On 1 June, Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa married at Zahran Palace in Amman. A Royal Decree was issued, bestowing the title of HRH Princess Rajwa on Miss Rajwa, on the occasion of her marriage to Crown Prince Al Hussein. King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan hosted a wedding banquet and reception at the Al Husseiniya Palace for Crown Prince Al Hussein and Princess Rajwa.
King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Crown Princess Amalia, King Philippe and Crown Princess Elisabeth, Prince and Princess of Wales, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, Queen Jetsun Pema and Princess Eeuphelma, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Prince Alois and Princess Sophie attended the reception.
Oh gosh, what a unfortunate dress, want to be princess costume meets Mexican quinceañera.
ReplyDeleteSo disappointed, previous dresses have been impeccable, with elaborated details, traditional and classy in their culture.
I'm curious to read all your comments, maybe I'm the minority.
There is a picture of Amalia, probably 8-10 years old and she had this tiara on, in het bij, or the book about her, she says this one is het favorite, but i don't love it on her.
Maxima looks splendid, so does Victoria, and need better pictures of Kate.
Princess Sophie also looks lovely, she never delivers wow moments.
Luna
if the bride had removed the train and veil from her wedding dress, wear some heels, that would have been a whole lot better
Deletejill
I thought you were supposed to eat the cake, not wear it. RH
DeleteI do agree about the tiara of Amalia. She should have worn the diamond bandeau
DeleteThis model looks odd on her
"want to be princess costume meets Mexican quinceañera." Thanks for giving me a good chuckle for the day. :)
DeleteYour take on her dress is wrong-- and seen through the lens of a Western aesthitic. As someone who has lived in the Arabian Gulf region for over 20 years, I can tell that her dress refelcted a modern, monied, Arab/romantic look. In the historical moment, she was almost certainly not wanting to be seen as emulating Western culture and instead deliberately indicated her appreciation of and allegiance to her own culture, while also showing her rejection of traditional Islamic modesty while giving a nod to the more conservative public by modestly covering her arms with gloves, despite her short sleeves. Similarly, no decolletage, yet attention to her bosom through swirls in the fabric. A look through Arab fashion publications will show that her dress simply reflected her cultural perspective. Seen objectively, through that lens, she looked lovely in it.
DeleteI think the wedding dress was lovely and the bride looked lovely in it; I was a bit surprised that looked more Western than traditional - thanks, anonymous 13:05 for the cultural "background information", certainly very helpful to us who lack that cultural context.
DeleteOMG Katherine looks stunning.
ReplyDeleteKate looks so matronly!
DeleteThey all look lovely.
ReplyDeleteNot crazy about Princess Rajwa's evening bridal gown - it reminds me of a cake piped with whipped cream. I'd have loved it much, much more if those swirly things on the skirt and train were less prominent, and more subtle, because the design, cut and fit of the gown is really beautiful, and a tribute to her model figure.
I love the bride's mother's lilac colour..so soft, feminine and flattering. I also like Maxima's gown because of the heavy embroidery which has strong suggestions of Arabic or Asian handicraft. That's a nice touch for this occasion. CP Amalia also looks very good in her tiara. I like the colour of Victoria's gown and the simplicity of the design. The colour is appropriate for this evening banquet. I did not like the gown nor the same colour on Princess Elisabeth at the earlier ceremony. The colour was too bright and made her standout too much and the design (to me) was suitable for an older person. For a young beauty like her, there are so many gorgeous styles, patterns and gowns that would have showcased her youthfulness. Catherine was...well, Catherine: beautiful and perfect and no surprises (including her fav tiara); on the other hand, I'd like to see a full length view of Beatrice's gown which looks interesting.
I've seen pics of many others who are not yet pictured in this post, such as CP Mary in dove grey with sequins, Queen Jetsun Pema in pink, Princess Takamada of Japan (in lavender) and her daughter, all of whom were dressed for a dazzling night. However gotta say, Princess Muna, also in lavender, was to me one of the best dressed senior royal ladies in her evening gown and tiara. She looked stunning at 82yo, and a very proud and happy grandmother.
However..the absolute stars of this glittering occasion are the 25+ tiara's and parure of the Royal houses of Europe, the Arab world, and Asia. I don't think I've ever seen such a parade of so many stunning and sparkling head pieces and jewellery, all in one event at the same time. All the ladies must have had such fun to be gathered together with their treasures balanced on their head or dangling from their ears or around their neck. Simply stunning, and I enjoyed reading about all the pieces and the history behind each one. A once in a blue moon treat!
- Anon 9:13
Addendum: Now that more photos have been added of CP Mary, CP Elisabeth and Princess Beatrice, I love all their gowns. Mary looks stunning, Elisabeth's blue gown is absolutely perfect for the young beauty that she is, and Beatrice's dress is stylish and interesting.
DeleteMuch has been said about baring one shoulder, sheer bodices and low(ish) necklines for dresses at this wedding. The dress code rules in Jordan are less strict among the modern population than in other areas of the ME. Maxima, Mary, Amalia and Elisabeth's gowns would have been accepted as Western dress styles without offence.

