On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the European Parliament and before Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union that will begin in the first half of 2024, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde held a reception for a delegation from the European Parliament at the Castle of Laeken on June 28. About 100 guests attended the reception.
ZIMMERMANN Pleated Tiered Twill Midi Dress

DeleteLove the skirt but I am not too sure about the sleeves when you see only the top part. Not sure what would look better. Green is not my color but Queen Mathilde can wear it.

What an interesting dress…it fits Q. Mathilde beautifully. The colour is very good on her and I love the earrings she’s chosen. I think she looks great here. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteWell ... a lovely shade of green and excellent earrings. I would "delete" two features on this dress: first, the puffy sleeves. Second, the very first tier under the waist, the one across the hips. Less is more.

I agree, I am not a fan of puffy sleeves and the first tier across the hips does not help the silhouette. I love picture no. 6

The sleeves don't really bother me but I agree on the first tier of pleating. That's not doing her any favours.
DeleteI’m with DSC. The top of the dress is fine for me but the tiered skirt is disappointing. Lovely shade of green for Queen Mathilde

Great shade of green for Mathilde!
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteThis shade of green suits QM beautifully. With respect to the dress I don't particularly like the sleeves, but overall it fits her well. The queen looks very tired on some of these photos
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the reception was held in the atrium of the Castle of Laeken.
ReplyDeleteIf this is so, then I think Queen Mathilde has well chosen her dress, puffed sleeves and all.
Question, will the hand holding police be making a comment?
No comment other than to say it’s lovely what a supportive and affectionate relationship they have. I think their hand holding is sweet!
DeleteQMathilde's dress is very lovely. I like the bodice of this dress, it fits beautifully. The sleeves are bit too wide and the dress a bit too long for my taste but otherwise very nice. I like her earrings too. This is an occasion to see pictures of the Winter garden in the Green houses of the Castle of Laeken.
ReplyDeleteI love the colour and I love the dress, the latter particularly because it works beautifully and in perfect sync with Q.Mathilde's body morphology: her high waist is comfortably accommodated, the deep V of the bodice accentuates her upper half, and her lovely height is accented by the flow and length of the garment. The tiers draw away unwanted attention to 'body banding' (broader hips), and the the fluted puff sleeves echo the fluted tiers and border of the dress design.
ReplyDeleteAll in all, this is a complete success to me.

What a lovely dress on Queen Mathilde. That green is gorgeous. I'm not usually one for puffed sleeves, but here they work. And beautiful earrings.

I find this look luxuriously gorgeous. It is a modern dress that evokes past ages. Mathilde is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great overall for the Queen of the Belgians, and the setting is beautiful. I love summer events in gardens like this.
ReplyDeleteGreat style and color for Mathilde! She really looks good here. Also appears she might be letting her hair get a bit longer which would be a nice change too.

Beautifull Mathilde in à dito dress.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the sleeves could be a bit more narrow, but the flow of the skirt compensates every little error.
the King wears a really good double breasted suit.

Interesting dress, lovely color, and it looks quite nice on Mathilde. I want to thank her for NOT wearing any shade of the current "in" color PINK. This is one of the few times she's got it right for her body shape. Not liking Philippe's striped suit in general & the jacket seems a bit tight. Kudos that his tie is straight. |Melanie|
ReplyDeleteI normally dislike tiered dresses, but this is the exception. Its quite lovely, though the sleeves are problematic for me, I'm not sure if its the elastic at the cuff of the sleeves, cannot put my finger on it. The skirt is splendid, plenty of swish and movement. The length of the dress is good, the color is gorgeous, I like this very much. Her choice of shoe color, I feel was a good choice. Her earrings are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIts fabulous that the Queen is supporting one of our designers from Australia, .Zimmerman Well done.
Lovely shade of green. The dress fits her well, though I'm not usually a fan of ruffles, this dress looks wonderful on her, the puffy sleeves fall into the ruffles in the bottom part of the dress, making the entire line of the dress look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful dress and the green is looking very vibrant Mathilde made the right pick. css
