On July 16, 2023, The Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George and Princess Charlotte attended the Wimbledon Men's Singles Final at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. The Prince and Princess, George and Charlotte watched the Men's singles final played between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz on day fourteen of the Championships Wimbledon 2023.
The men's final marked a first for Princess Charlotte, who did not join her older brother and parents at last year's championship. The Princess of Wales is royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, a role she took over from the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2017.

So, here she is in a sheath-dress, as requested from so many of you. Too long? Too many creases? Too much going on on the left shoulder? Too unruly/long hair? Too muach/heavy makeup? What is it this time? I am much looking forward to the comments. Indeed, I am. Of course, none of the royal ladies featured on this blog are perfect. Also, the PoW isn't. I happened to not like some particulars here and there in what she'd been wearing myself. But I can always elaborate, I try to put out my criticism in a moderate and polite way. Just saying "it's boring" doesn't lead anywhere. It's, in fact, rather immature.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to read an informative, well balanced comment and analysis, read those presented by Tulipe33. She will always find something positive even if it is not 100% to her liking.
DeleteIf I’m “on the fence” I always wait to see what Tulipe33 has to say to help me with my decision.
And her detailed knowledge and comments on jewellery is a bonus.
Please note dear Tulupe33, I’ll send the bill via the French postal service. All credit cards are accepted.
In fact it is another £3,500 dress and a rub off to people who struggle to make ends meet in her “kingdom”

I would love to hear your opinion about this look instead of your opinion about other commenters.
DeleteI quite like the dress, it's a bit more modern than what she's been wearing lately. Lovely hair and make-up, as always recently.
PS: I can't imagine anyone ever said her hair was unruly. People might think it's too long but it's certainly never unruly. If she'd sell a hairproduct line, it would be a massive success.
DSC, i totally agree with you, I don't like everything, but I appreciate when someone elaborates on the likes and dislikes of the royals. And when we don't find the words to elaborate ,refreining from making a comment is a good option
DeleteLuna
DSC hi Rachel, nice of you to leave your oh so boring comments about Catherine. From my personal opinion, she looked lovely, hair neither too short or too long, too straight or to curly. Make up was fine as usual, eye glasses just right for an outdoor sport, dress nice summer quality dress, again, neither too long or short, nothing to fussy, in fact, just right, not too mature nor immature. The family, William is impeccable as usual, the children dressed well in age appropriate clothing and learning about the inner workings of a well loved sport. Edwina
Delete@Anon 20:49 Petra. According to the "Roland Mouret Official Online Store" this dress sells for 940 Euro or 750 GBP. Feel free to check for yourself. Rina
DeleteDear Edwina, it seems you must have mistaken my above comment completely. I am a regular commentor on this blog and - perhaps others will agree - I mostly comment in favour of Catherine, PoW. I fail to see how you could come to a different - and totally wrong - conclusion. For those who asked me on my opinion on the green Roland Mouret outfit: I like it. It is the welcome change from the pleated skirts she donned most recently, though she seems to like the green hues this time around in Wimbledon. The fabric tends to crease easily, which obvioulsy shows after some time in the car. Personally, I do like her hair better in that half-up style she sported yesterday at the Women's Final, but that's really no big deal. All is well, so far.
DeletePffff 😂😂 just speechless….
Delete@ DSC - mad that you already open for ‘fight’ against any other opinions than compliments. What is the point ?
DeleteAnna
So posts should only be positive and outlined in an elaborate manner…are we back in school? 😂
DeleteI too am ahuge fan of PoW but i find myself agreeing with this
Delete'Too long, Too many creases, Too much going on on the left shoulder, Too unruly/long hair, Too much/heavy makeup''
Not objective at all and so tunnel vision on this blog.
DeletePauline
Very childish DSC 🙄

