Awful. Just awful. Too much fabric and too much of the shade of blue. Really awful. - Ellie

I agree, just awful, I miss Queen Elizabeth who was always so elegant and properly dressed.

Totally agree, just awful. The era of good taste with Queen Elizabeth is definitely over.

Same thought for me! New era, modern yes but can’t compare to Queen Elizabeth, she was class and elegant. 😢

Excellent surprise for all those who think she should buy something new :-) Wide legs are simply fashionable now but the fashion aspect aside, somebody with her silhouette could not very well wear tight legged pants because that would accentuate contours that she probably does not want to be accentuated. What I don't like is the collar, I would have preferred a somewhat less closed neckline and colourful jewelry around the neck.

    1. I don't mind the pants part, its that the top looks just like all her dresses. Same front seams over the bust, stand up collar and zip front. It's her comfort zone, I get that, but it's getting boring.

While I applaud her for trying something different, this is not her best look. The colour is good, but the cut is awkward - overwide trousers merged with one of her zip front dresses. The suede boots don’t help either. (V.M.)

    1. That's it exactly. She's criticised for sticking to the same outfit all the time and this is certainly different but it just doesn't work. Is it the ultra wide trousers? I'm not sure but I'm afraid it reminds me of workmen's overalls.

Merciful heavens, why??? There are some side-view photos of this ghastly garment that show even more clearly how unflatteringly it is cut. What on earth. — Jane

  7. It's something different for a start. Have we ever seen her in a jumpsuit before? Not that I know of. I like that she dared to wear something else instead of her usual trusted dresses. We see a lot of blue on her lately, though. A teeny-tiny bit of another/additional colour would have made that outfit a total gamechanger, perhaps. Just a splash of ... I dunno ... silver or grey??? Can't wait for Trooping the Colour on Saturday.

    1. Yes and on another site somebody made mention about the boots.
I was in doubt as it was difficult to see from the photo.
But, @ (V.M.) on this site has just mentioned a sighting of the boots.
How did I know that they’d be making a return?
I’m trying hard not to be unkind but does Camilla have a fetish for zips?
Or is it for practical reasons?
Maybe it's to do a quick change before going onto the next ribbon cutting.

@deadeggs, as for zips, this is how I explain it: osteoporosis can be, depending on stage and localization, extremely painful. Like a frozen shoulder, so bad to dress and undress for a while. But osteoporosis is not only for a while and she has it. I imagine she does not want to be dependent when putting on clothes.

    3. Thank you @ (GM) for the information which I have read carefully.
But she does have six ‘Queen’s Companions” and I imagine other staff at her beck and call to help her.
And maybe the designers could find another solution that would replace the zips.

The biggest take from this for me when I saw videos of it yesterday was (after the initial shock), "kudos to Camilla for wearing/trying something different than her 'same old, same old' style". But other than that...this looks terrible on her. At least she stuck to her basic blue.

QE2 wore the same type of coat with dress in 50 different colours with a suiting hat. Appropriate, yes, but also boring. Just more acceptable because she was older than Camilla is apparently. When Camilla wears her "uniform", everyone accuses her of being boring. At least she tries, sometimes she looks great and other times, I agree on this one, maybe it's not the most flattering cut. But she tries sometimes, and I have uttermost respect for her for doing and daring this at her age of 75.

Oh dear, too much fabric, too much blue, and being able to meet friends, while not doing official engagements, definitely not in the same league as the dear Queen Elizabeth, may she rest in peace.

Why Camilla cannot consult a stylist before ask her dressmaker to create a jumpsuit ? I think she had a lot of blue fabric left and thought why not make something up to date out of it ? Then she looked in her dressing room and found that blue dress made of the same fabric. Well the result is the top of that blue dress attached to the palazzo pants her dressmaker just finished. Did you ever seen a jumpsuit with such big shoulder pads. The sleeves have not the right cut either and the neckline/collar is not typical for a jumpsuit. Her feet must have felt very hot in those black winterboots. Look how the 4 people (last picture) on the right of the back row on the picture are looking at her when she walks away. They all 4 have a little smile on their face, I wonder what they were thinking ?

Given that Camilla is usually dressed in essentially a working uniform of a dress, hat, and heels I like that she decided to wear pants. I like her outfit and the color is fast becoming her signature color. I am not a fan of her choice of footwear but I have recently learned she suffers a great deal of foot pain from bunions. Perhaps her feet were giving her a lot of pain and the suede boots were much more comfortable? Whatever--she looks happy and relaxed to be amongst some friends at an event concerning one of her most beloved activities--reading.

My first thoughts were no, no, no. But them i read the comments and i agree, QE had a uniform and we all loved it: predicable, appropriate for her age, classy but indeed a bit boring.
I applaud QC for daring to try something new. Color is perfect, and she looks comfortable, nope i don't need to see it agai for hern, but still good for her.

What was Camilla thinking she looks like a sac of potatoes; She lacks style; nothing to do with appropriate for age if you have a lousy figure why would you even try this; does she look in the mirror. I like the bracelet (Tabby)

  23. I don't like this look at all. I realize wide pants are in but there is so much fabric. The cut or design, I cannot decide which is a fail here. The color is pretty. There seems to be so much blue worn of late, a different color would be nice at some stage.

  24. Look close. Is this ensemble really that different? Besides the oh so wide legged pants, the top half is like all her dresses, same small stand up collar, same seams over the bust, same zip front.
I might appreciate the pants part if the top didn't bore me, lol.

I don't get all the emotions concerning wide legged pants, why not just wait a bit until we all get accustomed to new contours around the legs? Anyway, chapeau to Camilla who probably knew what the reactions are going to be like and dared to do something new. Which is much more difficult in her age than at half her age. It was not baring her knees or anything else, it was just a jumpsuit with wide legs ... :-))

@ GM . Accustomed to ne(w contours around the legs ? How many time do you need to get used to trousers with wide legs ? It is at least 3 years trousers have wide legs. If you wait long enough they will be tight again. Age has nothing to do with fashion and style. Why some of the bloggers are trying to find excuses for the fact that Q. Camilla has no style at all. If it is not the osteoporosis (the zipper in her dresses) then it are the bunions on her feet (the boots during a hot week in June)I. And I know exactly how painful it can be because I have osteoporosis too and I have also bunions and believe it or not I have the same age as Camilla. For all these problems there are solutions now. I receive my injections and pills for the osteoporosis and it helps a lot. I buy comfort shoes which are as beautiful and fashionable as any other shoe (not cheap at all), but you can wear them for a long time. You are not going to tell me that she is not aware of the remedies that are available these days.