"A once in a blue moon treat"
DeleteCouldn't agree more with @-Anon 9:13.
We're having cold meat and salad for supper tonight.
Haven't been able to get away from my computer screen all day.
"Haven't been able to get away from my computer screen all day."
DeleteI can believe that :) This was an incredible event with so much to see.
It must have been a nightmare to organise: the design of the event, the decor, the security for all the special guests, the seating arrangements...and then the exquisite banquet for 1,700 people (and another dinner for 4,000 Jordanians the night before). I wonder how the banquet party went, how the groups were organised at the tables..and what delicious things the guests were served on the menu. I like reading details like that (not just about the fashions) to get a better idea of the event. But it's hard to find those kind of details on the web.
- Anon 9:13
The two dresses are quite different. I like the "a once in a blue moon treat" concept ! Yes why not. Princess Rajwa (I hope I got it right, have to get used to her name) showed she had very good taste for the day dress, and has a sense of fantasy for the 2nd dress. For me she got a 10/10 mark.
DeleteLiterally everyone is looking fantastic! Jan Taminiau did a great job on Amalia's dress, she's looking fab. Maxima also, I like this dress a lot more than the blue dress. I hope some pictures of Elisabeth of Belgium will be added.
ReplyDeleteThis bride's dress is horrible. Amalia is beautiful, she wears magnificent jewellery with ease. Beatrice is beautiful, Kate anonymous, as usual. Irene
ReplyDeleteRawja's weddingdress was elegant, the dress for the henna party was simply exquisite... This dress.. No. To much going on. But thank you to the Royal Family of Jordan for opening the vaults of Europe. Everybody looks so wonderfull and sparkling. Love all the tiaras.
ReplyDeleteNot keen on the bride's second ensemble. Cinderella vibe. Amy
ReplyDeleteI prefer the first gown, not fan of the second.
DeleteDear fellow bloggers, we are going to have to add an additional score rating to our list and it can be called “Double Wow”.
ReplyDeleteI’ve seen photos on other sites and some of them are just jaw dropping.
For example Princess Catherine’s gown by ELIE SAAB.
Going to be glued to my computer today and my soap operas, dusting etc, can wait until tomorrow.
If there’s a double wow category, my award goes to the Princess of Orange who, after a number of less than flattering outfits, looks AMAZING! What a difference a well fitting dress and an updo make. Definitely the standout for me, even eclipsing the Princess of Wales
DeleteAnnieM
oh dear since she came to the spotlight she has not put a foot wrong until now. This is like a disney dress, cindrella, wearing the wedding cake. Her henna dress was so much better. beautiful tiara thou.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.instagram.com/p/Cs9gtH0v70V/
Another wedding dress! A Reception dress should Not have a long train. To imagine that her stylists and best friends let her walk out like this.
ReplyDeleteYou are not the one that must say what other brides in other countries have to wear and give your opinion on their stylists. I do not like everything I am seeing here either but the Jordanian Royal Family has probably other customs than we have. I respect their ways of celebrating a wedding. If one thing is for sure this wedding must have cost a lot of money, a henna party dress, a ceremonial wedding dress and an evening dress. Probably big receptions and diners for all the guests. An oriental fairy tale.
Delete@Anonymous 13:45 this gown Dolce n Gabbana (a western brand) from a ran away show. Perhaps if she had worked with a Jordanian designer then comments would be reserved.
DeleteThis is my second time seeing Amalia & Beatrice wearing a tiara.
ReplyDeleteI feel betrayed. After the stunning line up of the wedding today this evenings attire is sooo dissapointing. Only Rania looks superb. Only quibble her tiara is too silvery for the dress.
ReplyDeleteThe bride looks like a meringue.
The Princess of Wales, meh! The way her hair and tiara are worn looks like Alice in wonderland with her Alice band.
The mother of the bride looks like her gown is a cheap immitation of something run up at the carnival shop.
Oueen Maxima has cut up some lizard skins and sewn them into a dress and then plonked an extra necklace on for good measure.
Amalia found a seamstress to quickly stitch a crinkly piece of silk organza in a disastress stitching job at the neckline into her decollete. That gorgeous Dutch tiara makes her look like she copied a swan. It needs more of her beautiful hair piled up behind it.
Victoria put her ribbon on then remebered her bolero and threw it on over the ribbon. It is also not the most attractive Swedish tiara on her.
Sophie, Hereditary Princess of Liechtenstein looks like a pink icecream with bits of strawberry in it in shirtwaist style.
Princess Beatrice looks just about ok but it is hard to tell from this photograph of her. The frill around her sleeves look pretty superflous and too fussy but it is hard to tell.
Why the Princess of Wales did not wear that stunning quite exceptional day dress for the evening party as well mystifies me.
Well, well, can you please be a little less sharp with your criticism ? All ladies have done their best to look as good and festive as they can !!
