Princess Anne attended the 92nd edition of the Textile Institute World Conference (TIWC) that took place at the University of Huddersfield, in her capacity as president of the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT). The Princess also met final year students from the university’s Textiles, Fashion and Costume Design department.
The conference was held under the theme 'Sustainability of the Textile and Fashion Supply Chain – Transitioning to Zero Carbon and Zero Waste.'
J'ai plaisir à voir la princesse Anne porter cette couleur vert tendre qui donne du peps à son look plutôt classique !
ReplyDeleteAre those navy blue gloves woollen gloves?
ReplyDeleteUnless I’ve missed something, I think it's summer in England.
The high temps in Huddersfield were only in the low to mid-60sF (16-17 C) so those gloves might have felt good that day :).

Her gloves are most likely made of either cotton or a cotton jersey material. She probably wears the same gloves as her late mother as HM had glove maker and specific material was imported to keep her gloves comfortable and lightweight. (JP)
DeleteHer insistence on wearing gloves gives the impression of being "better than". Not wearing gloves of a summer weight is probably because it would mean buying something new when she already has these. We know she likes to wear what she has.
DeleteMost likely from the Royal Glovemaker Cornelia James. Seems to be the model "Regina", a day glove made of sueded cotton.
DeleteI don't know where Princess Anne find these old fashion outfits! I understand she doesn't care about fashion but still... and her hair style needs to be changed because it ages her.
ReplyDeleteMJT
Well, she might not even care one yota about the criticism. She is doing her own thing, and I admire her for that attitude. She lives a very non-lavish, modest lifestyle, preferably on her country estate, surrounded by nature and horses, and when she steps out on royal duty, she does so very reliably and steadfastly. No fuss, just like her late papa. She re-wears clothes countless times, if necessary and possible over the course of many centuries. It works (well, mostly) because her wardrobe is made up of classic, timeless pieces. Yes, they might look outdated, quite often so, to be honest, but it really doesn't matter because the clothes fit, are well maintained and in most cases impeccably tailored. As for her hair - I am pretty certain that she will never change it. It is what works for her, what she is able to manage on her own, without a hairdresser, so be it. She's a great woman, not in the least perturbed by what fashion - and opinions, for that matter - dictates.
DeleteShe finds them in her closet, she first wore this outfit in 1993.
DeleteThe colour is fun and now in fashion again!
HRH finds her "old fashion outfits" in her closet. She does not care about fashion trends--she wears classic fashions. As for her hair--she is in her 70s. She prefers quick and easy--she does her own hair. I think the only times she uses a hair dresser is when she needs to wear a tiara but maybe not even then. (JP)
DeleteAgain, the „age“. The PR dresses always in a classical way and loves to rewear her dresses, nothing wrong with that attitude and waste of resources. e.
DeleteIt is decades old, like so many of her clothes.
DeleteMJT, this is Princess Anne's style. Old fashioned? She is in her 70's, and wears her hair the same way she has for most of her life. Look at photos from 'years ago'. She also makes the choice to re-wear many outfits which is cost effective, and since she maintains a healthy life style, she can still easily wear outfits from 'years ago'. Its called aging with grace and dignity, not plumped full of botox and fillers, or wearing the current trends and tossing them aside. She is the hardest working Royal, and does it with class, flair, and continuity. She is lovely and I personally am proud of the manner in which she represents the British Monarchy. Edwina PS: The outfit seen in the photo is not 'old fashioned', it is perfect for the occasion she is engaged with today.
DeleteShe put them on before shaking hands. Can’t say I blame her.
ReplyDeletePrincess Anne is the epitome of recycle outfits. And why not, the clothes fit her well. I do agree on her hair needing an update, but it seems to work for her lifestyle, no fuss. Love that she always wears lipstick to brighten her face.
ReplyDeleteThe Princess Royal has been about sustainable fashion forever (before it became a thing as it is now)--she is wearing clothing out of her closet that is older than many people who enjoy this site. She has items reworked to update them--changes sleeves, narrows, skirts, etc. Her clothes are bespoke, made of the finest materials that are designed to last and wear well. She also prefers classic styles so most of her clothes do not really go out of fashion. I love this green suit paired with the navy accessories (a very classic color combination) and the colorful blouse adds pops of complimentary colors. She does not do fashion, she does timeless style.

Well said, Janet. Perfect description of the Princess Royal and her clothes

Bravo janet! anna e.
DeleteThat bright green looks good on her. And the pop of more color in her stand up collar (a PA trademark I think). But the heavy winter gloves weigh the outfit down. I know she follows old school protocol, but they look too much here.
ReplyDeleteChel
I don’t think they are winter weight gloves, most likely cotton or a cotton mix. In the early days of COVID when we were being told that you could catch the virus by touching, I ordered summer gloves and wore them with dresses. They looked great. 😀 🧤

Nice color suit. Anne wears gloves at almost all occasions, just like her mother Q E II. Maybe kind of hot in the summer. Remember well my mother always wore hat and gloves... css
ReplyDeleteMy mum would never go into town without wearing a hat and gloves.
DeleteToday's generation, it's jeans, tee shirt with bra straps showing and of course, a smart phone.
I personally would absolutely love to get into Annes vast closet. Can you imagine the fun of going back decades and viewing fashion history. I love that she can, and does, still wear her classics. This look is classic Anne. And thank goodness she's continuing the royal brooch tradition. I love a good brooch!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the majority, her style is not a trend, but a sustainable way of living, kudos to her for keeping in shape. She is diligent and hard working, from time to time her classic or timeless pieces look very much up to day, other times well... they look very Anne. I find this particular outfit rather cheerful and perfect for the engagement.
ReplyDeleteThe gloves are like her signature, as her mother had her shoes and most likely, empty purses.
Luna
I like Anne's suit ;very stylish, matching shoes, bag, gloves spot on. The buttons on the jacket look very impressive, very regal(Tara)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit looks fabulous, love the green color. I love the fact, she recycles its splendid.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything said about Anne. But, just for fun, I would like to see her after a makeover... Hair, makeup, clothes... Just for a fun photoshoot. Maybe even Anne would like it.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Anon 12:18.
ReplyDeletePrincess Anne was /is one of the creators of sustainable fashion.
ReplyDeleteThe Grand Duchess of Luxembourg must have a team of full time helpers with her wardrobe,
Whereas Princess Anne probably has a lady who comes in for one day a week to dust down her ensembles for forthcoming engagements.
I'm sure she spends more money on her horses than what she spends on clothes.
You can call it like you want but classic clothes of 2023 are looking different than classic or "timeless style" of 20 years ago or more. I am in my seventies too and sometimes I am doing my hair myself but it is not the same like the hairdresser is doing it. I remember Princess Ann when she was a young lady and I looked in the newspapers at pictures of her I find her always good looking, beautiful clothes, beautiful long hair sometimes in an updo. In those days she was dressed according to the fashion of that period and also when there was a gala when she was dressed in a long evening gown. I also remember how she looked in her wedding dress when she married Mark Phillips, so beautiful. At a certain time her fashion choices must have changed, I can't remember when it started. Rose
