On Wednesday evening 14 June, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands hosted the Diplomatic Corps for a gala dinner at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. In addition to nearly 140 foreign representatives in the Netherlands and Brussels, about 70 representatives from the science world was also invited.
This year's theme of the dinner was science. Previous dinners had themes such as public administration, art and culture, international law and international business. The dinner takes place annually to maintain and strengthen international relations and to bring together Dutch persons and foreign representatives to speak about various themes.
For me this is a "double wow" Maxima does gala fantastic, dress, jewelry and hair all spot on.

ReplyDeleteI agree. She should have removed the dangly parts from the earrings.
DeleteAny idea about the jewels? I have the impression they are new.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely, aren’t they? They’re part of the Dutch Sapphire Parure. The first pieces of the parure were commissioned in 1881 by HM King Willem III of the Netherlands. Some pieces have been reconfigured and others added but they’re all antiques. The trellis necklace Q. Maxima is wearing was made in 1900. Anya
DeleteThe jewels are not new. They are from the royal collection. Maxima wore the tiara 13 years ago and after that never again until yesterday.
DeleteStunning. Max knows when - and how - to hit it out of the ball park and here she has done it again! The dress colours are gorgeous, and the jewellery is out of this world. Best of all, it does not look over-powering, considering she has worn the full parure; the tiara is nice and low, so allowing the other pieces their rightful share of attention.

Absolutely adore her dress…and the sapphires! Can’t go wrong with sapphires!

The Queen looks sensational. Beautiful Navy gown, fits well, love the design of this one. Her jewels, she has taken to a whole level. The Sapphire and diamond bracelets on both wrists are gorgeous. The tiara is beautiful, but the necklace, simply splendid. The earrings are exceptionally gorgeous. Love the small dark blue clutch. Her makeup is on point and her hair up looks divine. She really looks the epitome of elegance and beauty.
ReplyDeleteShe wears gowns better than anyone else. Case in point…

I don’t agree
DeleteEveryone looks like they looked like they had a good time, and they looked good having it!
ReplyDeleteThe sapphires, the tiara, the dress…fabulous!!! This couple always brings a smile to my face. Seems like they would be tons of fun at a party!
ReplyDeleteI like Queen Maxima in this gala dress of 2016. It is designed for her by Claes Iversen. He made other lovely coats and dresses for her. Her jewelry is stunning.
ReplyDeleteÉpoustouflante, la plus royale des royales