DeleteWhy always being so negative ? It is not the first time I read negative comments of you on almost every Princess or Queen. Are you so perfect then ? You forget that the Royals always have to be dressed impeccable when they are present at big events and that the camera's not always picture them from a good angle. They are analyzed and discussed on blogs like this. They can also have days that they are not feeling well but still have to be present. They sometimes are dressed very beautiful and sometimes less beautiful or not to everybody's taste, they are only humans.
DeleteFinished your litany of fashion negatives?
DeleteYou may think that you're being funny, clever or amusing, but your continually childish and immature comments about fashion on this site (now and before) are tiresome and boring..and your comments about the bride's mother are downright insulting. Perhaps you should inform/educate yourself by doing some research into the traditional dress for women in Saudi Arabia to understand what she wore, before giving such a puerile assessment. Having an opinion on fashion is one thing; combining it with mockery as you often do is another.
Delete- Anon 9:13
@nalerina ("I feel betrayed"): Discussions should be about outfits instead of highly personal insinuations and insults directed at the wearers. Maybe you could think about why you need this hurtful aggressivity that nobody enjoys. (Gloria)
DeleteWell, nalerina, you seem to be one bitter woman if I ever came across one. I feel sorry for you and your litany of negativities.
DeleteWow! That was a rude tirade. If you are so offended by what you see, leave the party, Little Miss Sunshine.
DeleteOk, Nalerina.
DeleteIf you start by saying that the bride looks like a meringhe , then I feel your fashion sense leaves much to be desidered not to mention your whining over other royal ladies' outfits.
My only advice is: please, keep on the know, explore contemporary fashion, see how the world ouside spins.
Bringing down beautiful women once again won' t make you feel any better.
Good night.
Just hit the sack and don' t think about this event anymore👋.
Nalerina, to others’ replies I only want to add that I feel your comment about the mother of the bride’s attire was particularly grotesque. Imo in her dreamy, gossamer layers of lilac with subtle embellishments, she could not have looked more beautiful, dignified or superbly dressed. — Jane
DeleteWhy can’t we have different opinions on this blog and respect them without heated fire back?
DeleteI do not agree with all Nalerina said, but let it be! It’s one opinion among others, not worth reading otherwise!!
Suz
Great advice @P.the original..
DeleteOh, thank you , @ Deadeggs.
DeleteYou see, I think that when someone Is determined to bring down beautiful women pretending she is expressing fashion views, then she' d better leave the party, as a very wise fellow blogger said.
One can just say ...I like/ don't like that outfit and this is fine with me ... but without dissing the wearers.
I can't give an outline about each wow outfit I see now..
Pss Kate and Pss Elisabeth are my top preferences.
As to the bride's gown...
Sea waves foam comes to mind if viewed from the back, soectacular on the front, so classy and majestic.
A simply smashing bride, one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen👍👍👋
I was on the fence about the first dress, but I'd take it any day over THIS bridal look. I'm so sorry, because she seems like a lovely bride, but this is... just not good (save the tiara). The fabric looks like wet toilet paper on canvas, the shape is too poofy & very 80s, the opera gloves look tacky & don't go with the sleeves & neckline, the hair not elegant, but also not full-on messy... urgh, there was so much potential!
ReplyDeleteThe other Royals served some nice looks, though. I squealed at the sight of the York tiara & Beatrice wears it well. She also looks lovely in the dusty pink. Catherine's dress is wonderful for this occasion, too. Not a fan of the hair though. I generally dont like tiaras worn as headbands.
Great looks from the Netherlands. Maxima fits right into the region & I could stare at the embroidery for hours. The red dress might be a bit mature for Amalia, but that girl can wear tiaras! Glad she seems to have inherited her mum's love for sparkly things. It's a great overall look!
Still taking in Victoria's dress - I love the bold pink & green together. Jordan's sash is hard to work with colour-wise & I think she's done great.
-Nika-
Addition: A big cheer for Princess Elisabeth - I think this dress is perfect for her, not overdone, a bit playful, gorgeous colour - I like it a lot!
DeleteMary on the other hand surprises me a bit. The colour & cut are great for her... but it's quite clear most Royals wore rather conservative gowns for the occasion. I get short sleeves, transparent sleeves... but no sleeve(s)? Bit odd.
-Nika-
Nika, I disagree re the opera gloves; I think they are very elegant with the short sleeves. — Jane
DeleteI love Kate's hair. It is youthful and modern, far more so than when she wears fussy updos. Given the fact that this is a wedding for a young couple, her hair is perfect in my opinion. I wonder where all the comments are about inappropriate showing of décolletage? Maxima took a beating for the dress she wore to the wedding.
DeleteI love Kate's hair. It is youthful and modern, far more so than when she wears fussy updos. Given the fact that this is a wedding for a young couple, her hair is perfect in my opinion. DeleteA very beautiful dress of the hereditary princess of Liechtenstein. I also saw pictures of Beatrice of York, I really liked her too. Wish Victoria would show more variety in her hair. I personally don't like the bride's dress, but she looks happy.
