On June 10, 2023, The Duchess of Edinburgh attended the opening of the 116th Royal Windsor Flower Show of the Royal Windsor Rose and Horticultural Society at Windsor Great Park in Windsor. The 130 year old Royal Windsor Rose and Horticultural Society was founded by Queen Victoria in 1892. The Duchess of Edinburgh wore a v-neck silk midi dress by Etro.

An awful dress. - Ellie
ReplyDeleteVery pretty dress, nice flowing material, cute shoes too.

It's quite a mouthful the dress, but for this occasion, it is good (and much better than some of her more flowery fluffy dresses). And then, somehow, the Duchess gets prettier by the day. Fresh-faced, good hair, nice earrings.

Agree!
DeleteLove the colors but the dress, no.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is it, colors ok, design and length no.
DeleteJe ne peux pas dire que cette robe ne soit pas à mon goût si ce n'est au niveau de sa longueur , de nouvelles boucles d'oreilles que je verrais bien dans mon écrin à bijoux !
ReplyDeleteLovely dress and look from Sophie--perfect for the event. Cool, colorful summery dress.

Well chosen dress for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteOn another royal site, they talk about the dress coming in at a price of £2.115 pounds sterling - about €2.500 euros.
I kind'a like it, but would have preferred it either more flowy (bigger skirt) or a tad shorter while in the current style. Isn't it funny, though, that the royal ladies very often appear in wedged shoes now after the late queen's passing?
ReplyDeleteLe hanno sempre indossate, soprattutto Kate.
DeleteRossella
Kate did at first but then stopped because the late queen wasn't overly fond of them. Now they seem to make a reappearance.
DeleteThis beautifull Etro design on beautifull Sophie could be nicer when a little bit shorter.
ReplyDeleteBut stil very nice for a hot day,
Mabel
Suddenly lots of dresses have these short wide sleeves and I rarely think they look good. This dress has lovely colors but the shape and length are not flattering. Too long. Also the triangle that has been used to make the v-neck less deep makes the neckline look odd.

Yes, I agree with you…the wide sleeves do not flatter anyone, and the added triangle of fabric spoils the neckline. Etro makes high quality clothes but this was a poor choice for D. Sophie. (V.M.)
DeleteReally not a nice dress. css
ReplyDeleteI like the dress, but it is better to wear it on a hot summer night party than during the day (ref. length). The cut of this dress however suits Duchess Sophie very well. At least she does not wear shoulder paddings like Q. Camilla does all the time. The fabric must be very comfortable to wear in the summer because it is flowing around her body when she moves. A pity one had to add a piece of fabric to make the neckline less deep. I do not see another solution to coop with this difficulty.
ReplyDeleteThis dress should look better than what it does. The design of the dress, I feel is the let down. The fabric is beautiful. Just the style of the dress is a no.
ReplyDeleteAlways comments about the British ladies and the length of their skirts/dresses.
ReplyDeleteI think we have to accept that it is a British fashion.
About twenty years ago, an English friend came to stay with me.
She had two dresses in her travelling wardrobe and both had ankle length skirts.
Perhaps it’s a quirk in the fashion of their country. Why ??
The dress has a lovely color combination. The shoes not so much, a low flat summer shoe would have been nicer.
