at all @Anon11:15
DeleteGuess we musn't have been brought up in the same way.
But it's not important. Let's move on.
I had a very good upbringing, deadeggs.
DeleteVery tame dress by Princess Laurentien's standards and doesn't she look great? it's a little long for my taste but still a good look
ReplyDeleteIt was the word "tame" that came to my mind as well :-) , so I can understand that missy was missing the back view - maybe there is something completely untamed there? She looks very pretty.

I quite like it, but I wish for a different colour on her shoes. Too dark to go well with the swishy, summery dress.
ReplyDeleteToday' look is very nice also the shoes. Don't care for the ribbon on her back, but the front of her dress is fine. This I believe was the best look in a very long time. css
ReplyDeleteThis looks to be quite a pretty dress, though it would have been good to see the back view, the pink ribbon, I wonder what that is for?
ReplyDeleteIndeed for Laurentiens standards this is almost a conservative look, I don't particularly like it, but again I can not recall a single piece in her wardrobe that Ive liked. The hot pink is refreshing!
ReplyDeleteLuna
Yep, @Luna you are right. But Princess Laurentien is an unconventional dresser.
DeleteOften her combos are quite zany but I love them.
Of late, she seems to have toned down her wardrobe.
Hope this is just a temporary pause.
Princess Laurentien, like her sister-in-law, Queen Maxima, is not just a pretty face. She has received international recognition and responsibilities for her work in combating illiteracy.
Like Princess Stephanie of Monaco, she get on with her work and doesn’t look for whistles and trumpets to play to tell the world about what they are doing.
I like the dress, it is quite neat but her hair.....it should be forbidden at least for royals to wear your hair like this.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Haircut is awful.
DeleteWould love to see how you wear your hair @Iris.
DeleteHope it's not a style and/or colour which is forbidden.
If so, you may have the hair police knocking on your door.
I do not agree with you Iris. It is a normal up-to-date short haircut. Not everybody likes to have long hair. "It should be forbidden at least for royals". Are we in an Islamic country were women are not free to dress like they want or to wear make-up or nail polish ? You have the right not to like P Laurentien's hairstyle but she has every right to wear her hair like she wants. Maybe next week when Q. Maxima will be back you can discuss her hair like so many others will do again. Rose
Delete@Rose: good point;-))! Siv

DeleteCounting the days to when Queen Maxima will be back.
DeleteLooking forward to seeing the "best of" from her wardrobe shopping in Greece
Hello people!! I am Dutch and we say what we think and you must not take the saying "it must be forbidden' so seriously. Take it easy! Nevertheless what ever you say, her hair is a disgrace. Thank you. :-) And by the way Rose, I have the right to think it is awfull just like you have the right to think it is not awfull.
Rose
Love this look on Laurentien, although I haven't seen a back view of the dress. Only quibble is the one pink ribbon that is longer than the skirt on the dress. I would have shortened the ribbon to approximately match the length of the other side that hangs about 2/3 of the way down the skirt. S.M.
ReplyDeleteYes to the new hair color !
ReplyDeleteI like it, too, contrary to many others here. But I would like to take a closer look to form a better opinion on the matter.
DeleteJolie robe à on goût
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