ReplyDeleteYes, the dress struck me as very beautiful. It is unusual to see a shirtdress for a white tie occasion but I really love this. and her tiara is gorgeous!
DeleteLadyofthemanor
Victoria is gorgeous, for me she is the winner here - color and cut of that dress are just perfect for her. I am a bit disappointed about Maxima... Usually her gala outfits are just breath taking and extravagant. this time she looks nice but more discreet.
ReplyDeleteAgree! I love Victoria’s dress as well, the cut is lovely. Fits her well 🤗
DeleteThe bride´s gown is a vision.
ReplyDeleteMaxima´s dress looks exquisite from up close but a bit bland from afar.
Amalia is beautiful, though I don´t understand her shawl (why at all, and why that colour).
Victoria looks smashing. I wonder if that is some black backing behind her tiara?
Rania is beautiful in this gown which I like much better than the simple black one she wore for the ceremony.
Lots of dusty pink/beige from our British princesses on both occasions. They look good, and my favourite is Catherine´s first gown.
I guess there will be more photos added later (Mary? Elisabeth? any representative from Spain, Luxemburg, Monaco or Norway?)
King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia for Spain, though perhaps only Sofia officially, Prince Sébastien who is friends with Prince Hussein for Luxembourg, Crown Prince Haakon for Norway (pity Ingrid Alexandra didn't accompany him like Elisabeth did with her father). None from Monaco as far as I can tell, but I think the timing clashed with their own celebrations.
DeleteCrown Prince Haakon of Norway was there.
DeleteAlso, Prince Pavlos of Greece was also there.
DeleteSo too Jill Biden of the US, and David Cameron, former UK Prime Minister with his wife Samantha.
- Anon 9:13
CO Haakon was there, but since he was flying solo bc his wife had a visit on the other end of the country on Wednesday and another one today, he was not worth a photo. After all he is just a man. PS his daughter is still just a princess not a crown princess like Elisabeth and Amalia.
DeleteAlltså KP Victoria, wow!!!
ReplyDeleteBride
ReplyDeleteBride's dress looks like Gypsy's Roma wedding dress in UK.
Ava
It really doesn't- not nearly elaborate or revealing enough. Also those wild wedding dresses are more likely to be worn by Irish traveller than Roma bride's.
DeleteI don't mind this third bridal dress at all, exactly because we had those two glorious other dresses from the henna party (oh so beautiful) and from the wedding proper (very subtle and noble). I feel that this third one is the funny party one, an almost self-ironically "bridal dress" proper, playful. So I tend to smile and think: She knows exactly why she has chosen this one, because she has also chosen those two others. Outstanding: Mary, Queen Emerita Sofia with all those rubies, Victoria, Jetsun Pema (simply because she always is).
ReplyDelete(Gloria)
Gloria, I think you probably are exactly right that for the bride, this was the part of her day on which it was ok to be a little bit playful. She made the most of it, while still remaining modest and looking beautiful (and hey, let’s admit right now that like Catherine, this lady will look beautiful no matter what she wears). I LOVE the opera gloves, which complement the short sleeves perfectly. Disney princessy? Well why not, it’s party time. — Jane
DeleteGloria, you are so right! Thanks for pointing this out, this lady had proven to have an excellent taste, so there must be a story behind this dress, or not, just her liking.
DeleteFurther I'm still enjoying the "Double Wow” that deadeggs suggested.
Luna
I thine everyone except the bride looks gorgeous. She looks as if she is wearing the wedding cake.
ReplyDeleteCP Elisabeth of Belgium looks fab in the very elegant and youthful dress and a magnificent tiara.
CP Victoria's dress is very elegant with the buttons down the back and the color compliments the Jordanian riband. I have always loved P Lillian's tiara. Sophie of Lichtenstein is wearing a very elegant evening take on a shirt dress and I think it looks super. Her tiara is beautiful.
I am surprised CP Mary has one shoulder bare. All other ladies have fully or partially covered arms.
Ladyofthemanor
I see mostly fantastic dressed nobility!
ReplyDeleteKate! Beatrice! Sofia! Victoria! Elisabeth! Mary!
Their coiffures, make-up and jewelry: mouth watering!
Quibble: Maxima’s too heavy eye make-up as well as Amalia’s.
The bride choose for a once-in-a-lifetime exaggerated dress ( as she is allowed to),
Mabel
I agree. At what other occasion will she be permitted to wear such a show stopper?
DeleteThe bride’s reception gown is everything bridal, a little girl’s fantasy gown, and she looks fabulously young and feminine in it. Catherine of Wales’ reception gown at her own wedding was a bit too adolescent with furry bolero and diamanté waist ribbon, but this rose pattern embellishment is wedding appropriate, and the bride looks adorable.
DeleteCP Mary’s choices have puzzled me recently. Of all the gowns she has in her wardrobe, why bring out this re-make that bares a shoulder? Doesn’t she have a PA who advises her on customs for foreign visits?