Can you imagine how hilarious it would have been if little Louis had come along
ReplyDeleteKim
Maybe next year he will be there!
DeleteBeautiful dress in a beautiful colour. I love the detail on the bodice which elevates it from a simple shift. Yes it’s on the long side and it has crushed after sitting for five hours (quelle surprise!) but still a lovely dress. The children look terrific and their Dad’s not bad either. Lovely to see King Felipe there supporting Alcaraz ( as it was to see CP Frederik supporting Rune earlier in the week)
ReplyDeleteAnnieM
And Charlotte wearing her sunglasses is so cool!
ReplyDeleteproud of Carlitos
ReplyDeleteAt early stage she learns how to wear classic outfit like her mum. Always the same it does not come as a surprise anymore.
DeleteSorry DSC but I feel I just have to complain. I do not like any garment that wrinkles as badly as this does. Wrong fabric? Too tight? I don't know but it does not look good. The dress itself is of good design so it´s a pity it looks so crumpled.
ReplyDeleteLadyofthemanor
Fabrics wrinkle. Some worse than others, especially natural fabrics. If the creases are from sitting, it does not bother me in the least. It is far better than wearing a poly blend to keep the wrinkles at bay. I am more concerned by the fact that she has a very similar dress that she wore to Wimbledon a few years back. Sometimes I wonder if she is buying clothes because she can. I like this dress a lot, more than the other green Wimbledon dress in fact, but she has had a lot of fashion fails to my eye. At least this one has a more classic look.
DeleteWhat a comment! The clothes wrinkle, except for the models in the photos. Luckily, so do Kate's 'perfect' ones. Do you travel with an iron? Stefania
DeleteWhy can’t people let others express their opinion without fight back? Why can’t we have friendly discussion here like on the other blogs?
DeleteI was having a thorough second look and I think the dress is not too tight, neither the sleeves, nor anything else. The fabric just creases easily. Of course it does come from sitting and moving but knowing this does not make the look of it any better. Catherine's photos are distributed worldwide, so naturally, the fabric has to be considered too. Maybe some of you will remember the shift dress she wore 2011 when meeting the Obamas? Pure perfection, and I am sure she was sitting in a car before the meeting. This is just an accident, not a tragedy, of course, but let's call things what they are and this appearance was not one of her best :-)
Delete(GM)
Just found the dress on the internet. It is a wool and silk blend and I am amazed it has all those creases. Wool usually does not wrinkle this badly.
ReplyDeleteLadyofthemanor
According to the Roland Mouret Official Online Store this is the Short Sleeve Stretch Cady Midi Dress, the material is 97% Viscose and 3% Elastane. Viscose creases rather easily. Greetings Rina
DeleteMy mistake. There is a very similar dress in wool/silk blend. A pity she did not choose that one. Viscose wrinkles badly and only works in looser fitted clothes.
DeleteLadyofthemanor
Loving this look. Colour really suits her. Her hair looks great today, not so many bouncy curls, more sleek, like the dress. Is she sporting a bit of a tan? Looks relaxed and happy.
ReplyDeleteWere the kids waving at Kates parents in another stand?
~ Peonies
The Princess of Wales looks lovely in this Kelly green - it’s such a flattering color on her. And, I very much like the tailored look. If I were to tweak the look, I might remove the asymmetrical details and add a narrow self-fabric belt. But, it looks very good as is and the beige accessories look so much better to my eyes than matching green ones would have.
ReplyDeleteAnya
@ Anya. Now that she is wearing finally a lovely dress, you will make it "boring" by removing the asymmetrical detail on the left shoulder and add a silly belt. The only thing I would change is the length. It is too long on the model too. I like her shoes and handbag. @ Ladyofthemanor. There are wrinkles yes but I've always heard, if you see wrinkles it is because it is good quality. Polyester don't make wrinkles but is the most polluting material on the textile market. Rose
Delete@rose good quality fabrics do not wrinkle as badly as this. This is viscose, sometimes called natural fiber but is terribly environment unfriendly in its production. A fine wool or wool/silk blend as in a very similar dress by the same designer will not wrinkle as badly.
DeleteLadyofthemanor
@Ladyofthemanor I can see you really want her to be in a wool dress, but it is summer. Best forget about the wool for a few months.
DeleteI like it. Just chop it off at the knee.
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteI agree, I am getting tired of long skirts, just below the knee would have been fine. Having said that, I like the dress, the style and the colour.
DeleteMJT
Agree !!
DeleteThis length is very Victoria Beckham. It works. She does wear her dresses too long the majority of the time, but with this silhouette and height of shoe, I like it.
DeleteAgree
DeleteThe dress wrinkles too badly and when fully visible, i.e. she is standing or walking, this ruins the whole appearance for me. Probably bad choice of fabric for this type of dress (or bad choice of dress for this occasion). I adore Catherine in shift dresses, but not with this length. This one is too long for my liking. (GM)
ReplyDeleteNice colour on her. It matches the refs striped shirts a Wimbeldon colour. I like the top of the dress but it is too tight, tugging at the sleeve. This dress is just a bit too long and tight. This could cause the creases. A belt or some texture or something at the waist would help break up her long torso and give it a better overall look.
ReplyDeleteI'm fine with the dress. Neither here nor there for me. Perfectly serviceable, stylish and appropriate. My focus instead is on the family and how nice it is to see them together enjoying a day at Wimbledon. There are times when clothes matter less to me and this is one of them (and yes, I do know that this is a fashion blog.)
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
Charlottes dress would have looked nicer without the smocking; that's okay for babies. Kate's hair looks a bit messy hanging across her face. The lads look good (Tara)
ReplyDeleteI agree about Charlottes dress. On the other hand I find Prince George's suit too old for him. And he's wearing the same shoes like his dad ?. If he must be dressed that formal for Wimbledon they could have bought him a jacket like Prince William. Or the combination of light blue or off-white trousers and a navy blazer. At least he would have looked less stiff. Why must he wear a tie like this ? To me it looks not normal for a boy of his age. If they wish to modernize the Royal House, like they do in many kingdoms these days, they missed an opportunity to do so. After all Charlotte and George are still children who would have any objection if they both wore more up-to-date clothes (and I do not mean jeans pants and jeans jackets, there are plenty of beautiful clothes for children these days).
DeleteDisagree with each of you. Charlotte is a little girl, she’s 8 and the dress is perfect for her. In any case, smocking has been evident on many adult dresses this season so the baby comment doesn’t stand up
DeleteThe dress code for the Royal box includes jacket and tie for men. This includes minors. In any event, he looks smart and is probably wearing something similar to what he wears to school
AnnieM
@AnnieM. In my country even in the schools with the best reputation where the children of the royals are going to school there are no uniforms any more. Girls or boys can wear the clothes their parents bought for them. It does not mean they can wear anything they want. But they can wear bright colors and comfortable clothes what young children are usually wearing these days. Boys have plenty of time to wear a suit and girls can wear pants if they like. It is 2023 not 1923.
DeleteLovely dress, the princess of Wales looks fantastic as does princess Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteT
I happen to like this dress. Love the detail on the top. And the green color is absolutely gorgeous. I can see why some think it too long, but with her height I think it works. Lovely earrings. And how cute is Charlotte in those sunglasses:)
ReplyDeleteChel
This is a beautiful dress, the color is sublime, love this shade of green, suits the Princess well. The interesting feature within the neckline and shoulders, I love. She looks very elegant.
ReplyDeleteHave just been gossiping with my neighbour.
ReplyDeleteI explained to her about The Princess’s green dress and the creases.
She said, so what’s the problem?"
They’re Royal creases aren’t they?
I think she’s got a point 😉
Yes,@ Deadeggs, I do think your neighbour nailed it on the head.
DeleteI'm pretty sure that Princess Kate had already foreseen the creases on her dress when she chose to wear it so no surprise it relly happened especially when being seated on the way to or from Wimbledon in tha car or on the helicopter.
Oh, by the way: this shade of emerald green Is fabulous and indeed the Princess' looks great from head to toe.
William and the Kids look gorgeous as well.
Just and addition for the shoe game: I bet the heels are around 11-12 cm.
DeleteLove this shade of nude pumps👍
Beautiful look from Catherine--that emerald green is such a marvelous color on her. She looks gorgeous. Yes, the fabric is wrinkled from sitting--a rare ooops from her--but I don't find it to be such a distraction that I suddenly don't like her whole look. Her earrings are great--I looked them up and they are very affordable for being real gemstone earrings. The cut of this dress as well as the length are wonderful for her--both highlight her figure while still being ladylike and business-like (she is patron of Wimbledon and the All England club). Her straight hair is exactly what is needed with the dress--curls would have taken away from the neckline. As for the rest of the family--William looks summer smart in his blazer and tie, George is quite dapper in his navy suit, and Charlotte looks very pretty in her summer frock--which is totally age appropriate. I also LOVE Charlotte's sunglasses--very chic!

