Queen Letizia’s dress is perfect—no surprise there. I like the colour of Crown Princess Leonor’s dress but the style is very ageing for a young girl, imo. Don’t like Princess Sofia’s shiny dress at all, I’m afraid

These are suitable 'grown-up' dresses for P.Leonara and Inf.Sophia and both wear them well. The fit is very good on both, and while the colours could have been a little more cheerful for summer, they're OK. Would I change anything? Only Inf.Sophia's hairstyle. It is bordering on the great-grandmotherly, especially for an event like this. (Even Elsa from 'Frozen' got rid of hers as soon as she could).
Their mother looks as impeccable as always.

You seem to forget that this blog is made up of people from all over the world, not just your country, and who speak dozens of different languages, for which there are many ways and spellings to say the same thing. Sometimes it's just a typo. As long as you know who we mean, there's no reason to choke on your pearls.
And before you go lecturing people about 'respect', how about you teach yourself some common manners, instead of sitting there pointing out peoples mistakes? One would think you don't make any. It would do you (and everyone) a lot of good.

its not a matter of respect, just spelt differently in different language in Europe. Leonara, Leonor, Lenore. Sophia, Sophie, Sofia.

This is not a lack of respect from Anon 9:13. How many royal ladies have the name of Sofia, Sophia, Sophie (2) - Eleonor, Eléonore, Leonor, Eleonore. It all means the same just the way you write it is different in one country or another. Rose

Oh dear...I can't really understand what happened here. Letizia looks fabulous but what happened to the girls??? Neither of them are wearing flattering dresses--which is very, very unusual. Leonor's reminds me a bad bridesmaid dress from the 1980s. Sofia's dress looks like something from Saturday Night Fever or the disco era. The best thing to improve both dresses is to remove the sleeves and get rid of the excessive fabric in the skirt for Leonor--streamline it more like Letizia's dress. How sweet of KFel to choose a tie in the same color of Leonor's dress--what a good daddy.

Noticed it too; very surprising. (Hopefully this won’t bring the wrath of scores of avenging angels down on us, lol.) And I think that Leonor’s dress is just on the edge of being inappropriately low-cut if this was a daytime event.

She looks lovely and healthy…honestly I don’t see any “extra” weight and if she did put on a few pounds so what? She and Sophia are still growing and their bodies are changing. Both are beautiful young women and commenting on weight is why so many young woman have eating disorders. Why not talk about their personalities, education, interests and other things other than weight?

@MaryT You acknowledge that your comment is not going to be appreciated (appropriate), yet you made it anyway. Why is that? It is bad enough these two girls are being hen pecked about their clothes, but you choose to focus on a body. Shame on you and your crony @Anon 11:50! It is NEVER acceptable, no matter who it is or how old they are. You have been here long enough to know it is bad form to body shame. Your second comment doesn't help you save face. It doesn't matter what the "reality" is, as you see it. Your "reality" is a weight gain, while the rest of us see a beautiful teenager with great poise, being eased into a role that not many would wish for, all on the world's stage.

  7. About dresses, I think Leonor's dress is ok for her, even if it reminds us of the 80s, but current fashion is retro, so why not. Sofia's dress doesn't have any real style, and I agree too shiny.

  8. Anonymous6/7/23 08:00

I guess their mother is not longer choosing their clothes.
Leonor’s dress is not flattering for her age: wrong colour.
Sofia is developing a style I quite like.

Leonor's dress is very pretty and feminine, I only have problems with that seemingly uneven hem - especially superfluous on a dress that has quite a lot going on. But overall, she looks very pretty. This applies less to Sofia's dress, less because of the shine that is OK for this occasion, more because ... well, it lacks form. As in most cases, I don't understand the "aging" argument, why separate generations strictly on the basis of what they wear? I think these girls themselves would not want to be infantilized by banning them into the corner of "youthful" clothing - among others because, evidently, they do not want to be there, see their choices. Anyways - what I love very much: Sofia's braid and Leonor's ponytail. Long hair just hanging down straight on both sides of a face ... well, a completely age appropriate hairstyle for young girls :-), but not always to their advantage.

Princess Leonore is almost 18 and I think is a beautiful young woman overall. She is still exploring to find her style. I can still remember what I wore at that age and will not do it now that I am more mature. She will evolve, find her own brilliant way. Most important now is that we feels beautiful in what she wears.

  15. Anonymous6/7/23 12:21

Contrary to many opinions here, I love it! I think the shape looks very flattering on Leonor, particularly the neckline. Maybe the colour is a bit off, but i don't mind it that much. Her hair, makeup and jewellery are wonderful. Love that Felipe coordinated his tie with his daughter while Letizia's picking up the sparkle in Sofia's dress. As for the latter, I'm a big fan of the glittery silver, I just wish it didn't have the gathering of fabric going on. Fashion-wise, Letizia takes a bit of the backseat next to her daughters, but I appreciate her bringing some interest in the form of her accessories. Well done!

I have noticed the same thing with Letizia. When the girls, primarily Leonor of course, has a role, she tends to dress more simply. This family knows what they are doing and I am here for it.

    2. Anonymous7/7/23 19:21

I agree Nika, Letizia belongs to a different level, she (usually) looks amazing and knows how to tune it down to let others shine.
So Sweet the gesture of the King's tie.
Again I don't love either dress of the girls, but I don't think is a total miss, this is the only way they will learn by making "mistakes" and compare to other royals closed to their ages, I don't even think they are doing so badly.

I don't mind the dresses. They are young and they chosed, probably what any young girl of that age would have chosen, something fashionable.
What I found remarkable is that all of a sudden Sofia is the smallest of the 2 sisters (last picture). But then I took a closer look and found out that Leonor is wearing high heels, even higher than Letizia's and Sofia is wearing flats. What a circus just because she is the CP she cannot look shorter than her sister. Sofia could have done something different with hair it is not good looking (if she is allowed to ?). Rose

Why are people always saying that because Leonor is Crown Princess she must appear taller? This has never been confirmed. I think Sofia prefers not to wear high heels , just like Ingrid Alexandra who wears trainers whenever she can get away with it. And Sofia wears flats. Her style is sportier and more laid back in general and while some girls wear very high heels, there's also lots of girls these days who prefer trainers or flats.

There is no such rule that the heir must be the tallest sibling or the spare must look a certain way. I think people forget that they are regular people with preferences just like the rest of us. Sofia is also younger and does not need to be in high heels this soon.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous7/7/23 11:24

I am not talking about the high heels à la Princess Catherine and others. But a little heel (it is fashion now look at Queen Letizia's) would looking so much better with her dress. She can wear flats or sneakers in her free time to change once and a while from the espadrilles. Do not misunderstand me I do like espadrilles bought a pair myself from a Spanish brand this summer. I didn't say there was a rule that the heir must look taller. It is just something I noticed each time the 2 sisters appear on a more of less official event. If they are pictured in their free time, they are wearing espadrilles of about the same height. Rose

Blue is definitely Leonor's colour, like Red is Letizia's. I think by recent trend I can say that Sofia prefers a more muted palate. But I love the fact that the king's tie matched his heir, while the Queen complemented the infanta. Fashion wise, very well coordinated!