I was baffled why she wore a strong purple to King Charles coronation, purple being a color that was previously reserved for clergy or royalty. This was KC’s day, and she could have worn any other color in the rainbow. Didn’t see purple on anyone else either. Likewise am not seeing anyone with bared shoulders at this wedding reception. Anytime I have visited a Muslim country, I was told never to bear shoulders when entering a mosque. Also her wedding ceremony dress was white background with floral print, which was okay. But I personally would’ve avoided anything white even if it was just the background.
Max’s ceremony dress was acceptable IMO. The photo of the large family gathered shows some necklines similar to Max.
Sophie of Liechtenstein looks fabulous, so happy to see her up her sartorial game with her great figure.
Queen Rania’s black dress is better than what she wore to her daughter’s recent wedding, where her dress seemed to compete for attention with the wedding gown. She listened to her critics, well done. She allowed the bride to shine on the wedding day. S.M.
It was a party in a palace with a group of well travelled and sophisticated people - she didn't go anywhere near a mosque.
DeleteCrown princess Elisabeth was added later she has saved my day with her gorgeous royal blue gown.
ReplyDeleteIt's by her favorite (apparently) designer Armani. She always looks amazing in Armani.
DeleteParmi toutes ces dames, ma préférence va vers Mary ainsi qu'Amalia qui
ReplyDeleteest délicieuse, très bien maquillée et coiffée ; elle porte à merveille les diamants/rubis de l'écrin royal !
CP Mary, Victoria and Elisabeth for me ☺️
DeleteMary and Kate best dressed!
ReplyDeleteKate and Elisabeth best dressed
DeleteHonorable mention to Princess Beatrice. I love the sleeves and color of her gown.
DeleteI wonder if Princess Rajwa would have been better suited wearing her Henna dress for the evening reception. What she did wear, seemed to swallow her up.Her wedding dress was so beautiful and designed beautifully for her height and shape.
ReplyDeleteI thought PoW looked sublime. Jenny Packham never fails to deliver on glamorous. Plus the King has opened the vaults for her to wear the Grenville earrings.
CP Victoria looked beautiful in the bold colour.
Both young CP’s did themselves and their parents proud.
What a wonderful day of celebrations. Wishing the happy couple a lifetime of blessings! Bea
Crown Princesses Elisabeth and Catharina-Amalia looked lovely, nice to see the younger generation of Royals!
ReplyDeleteNot impressed by the senior Royal Ladies. The Princess of Wales looked like a Las Vegas Christmas tree, what was she thinking? Queen Maxima, Queen Sophia and Crown Princess Mary just blended in. Crown Princess Victoria added some colour, but horrible shoulders and cape.
Leon
Agree, on point.
DeleteWhere did Princess Elisabeth get the tiara she is wearing, why does Queen Mathilde not wear it instead of the one and only tiara she sometimes wears in 1 piece and some times the 2 pieces together. Crown Princess Mary looked lovely. Queen Maxima looked okay, Princess Amalia needs to hit the gym while she is still young, the dress made her look to busty. I liked the dress the bride wore that many criticized, it makes a statement. Of course Kate looked lovely too, she must have a big wardrobe budget.
ReplyDeleteReportedly, Elisabeth Belgium's tiara was an 18th birthday gift from her parents. The tiara vault in Belgium is fairly small--though the Queen does have access the 9 Provinces tiara (as you mention that does break up into 2 pieces), the Laurel Wreath tiara she received from the nobility of Belgium when she married CP Phillipe (at the time, which can be a sizeable necklace or tiara) and the necklace from the late Queen Fabiola that can be worn as a small tiara (the "Wolfers" as we call it.) Perhaps none of these suited Elisabeth's taste, and this was available at a fair rate. It's lovely that the young princess has her own diadem, imo, and if she chooses to share with Mom, that's fine. Perhaps, in time, Grandma Paola may share her private tiara with her granddaughters....but perhaps not.
DeleteYes Orangemily the tiara Queen Mathilde wore at her wedding was an art-deco piece often worn by Queen Paola, I don't know this is Paola's private tiara. I know that Royal jewelry is personal in Belgium and does not belong to the state.
DeleteBest dresses: Q Jetsun Pema, CP Mary and CP Victoria, nice color: dress CP Elisabeth, but I don’t like the sleeves.
ReplyDeleteCP Amalia: ugly dress ( color and buste part). CP Kate: too much make up.
Agree with you 👍
DeleteClaire
I know that the bride's Gala dress isn't a favorite of commentators online, but it has kind of grown on me. I wouldn't have chosen it, but I am not a princess and future queen. It's a statement ballgown, OTT as only Dolce and Gabana can manage. The view from the rear is spectactular.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice's gown is lovely but I do wish she had done something with her hair to better showcase the York tiara. It looks bushy and messy. She has the kind of hair that would make a gorgeous chignon.
