On August 11, King Harald and Queen Sonja visited Mjøndalen area in Drammen that was hit by the floods. There, the King and Queen met with local authorities, shopkeepers, emergency services personnel and affected locals. The Storm Hans caused cancelled ferries, delayed flights, flooded streets and injured people. Parts of eastern and central Norway are still on red alert as the country battles widespread flooding and landslides.
Un couple à l'unisson pour visiter cette région touchée par ces inondations ; je suis heureuse de voir le Roi même s'il se déplace avec des cannes !
ReplyDeleteVery sad about the floods/fires this summer around the world... The Norway Majesties are great, I hope they brought some relief with their visit.
ReplyDeleteGot to love them for wearing jeans. Comfort, relaxed and amazingly classy at the same time. What a wonderful couple.
ReplyDeleteWell put!

ReplyDeleteVery courageous of King Harald to visit the areas affected by the floods. Queen Sonia is of great support to him with all his health problems he encountered lately. I like them dressed in their jeans and rain jackets like the habitants of the town they are visiting. Rose

Totally agree with your comments Rose. They make the effort, together and bring what emotional compassion they can offer, which does make a difference to those they spoke with in the affected areas. Lucy
