This year marks King Carl XVI Gustaf's 50 years as Sweden's head of state. The King ascended the throne on September 15, 1973. As a celebration of the King's 50th anniversary on the throne, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia are paying visits to Sweden's 21 counties. On August 17, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Dalarna county. The King and Queen also visited a photo exhibition at Dalarna Museum in Falun.
What a beautiful outfit for Queen Silvia. Fabulous colour and I love her gold jewellery with it too. The last couple of photos are sweet. What a great couple.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful ensemble, I love it. The color is gorgeous. The outfit, is beautifully tailored and fits superbly. The two tone shoes look great, and I love the addition of the colorful silk scarf blends in well with the outfit. Her jewellery- gorgeous, love the necklace and beautiful brooch.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Ava.
DeleteQ.Silvia looks gorgeous.
Superb fit Indeed.
The king is well groomed and handsome too.
I love Queen Sylvia's outfit. She is so lovely; I saw her in Adelaide years ago such an elegant lady (Tara)
ReplyDeleteQueen Silvia do wear this color so well!!

La reine est merveilleuse
ReplyDeleteQueen Silvia is wearing a beautiful dress and jacket combo and the warm color suits her. On my screen it looks brick red but it is always difficult to say from photos.
ReplyDeleteI do not like her broach not its placement. Looks very odd so far up on the shoulder.
Ladyofthemanor
@ Ladyofthemanor. I like her broach. It is not very odd, very odd is the way Princess Anne sometimes places 2 or 3 broaches in the same area on her jackets or coats. I also saw pictures of Queen Camilla where she putted 2 or 3 little broaches on the lapels of her coat. Rose
DeleteThis one is not the lapel. I would have preferred it there.
DeleteLadyofthemanor
I agree, the position of the brooch is very odd. In my opinion the neckline of the matching blouse/shirt is too low and too much skin is exposed for a lady of this age group. The scarf attached to the Kelly bag is a very “vielle France” look and somewhat dated. Despite my little remarks, the ensemble is very elegant and the colour is wonderful.

Virginia, I don't see anything wrong with her neckline. "A lady of this age group" is also a very odd comment. I am 67 years old. Can't we just stop this age racism (and all racism), is it really so hard to understand that comments like that are no more appropriate. She looks very good and beautiful in this outfit, like she almost always looks.
DeleteAgain, the age-comment, why? Everything is fine and elegant without fuss.
Delete@Virginia. What you call "vieille France" look for the scarf attached to the bag is not outdated. Didn't you notice that a lot of little details we used to do or buy in the 60-tees or 70-tees are coming back into the fashion world ? "Mary-Janes", the shirt dresses, etc...
DeleteAs for the neckline, I think she still looks pretty good, not much wrinkles in the neck. In Sweden she must wear high closed sweaters and blouses almost from September until June because of the colder weather, so let her sit a bit in the sun with a low neckline if she wants too, the winter will last long enough. We have a lovely Queen and a very handsome, always well tailored, King in Sweden 🇸🇪

Yes, he is always well tailored. What I don't quite get is the long hair in the nape of his neck, same his son wears it. It looks like chronically missed hairdresser appointments *giggle* (GM)
DeleteAA - Yes you do! The King and Queen both look phenomenal!
DeleteQ. Sylvia looks so pretty in this suit and the gold jewelery is pretty too!
ReplyDeleteI love her fitted jackets and two-pieces. This is not high or last fashion, this is her own fashion and I don't mind if it is seen as dated as long as she looks fab in it. It is also very different from Princess Anne's dated fashion, Silvia's clothes are not necessarily old, but she selects what is good for her. As for covering aging skin - how far, what is allowed? :-) Necks, underarms and hands are also not what they used to be. Difficult and painful - for us aging women in the first place. (GM)
ReplyDeleteI really like her suit and her shoes look great with it. But most of all, her hair for her age is phenomenal! Is she naturally gifted with thick, smooth, healthy hair? I’d like to know her tricks.
ReplyDeletePlease, abdicate and hand over to Viktoria

DeleteRegarding my neckline comments, I am simply being realistic. From a certain age onwards necklines and arms suffer, cosmetically speaking, and I find women who cover themselves in accordance with the laws of nature simply look better. This has nothing to do with age racisim. My mother was very realistic in this respect and always received compliments for her careful grooming. I did not say that Queen Silvia’s outfit is dated, I spoke about the scarf attached to the Hermes handbag.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, I praised her.

Virginia, you canˋt be more wrong with your comments.

Wie schade, zu glauben, man müsse seine Haut bedecken, nur weil sie jemandes Jugendwahn nicht gefallen könnte. Stanzerl
DeleteTotally agree to susanne and stanzerl!
DeleteVirginia, your comment makes the issue only worse. Is the next level that older women should dress up like the poor women in Afghanistan have to do? The face gets wrinkles too.
DeleteSo lovely!!!!
ReplyDeleteQ Silvia looks great in red. beautiful Panorama, as far as the eye could see. How nice this is Gabriel's Duchy. Wonder if Sofias parents had been there too? css
ReplyDeleteShe is such an elegant lady and never ages!