Kate looks spectacular-no surprise- but somehow I feel like I have seen this same evening look from her many times.
Catharina-Amalia and Princess Elisabeth look lovely. Very surprised not to see Princess Olympia of Greece or any of her brothers.
Catharina-Amalia is also a crown princess just like Elisabeth. If you are speaking of both in one sentence you should call them both (crown) princess.
DeleteWho made you the word police Anon 17.18?
DeleteIt is not a question of using the right words or the right way of writing , it is rather showing you are polite and aware of their titles and the way to speak about royal princesses!
DeleteWe all know they both are crown princesses. No need to nitpick.
DeleteTotally agree about the back-view photo of the bride and groom entering the reception. Absolutely stunning! — Jane
DeleteThey ALLLLL look beautiful. Yes, I even liked the bride's "Princess" gown. Gorgeous!! I loved how C.P. Catharina-Amalia looked in her pretty red gown. She was GORGEOUS!! Kate was gorgeous in her pretty pink dress. Really pretty doesn't do ANY of them justice. They were all spectacular!! And I really liked the different fabric that C.P. Mary added to her gown which she originally wore to C.P. Victoria's wedding. Really they were all "off the chart" for me. I just wish Q. Letizia had been there too!!
ReplyDeleteThe bride’s reception dress is, shall I say, not making me jump for joy. Victoria’s dress, on the other hand, is perfect. She looks goo in this vivid pink and I’m always happy to see sleek lines. Elisabeth’s and Catharina-Amalia’s gowns are also very good IMO.
ReplyDeleteNow, this was perhaps the most sparkle-ish event of the year, with all (well, most of them; no one from Thailand, Marocco, Monaco, Eswatini, Lesotho, Tonga, and the likes) the royals showing up in their fineries and jewels. The bride, to me, seemed to be eager to give the impression (at the gala reception) of a modern woman from the Arabic Peninsula, with a western oriented style. I get that. But then she had to wear long white gloves with her second dress as to not show too much skin on her bare arms, which would have been certainly not approved of by such people like the Sultan of Brunei, the King of Malaysia, etc. This gave her the unfortunate overall appearance of an Empress Sisi (Elisabeth) of Austria style, which - of course - is somewhat outdated. Maybe that's what she thought how a more European royal wedding look could/should be achieved. Maybe she just wanted to be a Disney princess that particular night. Who knows? I cannot criticise her for going after a look she obviously wished to have. I just fell off my sofa when I saw 1. Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan in a tiara (it was a small riviere, but nonetheless) and 2. Princess Beatrice in the York Tiara. Everybody else looked so wonderful, too. My vote for best look goes to CP Mary of Denmark. So classy!
ReplyDeleteBut long gloves are extremely fashionable just now? I think if the gloves were for modesty, she ought to have draped them over her sizeable decolletée :-)
DeleteAbout the gloves of the bride : wearing long gloves is in again. Remember the black long gloves worn by the Princess of Wales not so long ago on a gala event (I don't remember exactly on what occasion)
DeleteI think DSC you are projecting - the bride has lived and studied in the US, I doubt she felt the need to wear gloves to cover a bit of arm. If that were the case why didn't she wear a higher neckline?
DeleteIncredibly patronising comment. I am quite sure Rajwa is well aware of current Western fashions -- the middle Eastern wealthy are some of the largest consumers of European haute couture!
DeleteLadies, ladies, please calm down. Didn't I just say that it most likely was how she wanted to look? Her choice, her wedding day. I know that Princess Rajwa has been well educated, and also that she studied abroad. And I also know, of course, that long gloves currently make some sort of re-appearance at gala-events. But please give your names when answering me. Never got that "Anonymous" thing here anyway, sorry.
DeleteThe reception gown of the bride, I don't like.
ReplyDeleteCatherine looks superb, the gown is stunning, it glided as she walked. Love the Grenville chandelier earrings, the antique deco brooch was a lovely addition.
Queen Maxima and Amalia looked stunning.
Some really beautiful gowns and jewels.
So many tiaras. Everyone tried to look their best. The bride is beautiful but the second dress is not her best look. I think it's too busy with that swirl pattern. A long sleeve gown with less fussy design is more elegant on her, I think. But still best wishes to happy couple.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, stunning and beautiful as ever in wedding attire, and reception gown.
ReplyDeleteAmalia, unfortunate about the short sleeves and tiara that does not quite suit her in reception attire.
Maxima, her wedding dress was unsuitable for this wedding, as it was cut way too low in the front. It was a pretty gown, but not for a wedding with their customs. Her reception attire was ok, nothing special.
Beatrice tried hard, but when ones tiara is sitting crooked on your head, it ruins the whole look you are trying to achieve (for the reception). It is shown at a crooked angle on two different web sites, not this site.
The rest of the ladies looked lovely in their respective wedding and reception gowns, the men handsome.
The bride and groom looked outstanding in both wedding and reception attire. Wish them well. Moira
About Beatrice's tiara: you can only tell it is crooked if you see it from the top of her head. That is a petty criticism. It could have slipped out of place a little.
