Apparently the casual look is Mary's new "uniform". Baggy & wrinkled pants with oversized top. Almost all of the other women are better dressed than the representative of the Danish Royal House. Disappointing. S.M.

If someone thinks about the climate problems before buying new clothes you can have wrinkles in the fabric. If you buy cheap polyester or other synthetic fibers your pants will not wrinkle. But they are very polluting. If they are made of natural fibers like wool, linen or cotton they will wrinkle. If you sit down one hour with a pant made of natural fibers you will have wrinkles. A lot of brands are already making clothes in recycled polyester but it is still very polluting material. Fashionwise : you cannot say that Mary's pant are baggy, they are wide yes but not baggy. Her top is oversized so what, it is fashion and she can wear it, she is tall and thin. Rose

Have you looked at photo 4 which shows a side view? Compare the 2 ladies fit. The rearend and back of the thigh on Mary’s pants has way too much fabric, it is the way the pants are styled regardless of the fabric. BTW her top is 100% polyester. S.M.

Valid point Rose! There are exceptions though to your idea - eg fine wool with a good weave will barely wrinkle. So people can buy non-plastic (aka synthetic) clothes and be substantially wrinkle free… but in the case of linen, yes it wrinkles like crazy, but it’s also such a joy to wear… and do wrinkles actually matter? … I suspect they any public figure choosing linen knows their photos will show wrinkles and doesn’t really care! - AnnaLise

@AnnaLise : When I was younger linen has been high fashion during several summers. My colleagues and me complain that our blouse or dress was wrinkled again and that we just ironed it before we came to work. There was one colleague who said : "don't bother, yes our clothes are wrinkled but at least they are luxurious wrinkles". (in that period linen clothes were more expensive than today). I'm always thinking at that time when I see a queen or princess with wrinkles in her linen pants or shirt. Rose

    5. From what I see, linen is still an expensive fabric to work with.
My mum always said that they were wrinkles with class.

  9. Crown princess Mary knows that less can be more. Perhaps she wanted to dress more "casual" that president Zelensky would feel more comfortable among all those suits. He keeps his own style and I like it. Mary has a wonderful combo with good colours. I like also Olena Zelenska's suit, it's not too formal.

Matching shoes? A beautiful colour but I will always and forever wonder how much their feet hurt at the end of the day with such tight shoes and high heels. Two beautiful and well dressed ladies (even if Mary’s linen suffered some wrinkling), … but heavier on my heart is the tour by the Ukrainian leader and wife, garnering support … making me reflect how close a bigger war can be. These are not just fashion events for photographers: these meetings are highly strategic. - AnneLise

  11. I think both ladies look smart.
Perhaps Mary's pants are linen which is why they appear creased.
Their shoes look identical in the photo where they are sitting down.

  12. From what photos I’ve seen on the net, Madam Zelenska
is a very stylish and beautiful lady. She has a very good fashion sense.
Princess Mary is back on the rails again with her wardrobe.
Love the pantsuits of both ladies. I think they have previewed the problem that could be caused by strong winds at an airport and opted for pantsuits.
So pleased to see that international support for Ukraine is still active.
It breaks my heart to see what is happening with their country.

NOTE : Princess Mary’s top is by Mark Kenly Domino Tan who is a Chinese/Danish fashion designer.
He has won many awards for his work.

Madame Zelenska looks great again. Another perfect trouser suit. I like CP Mary’s outfit in itself but it seems overly casual for the event.

  14. I’m guessing the Danish government wanted to show their support for Ukraine but didn’t want this to seem like an official visit. That would explain the more casual outfits, visiting a Ukrainian church and meeting with the Crown Princess not the Queen or the Crown Prince. I really like what Mary is wearing here. She looks put polished but not overly dressy.

I like Mrs Zelenskyy’s outfit…she is a beautiful woman. The tucks in her jacket give it a more fitted and feminine shape and her haircut is neat and stylish. Mary’s pants are a no because of the wrinkles but if they are made of linen that is hard to avoid. Her top looks quite comfortable.

Mary is casual but it is not the opposite of elegant - she is casually elegant. The top is oversize, but that is not a negative attribute in itself and the belt is very well chosen. Both ladies look very good. (GM)

  19. As seen on the site of the designer, Mark Kenly Domino Tan, Princess Mary's blouse/cape is designed to "drape effortlessly from the shoulders."