ReplyDeleteI like the color of Kate’s dress. I like the design of the dress but for some reason, I don’t think it suits her body. From the bust to the calves it’s just too long, too shapeless, too narrow. I love her hair, but not on her, not for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteShe is so pretty in this dress!! A tall column of kelly green!! Very flattering!
ReplyDeleteNo pictures of King Felipe of Spain who was there?
ReplyDeleteI found a terrific thread about why King Felipe is always looking extremely good - as for his suits and shirts etc. - what makes them first class. This is a whole thread, with many examples, there is a lot to learn about details in men's fashion in it: https://twitter.com/dieworkwear/status/1680871503771078656

I’m going to be in the minority here. But I love the PoW in the longer length. She’s tall and slim and perfectly pulls it off.
ReplyDeleteThe colour of the dress is very flattering.I loved the earrings and the biscuit coloured accessories. I would say,I’d be disappointed having spent so much on a dress that it would crease so easily. It’s just one of those things.
It was lovely to see the children enjoying their day.
@ Anon. 17/7 21:19
DeleteJust because she is so tall and slim the longer length is not a good idea. It makes her even longer. A shorter skirt cuts the length in two parts which make her look less like a green column. Rose
I like this dress as well. If she is going to wear a longer length, this is the kind of dress that can handle it. When she walks, it looks shorter. Victoria Beckham wears a similar length sheath and rocks it. The rest of the time her hems are too long.
DeleteBeautiful dress on a beautiful lady.
ReplyDeleteAs always elegant. josebabe.
ReplyDeleteI have notices King Charles and Prince Edward have more hair than before. Now I spot some growth on Prince Williams head. I wonder what hair products they are using?
ReplyDeleteWhy is a comment such as this, on this post? Neither of the King nor Edward are featured here, and when William allows his hair to grow longer, it appears a little fuller. End of 'wondering', it is called, natural growth between hair cuts. BTW, the King should cut his hair more often, especially on the back neck area. It always looks messy eddie
DeleteAs I already pointed out, I don't like speculations.
Delete@eddie You are correct about Charles needing to clean up his neck. I noticed it some time ago and it looks very sloppy.
DeleteI like this A LOT more than her recent looks - the colour, the simplicity, it's so much more youthful! Yes, I still dislike the gorgeous, but fussy hair for an outdoor event, but very satisfied with the rest.
ReplyDelete-Nika-
I love her hair like this. I would love to have such gorgeous hair.