DeleteToo much make up, Kate looks matronly. Not fan of the dress either.
DeleteFresher look would be Victoria or Mary in my opinion. Elisabeth’s dress is vibrant and she’s young so can’t compare to the 40s-50s above.
Anna
I agree with most of your points. The second bridal gown was a work of art. Amazing craftsmanship and it fit her like a glove. Since this was always going to be an extravaganza, it’s only fitting that the bride has the most spectacular gown of them all.
ReplyDeleteMary wins huge bonus points for being considered about the impact of reckless spending. And this second transformation of her gown is extremely good (unlike Kate’s white gown, this is a well thought out design). Beatrice looked so wonderful too. Unlike most, I personally didn’t like Victoria’s Barbie dress. The best )(after the bride) was Rania. Such attention to detail and artistry. One can also see she wears her gown, not the other way around. The others were all nice, if not anything worth mentioning.
For sure this was an exceptional occasion for tiaras. So many beautiful designs, such diversity as well! Even some of the former European Royal Houses brought them out. Some were not seen for many, many decades. I loved looking at them in all photos.
Wonderful occasion with a spectacular showing. Wishing the newly weds a lifetime of happiness.

About the tiaras: does anyone have information about Queen Sofia's set of jewelry? It's a very original tiara, but I'm wondering if it's supposed to be worn like this? It looks like part of a set with the necklaces that maybe can be worn in different ways? She definitely looks stunning wearing it this way.
DeleteThis is the bling and sparkle I wanted, and had hopped, to see at KCIII's coronation. Good, bad, ugly, too much meringue - this is why we watch and blog about royal fashion! "Vive la différence!!!"

What a beautiful wedding. The wedding gown was so different it made it just stunning the bride and groom are stunning. I wish them all the happiness on Eart. Some of the guest's gown are nicer than others. Beautiful to watch all the Tiaras. I do must say Pss Beatrice of York and husband looked stunning in both gowns and of course the York Tiara had not been seen in a very long time. The PoW as always elegant and grand. So are many more? I wish i could have been there. css.
ReplyDeleteKate looked pretty in figure hugging dress but I think she should have pinned up her hair.
ReplyDeleteClearly the bride wanted a Cinderella moment. Can't blame her for that. I just wish she'd have picked a less busy design. She can shine without all the extra embellishment.
ReplyDeletePrincess of Wales, meh. She's done better and I think I'm bored with that tiara. Those super fabulous earrings need a more structured, less frilly tiara.
Princess Catherine Amelia is out shining her mother. The red dress suits her and the tiara works on her.
Victoria looks bright. I do like the dress and jewels she chose.
I'm not sure about what you mean by the Cinderella moment matter.
DeleteI just want to remind you that the bride has been soaked with luxury and opulence since the very first day she was born so she didn't need to live a lavish moment uniquely on her wedding day.
Anyway, this is the bride's choice.
I suggest you watch a video where the bride Is standing and greeting all the guests to have a clearer view of her gown.
Lavish and over-embellished gowns and at least two changes are expected in eastern countries weddings.
It could be interesting to get to know how weddings are planned and carried out in those cultures( including the hennè ceremonies ahead of weddings).
Thanks, but you don't need to remind me of her background.
DeleteA Cinderella moment refers to the shape of her dress. Middle Eastern fashion, even over the top Saudi women, do not normally wear full skirted ball gowns and a boat load of crinoline.
I like her second dress! I don't care if the rest wore paper bags..........TIARAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBehind the fame and glamour of the Elie Saab fashion name is a Lebanese man, soon to be 60 years old and who is married with three sons..
ReplyDeleteHis life is a rags to riches story. The eldest of 5 children, his mother was a housewife and his father a wood merchant. With a mix of a lot of “self taught” and a little professional education, his work became noticeable and sought after in Europe and America.
Over the years he has built up an international reputation for wedding gowns.Early in his career, he justified the price of these gowns by using expensive fabrics, lacework and ornamental jewels.
The humble little boy from a suburb in Beirut, Lebanon who, at a very young age, used newspaper to make patterns for making dresses has now moved into the world elite of fashion designers.
Bravo Mr.Saab.
NOTE : information from various sources on the internet. .
I think Hereditary Duchess Stephanies' wedding dress was also created by him. It's one of my favourite of all times. He makes exquisite designs indeed.
Delete@Anon 08:32
DeleteYes he was the creator behind the wedding dress of Hereditary Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg, plus a long list of other notable names.
I read but forgot to mention that as a young boy using newspaper to cut out patterns and using his sister as his model, his parents thought he was going to become a tailor.
I like Rawja's dress very much, very romantic and dreamy. Fairytales are IMO better then elegance
ReplyDeleteIf the bride wants to wear white to her reception, that is her choice. The Duchess of Sussex wife white to her reception as well. I think everyone looks fantastic. Unless I overlooked them, I do not see the King and Queen of Spain. And why are African royals always never invited?
