On June 21, 2023, Danish Queen Margrethe attended the opening of the exhibition "Kalaalit Nunaat Rocks – Rocks of Greenland" at Design Museum Danmark in Copenhagen. The exhibition, which opened on Greenland’s national day celebrated on June 21, has previously been displayed at the National Museum in Nuuk and was created in collaboration with anthropologist Nathalia Brichet.
Among the jewellery and objects on display is the Naasut tiara, which was received by Queen Margrethe as a gift from the Greenlandic people on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Queen's regency. The tiara is made of Greenlandic gold and diamonds, and was created by Nicolai Appel, and shows 17 Greenlandic flowers – naasut means flowers in Greenlandic.
The exhibition showcases, among other things, jewellery creations with Greenland gold and gemstones by goldsmith Nicolai Appel, porcelain glazed with Greenlandic ruby dust by ceramicist Kristine Kreutzmann, and weavings of detonator wires and mining tools created by textile designer Astrid Skibsted Holm.
Overall a fantastic looking QM, although it could have done without the gloves (and if gloves are a must, another type of fabric would have made a softer look)
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks so lovely. Love the outfit, the hat and the colour.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely, lovely!
ReplyDeleteShe will enjoy this visit so much, being a designer herself!

Très beau look dans ce rose pale avec une touche de blanc. Je vois des rubis sur ses boucles d'oreilles et sa broche ; qui pourrait en dire plus ?
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks lovely in pink.
ReplyDeleteTrendy bag.Comfy shoes.
I think the bag is an oldie that she kept in the back of her closet. The shoes are comfy but I would not recommend a pair of moccasins/loafers to her. With the type of health problems she has, it is better to wear a pair of comfort shoes where she can put an orthopedic sole in.
DeleteWhat a lovely colour!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty in pink. I really like the clean lines of the dress and short coat.
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy to see Q. Margarethe looking increasingly better the more we see her resume her public engagements.

Queen Margrethe looks great in this lovely summery outfit. The pale pink really suits her

This ensemble is so pretty. She always looks good in all shades of pink. The tiara is a stunning piece of artwork but it never looked really good on the queen. Yellow gold just does not suit her very well.

I think I never saw her with this tiara. Maybe CP Mary would look stunning with this beautiful piece of jewelry if she wears it with an evening gown which has the right color.
DeletePretty in pink! HM looks wonderful in this pastel pink dress suit. The tailoring is beautiful with the white piping following through on her matching hat. Her gloves add that extra royal touch that is, sadly, disappearing from the scene more and more. I am sure this was a personally interesting event for her given her own design career and her love of Greenland.

@ Janet. When Queen Maxima and Queen Mathilde are wearing gloves they got plenty of critics on this blog. It is not only an extra royal touch. When I was young we had to wear gloves when we dressed up. Now I am only wearing gloves during fall and winter.
DeleteMy dear old mum would never be seen shopping in the main street of the town without her hat and gloves.
DeleteNOTE : those were the days before the giant supermarkets.
Now it's tight fitting jeans, tee shirt with bra straps showing and a smartphone 😣
Good to see the Queen in good form and all smiles 👍

Q. M. looks great! I love the modern jewelry that she’s chosen for the suit. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks lovely, her ensemble looks very elegant, love the color. Her rubies are a splendid addition, offset by the pink of her outfit, nice.
ReplyDeleteAgree. And nice to see what appears to be a rapid return to good health.
