On July 4, 2023, The Princess of Wales attended the second day of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships held at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) in London. The match between British number one Katie Boulter take on Australia’s Daria Saville was called off due to the rain. The Princess of Wales became patron of The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) in 2017.

Yikes, the 80s! But of course she makes it look beautiful.

Très élégant blazer croisé vert pâle/blanc qui flatte Kate par rapport à sa couleur de cheveux ; j'aime beaucoup les perles de ses boucles d'oreilles !
ReplyDeleteVery nice !!!! blazer !
ReplyDeleteThis kind of blazer calls for a pair of trousers instead of a (pleated) skirt. I'm not too keen on its colour either. It's a sports event the PoW's attending, but it looks so 'garden party like' and again those white shoes .... Let's summarize it for me: it's far from a 'wow outfit'
ReplyDeleteLol, agree!
DeleteAnonymous 14:33, yes Wimbledon is a sports event, but it’s a 150-year-old sports event with many traditions, rules and quite some elegance, so you will normally see the royals very elegantly attired. I think she looks absolutely stunning (even if I myself wouldn’t choose the outfit). - AnneLise
DeletePearl jewellery and pointy high white shoes as well for a sport event? 😂 can’t say wow to this choice. However i must say it’s a nice and fresh mint colour.
DeleteAnna
This is a lovely Balmain blazer, and Catherine not only wears it well but looks good in it too.
ReplyDeleteIn some photos, the colour seems brighter than in others; I prefer the paler mint green colour. The jacket would look excellent paired with a long, slim, pair of white slacks or trousers that went all the way down to her white pumps, if she had to wear white pumps.
- Anon 9:13
Everything lovely but the too white, too high shoes,
ReplyDeleteMabel
They are not too high if you can wear them comfortably. That is a you problem. I agree with you about white pumps. I can't stand them.
DeleteA very refreshing and tennis-appropriate color combination. But I find the v-neck to be a bit to deep. It's half way down her chest! Not sure I love the white heels as much as she does. I don't think the white will become as iconic as the nude patent leather trend she nearly single-handedly ushered in a decade ago. Everyone everywhere was wearing them, including me, because of how well Kate wore them. But these severe, very tall, very pointy white shoes just aren't the same for me.
ReplyDelete-Aloise
Aloise - You find the v-neck to be a bit to deep. It's half way down her chest! please, search google ''Princess Diana famous revenge black dress'' Compare to P Diana, P of W dresses like a nun. (no offense)
Deletemjt
Yes but Princess Diana wore the dress with class, it was very elegant. Sorry no offence, can’t be compared here :-(
DeleteMary
She's definitely on an 80s streak these days. Not a fan of the shoulder pads, I have to say.
ReplyDeleteI agree. This type of outfit reminds me of Princess Diana. She used to wear, long pleated skirts with different colour blazers, unfortunately this outfit ages Catherine, I would like to see her in a fresh and young 'ensemble' and not always ankle length skirts she seems to favoured, having said that, she looks very nice and polished as usual. Just one last comment (negative sorry!) her eye makeup imo is too dark.
DeleteMJT
I’m sorry but she is dressed as if she is 70 years old !!
ReplyDeleteA 70 years old lady could wear this ensemble, yes. But all other age classes can do it too. For me, age discrimination of this type is simply senseless. - GM

DeleteAnon 16:23. This has nothing To do with age discrimination whatsoever.
DeleteGorgeous summery look! Catherine looks beautiful--and I love the side part hair style too.
ReplyDeleteJanet
It is a lovely shape for a blazer and an unusual but also lovely colour. The white lapel makes it summery fresh. I could also do without shoulder pads, but this time they are at least not "heightened", if you know what I mean. White heels are generally quite well hated, I don't really get why :-)
ReplyDeleteGM
The original model of the jacket (Balmain) seems to me less 'structured', more beautiful. Kate made it tight (too tight) to look thinner! She has some style and weight issues , Irene
ReplyDeleteIn fact, with the original model of the jacket and with long, loose trousers, it would have been a more contemporary outfit. Irene
ReplyDeleteAlso more modern earrings. No more fake pearls . Irene
ReplyDeleteLovely mint green colour and elegantly cut blazer. There is something about the combo of a rather long skirt and very high healed white shoes that doesn't appeal to me. As Anon 9:13 said, a pair of trousers would be better with the shoes.
ReplyDeleteLadyofthemanor
I love everything about this outfit
ReplyDeleteI don’t like this outfit at all. She looks like my grandmother and her sisters. I don’t like the color nor the cut of the jacket. Her skirt is too long and the white pumps with dark panty’s ( or legcolor??) is awful. She looks great in everything but I don’t like a lot of her outfits she’s wearing the last few months.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your comments!
DeleteThat’s exactly my thoughts of her wearing an outfit she picked up from her mother’s wardrobe in the 80s.
DeleteFiona
I love this outfit. The Balmain Blazer is beautiful, love the fit, design and color. The white pleated skirt is the perfect addition. She looks very elegant. The white accessories in this instance, I love. The pearl drop earrings are the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteVery eighties, much Princess Diana....but who am I to argue? Kate still looks beautiful in it.
ReplyDeleteShe looks great today..a little different look for her, but beautiful still. White shoes are not my favorite either, but with this outfit they look ok.
ReplyDeleteAlso think that a pair of trousers would look better. And why wear fake jewelry if your vaults are stashed with the real thing. Open the vaults, who are they saving it for...
ReplyDeleteWhatever resides in the vaults does not belong to Catherine and therefore she has no access to use any of it.
DeleteFor occasions like this (and many others), she must use her personally owned jewellery.
The stuff in the vaults is either personal property of the Royal Family (not yet passed down to Catherine), or owned by the State, both of which are under the guardianship of the reigning monarch of the time. Those jewels only usually see the light of day for State occasions and state events (including foreign tours), and if smaller pieces like brooches, necklaces, pins and bracelets from that collection do show up at lesser local events, it's usually worn by more senior royals. The process of asking to borrow a piece from the King's office for an occasion is a long and sometimes arduous process.
But as I said, you can wear your own pieces anytime you want. Diamond bracelets are common at Wimbledon.