ReplyDeleteI don't think the comments made here were directed against her wearing white for the reception. Many brides did, including, as you said, The Duchess of Sussex, and also The Princess of Wales. Most comments were about the massiveness of the skirt, so overwhelming that it made it difficult for her to navigate around. That was all. But she chose it, she wanted it that way, so all is good. Yes, King Felipe and Queen Letizia had been absent, but former King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia represented Spain. As for more attendees from other African countries - I noticed their absence, too. In particular Morocco, but also Lesotho or Eswatini. Also, no one from Thailand seemed to have been there. I am sure invitations were extended their way but they could not make it for various reasons. Would be my guess on that matter.
DeleteIf any Royals were absent as you observed, it's likely because they were not invited. Just being a monarch anywhere in the world does not secure an invitation. Your country must have close ties with the host country Jordan, and to the Jordanian monarchy, to be invited to an event like this.
DeleteIf you receive an invitation based on political diplomacy, attendance is usually limited to only 2 representatives, and you decide which 2 you will send. If you have both political and personal ties with the family, invitations to more than 2 could be issued, as in the case of the UK and the USA who each had at least 6 attendees that I know of, but probably more. The guest list is made up of royalty, politicians, friends and commoners from both sides of the couple families. Friends and commoners account for about 70% of the 1,700 dinner attendees.

Least favourite is Bea faux halter top bodice. I dont find it a flattering or classy look, though she wears it well.
ReplyDeleteThought each woman was beautiful. The bride was gorgeous in everything she wore, and looked so happy.
ReplyDeleteThe groom is very handsome. A fairytale wedding celebration.
Of course Tiaras. All are royalty from many countries. Love this good positive news in a time of all negative comments.
As said, the Middle Eastern culture is very different than our Western culture and this is a proud happy family.
Best wishes to the young couple in future. And thanks for the great photos.
The bride's mother and the groom's mother were the best dressed. All this talk about cultural differences seems moot as both the bride and the groom were educated in the United States of America. Upon viewing the attendees, it's obvious there has been a lot of inbreeding in all the royals from all countries. How rude of Prince William appearing to jog away from the Princess. Men should elevate their partners. How gauche.
ReplyDeletePW jogged away? Where? When? From whom? Please elaborate. And where does inbreeding come into play? Most royal houses have chosen partners far out of the inner aristocratic circles in the last decades. The genetic pools therefore have been massively widened. So, not sure to what exactly you are referring.

DeleteAbout the Waleses: if I were you, I would consider working for the gutter press.
At least, you would be paid for all of your baseless badmouthing.
Pity you're wasting away your talented imagination.
Anyway, don't worry, you're regaling us with the most interesting platitudes your mind could ever conceive.
Thank you.

Why did Mary show up with a bare shoulder? Did she not get the memo? Seems very disrespectful. It's not like she doesn't have alternatives.
ReplyDeleteRajwa's dress is, I suspect, the sort that needs to be seen in person to be appreciated fully.
Overall, the group looked smashing. What a fun party it appeared to be!
There was no 'memo' - both literally and figuratively.
DeleteIn a modern and fairly relaxed society such as in Jordan, you are allowed to wear and dress as you like to a party. I have attended diplomatic corps parties in Jordan and I have seen. This was a party. A lavish wedding reception. Western dress is perfectly acceptable among modern, sophisticated Jordanians. This evening party was not a religious ceremony, nor was it anywhere in, or near, a mosque. Also, remember that you are only seeing photos of less than 1% of the 1,700 people who attended the reception. I'm sure that there were lots of well-shod women who were dressed similarly to Mary among the remaining 1,500+ guests.

Oh wow..I just saw photos on another site, showing that Princess Aisha, who is one of King Abdullah's two twin sisters (P. Muna's daughters), wore the exact same dress (and colour) for the earlier religious ceremony that P. Beatrice wore for the evening reception.
ReplyDeleteI suppose that two prominent ladies, both wearing the same dress to a wedding must be a good blessing of some kind. I don't know if P. Aisha wore the dress to the evening reception as well (likely not), and what if anything, was running through Beatrice's mind when she saw P. Aisha at the early ceremony where there were only 140 guests, wearing the dress she would be wearing in a few hours time.

Wall to wall tiaras thats what we like to see;lovely sparkly dress.Who says that the inflation in the world is large;and poverty and homelessness is on the rise;it's always good to have a knees up of the well to do.The fashion industry is alive and well.To be honest I had the best wedding;and my handsome husband was a knight in shining armour.(Tara)
ReplyDeleteWOW, so many amazing dresses divided into classic and more glamorous styles 💜.... represented by CP Victoria and Princess Kate.
ReplyDeleteBut CP Mary of Denmark in a one shoulder dress 🥺..... how inappropriate for a wedding in Jordan, sorry.

Worst royal bridal gown, hands down.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know what the green/black and red sashes CP Victoria, Maxima and Sofia are wearing??
