What a gorgeous dress and the Queen wears it well.

They all look very well put together. This romantic dress flatters the Queen - classy and elegant look for her.

Agree! I just wish the dress was a little shorter, like on the model. I think it'd look better. But what a wonderful dress for this visit!

On the model the dress is a tiny bit too short and on the Queen it's a tiny bit too long - just inbetween those two length would be great, we are talking about may be 4 cm. Otherwise the Queen looks fantastic!

Letizia looks fantastic. The soft curl in her hair is flattering and her dress is pure Hepburn-esque summer luxury.

Just so pretty... but I wonder how she got her tan? So brown.

In Spain they had already high t° before the Spring began this year. Some say she does not go into the sun to take sun baths but that it is fake brown. I don't know but I think she has a skin of good quality and that it is looked after with the best treatment. She has a tan the whole year but deeper during Spring and Summer.

Have you ever heard about professional airbrush spray tanning?
It is also used by models.

:23 has been concerned with the Queen's tan no matter the season, quite sure that she applies it herself and poorly. DeKay

Well, if this isn't just a work of art! The neckline isn't quite right. I'm guessing they modified it for her, and in the process stole some beauty from the composition. But it's still very lovely. I only wish the floral came a bit higher (as it does on the model).

The dress doesn’t go with the event in my opinion. Great dress for dancing, black tie, more formal occasion. Queen Letizia always strike me like she is holding her breath and stressed. She never appears relaxed in formal events. MR

She probably is always holding her breath, figuratively speaking. The Spanish royal family walks an absolute tightrope, politically speaking, and the Queen knows that whatever she does and says and wears is going to be scrutinized at levels I can’t even imagine. To a certain extent this is true of any royal family in these uncertain times, but from what I read, it’s particularly heightened in Spain. I could not do the Queen’s job (nor any royal’s for that matter).

After the too relaxed appearance on the day of the announcement of the engagement she is holding her breath. Especially on the day of the wedding. Siv.

Great look, with this longitude of the skirt, however I'd prefer she keeps it for the more formal occassion.

  24. Anonymous26/7/23 14:54

The dress is announced by C Herrera as a cocktail-dress. She can wear it on more formal occasions too. I think that's why she preferred to keep the length. Anyway she is wearing it better than the model.

  25. The dress itself is gorgeous. It reminds me of b/w Japanese Art Watercolours. And the look is very late 1950's (think of what Grace Kelly wore when she was in her early years of being Princesse of Monaco). However, I am not entirely sure about it being the right dress for this specific occasion. As it is labelled a cocktail dress - I do miss the cocktails here. Perhaps they'd been served later that day. But QL can pull it off anyway, for sure.

It was a 7 pm event, literally an opening of an exhibit. There were several politicians there, including the lady in the light pants and green top and the acting president. No doubt there were cocktails served. The queen knows what she is doing. On another note, the banker striped suit and mismatched tie are certainly not cocktail wear. DeKay.

If QL was aiming for a 60's look with this silhouette and hair, she succeeded. The underskirts add an extra swish to the look. The draping of the bodice and the black trim allows the eye to travel the length of the dress. The seated picture shows the volume of the skirt.

CH designs not dignified???. Some cannot tell the difference between diamonds and mere stones.

It’s too revealing for the event, no matter who the designer is. CH or D&G or anyone else. If you didn’t get the point, that’s too bad. Diamonds and stones is inappropriate comparison.

You do not seem to know what the word 'revealing' means when applied to pieces of clothing.
If you saw my trendy black corset tops ,which can also be used under jackets, (this is just an example), you would faint, believe me!
This dress Is exquisite on all accounts, perfectly appropriate for the occasion and veryyy dignified for a Queen.
Oh, by the way: as I have already said on other occasions and generally speaking, some women can wear real edgy smart clothes and some others just can't for a number of reasons.
That's all one nerds to know.

    @CH Perhaps gold and dross?
It is also inappropriate to apply your prudish standards to someone else, especially when the museums are full of paintings from centuries past to women with much more revealing decotellatage. She's the Queen not an aging frump
She wore a cocktail dress to a gallery opening and cocktail evening!

Have a look at Mary before you call it Middle Ages. Would you see her wearing this to an official event? Nothing else left for all the so-called ‘modern’ royalty argument that some believe justifies pretty much anything. Would you call Mary medieval? I wouldn’t. And one couldn’t catch her wearing this unless she was on a beach back home in Australia.

      Dear Ava, my pleasure!
You know, as someone questioned Q.Letizia' s cocktail dress and labelled It as " revealing", that is to say not appropriate for a Queen, also bringing in the lack of such decolletage in Princess Mary's ensembles by contrast, I just wanted to show that also Mary showed excellent classy decollateges to formal events.
Both royal ladies have exquisite tastes and tons of fashion sense,.