Upppsss no, no
ReplyDelete😂👍
DeleteOne of the worst outfits in recent memory. The pistachio color, white lapels & buttons, and long cut jacket worn all buttoned up with an ankle length skirt ages her well beyond her years. Either shortening the skirt or wearing the jacket open with pushed up sleeves over a white top could have made this more modern.
ReplyDeleteThoroughly disagree.
DeleteOpened jacket with pushed up sleeves over white top, how messy. The Princess looks just fine.
DeleteThe color combination looks nice. Am I wrong or did Diana have a combo like this? maybe I am wrong? I think it looks nice on Kate. css
ReplyDeleteLove the fresh pale green color on Catherine with her green eyes. However, the hair flipping and rigid attachment to her University look is getting pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI believe (might be wrong, though) that in the Royal Box at Wimbledon there is a dress code saying no trousers allowed for women. Personally, I think that trousers, if allowed, would have been the better choice here. The look as such is polished, of course. And the shoes do go well with it in that particular (rare) case.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks lovely , but it’s just I don’t know? Too formal? The shoes? I love the colour on her. I must say the jacket would look stunning with trousers. Is she permitted to wear trousers to Wimbledon in her capacity?
ReplyDeleteIt seems the color is an ode to Wimbledon based on the umbrellas courtside. A nice summery look, and the white shoes are just fine with this outfit.
ReplyDeleteGreen has been a traditional Wimbledon colour for clothing and other things for a very long time.
Delete- Anon 9:13
I like the casual outfit of the lady in the striped jacket next to Catherine.
ReplyDeleteI agree the color combination is nice and appropriate for Wimbledon, but I find the overlook too 80s for my liking, nevertheless she is beautiful and looks beautiful
ReplyDeleteLuna
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with the commenters who stated this was a blazer from the 1980s. As a 71-year old woman who wore blazers from 1970 until my retirement in 2018, this beautiful blazer does not resemble the 80s at all. The color is wonderful and I love that it is fitted through her waist to show her curves. I agree that probably wearing white trousers would be more appropriate for the occasion, but she certainly wears her clothes beautifully.
ReplyDeleteLovely color jacket and trim, skirt is a nice choice, lovely pleated skirt rather than a plain pair of trousers, and the accessories top off the outfit. A win for me. Gemma
ReplyDeleteI like her ensemble too. Very polished and sleek.
DeleteVery 80’s especially with those white shoes and pearl earrings. I think she needed a pair of cropped pants or something to add some modernity to this look.
ReplyDelete~Peonies
I saw some pictures of Wimbledon taken behind the scene. Princess Catherine arriving with her personal assistant (that is the woman with the white blazer and a floral summer dress who is walking just behind her pictures N° 1&2). She is carrying a big blue bag on her right shoulder, a cream colored bag on her right hand (perhaps her own) and one can see that Catherine is also handing over her white Mulberry handbag to her assistant. Does she really need so many thing during 1 or 2 tennis matches. Why bringing a little handbag if you even can't keep it with you ? In the past she always had a handbag with her including at Wimbledon, why can't she do it anymore ? Strange also the way she is keeping her fingers when she arrives somewhere. She didn't do that in the past either. Rose
ReplyDeleteTo those thinking of Diana - yes, she did wear similar outfits/colours: https://www.cheatsheet.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Princess-Diana-5.jpg and also https://i.pinimg.com/564x/6b/30/61/6b3061ab91c2c07867777f4b356016f4.jpg
ReplyDeleteTo me, the white pleated skirt has a “Wimbledon” vintage look about it.
ReplyDeleteThe blazer is a part of sporting events.
Maybe these points have given The Princess of Wales inspiration in her choice of the ensemble.
The white shoes, well they fit into the theme although I’m not a fan of white fashion shoes.
Based on those points, I give it a ‘yes’ vote.
