The Princess of Wales made a surprise appearance during the opening of the grand final of Eurovision Song Contest 2023 on Saturday evening alonside Andrew Lloyd Webber, rapper Ms Banks and Kalush Orchestra from Ukraine, winner of the contest last year. The Princess appeared in the opening sequence film with a pre-recorded clip in which she plays an instrumental version of Kalush Orchestra's winning song Stefania on the piano.
The instrumental performance was composed by Joe Price and Kojo Samuel. The clip was recorded at Windsor Castle earlier this month. As a tradition of the contest, the winning country hosts the following year, but because of the war in Ukraine, the contest is being held in Liverpool this year.

How very beautiful!
ReplyDeletetotally beautiful both inside her heart and outside. William and the Royal family struck Gold with this one, a treasure.

DeleteDon’t you think the compliment is a bit over the top ? 🤗
DeleteThis is fairytale princess material, executed to perfection. She looks fantastic, lovely colour and wonderful hair and make-up. I hope she repeats this exact look for a major event someday!
ReplyDeleteStunning! A gorgeous setting for Catherine and her gown--both of which are beautiful. Cannot wait to see her wear this gown to an event so we can see even better.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Agree. Such a lovely initiative to take part in.
DeleteStunningly beautiful dress and princess!!

Deleteshe played for more than 9 seconds, this all that was used in the clip.

DeleteSehr theatralisch, aber offensichtlich wirkungsvoll, die Leute sind begeistert...
DeleteWell, Anon04:03 I would love to hear from you why you think it attention grabbing. It was supportive of a worthy cause, it was done in coordination and cooperation with other artists, it was not overly long as to not draw too much focus on her. I can't see anything done wrong here. So, please elaborate what your problem with it is.
Deleteto @Anonymous 15/5/23 04:03, "Attention grabbing": Exactly. So just stop it, it's pathetic.
Delete@Anon 23:47 What does it matter if she played all day long if we're only shown 9 seconds of it? Have you seen more than 9 seconds of this "performance" of hers? (She was more real at the Christmas performance a year ago).
Delete@Anon 04:03 I totally agree - attention grabbing at its height. Especially the way the skirt of her dress is neatly fanned out all around the seat. How many attendants did it take to put that into place? How come no one is screaming 'fake posing' here? This isn't a TV commercial or a perfume ad. We know she plays the piano - so why not give a real and honest representation of it?
I've no doubt that Catherine has a good heart and all that, but this eye-rolling, 'look at me' ostentation is only endearing to the most gullible (as you can see).
- Anon 9:13
Can’t agree more about the pure attention grabbing 👍 how much efforts putting into this show?
DeleteShe’s probably practising piano every day like this … who knows … lets us dream of fairytale and the perfect world, lol …
R.
This is all about promoting the British Royal Family and man, she is definitely a fantastic promoter. She appears to be beautiful, kind, genuine and above reproach. She is the biggest advantage the Royal Family has right now. They were wise to put her in this video. She plays well too.
DeleteWow, just wow about the attention grabbing comments. If she was attention grabbing, she would have demanded a full song be played. As for someone helping her skirt be layed nicely, I guess it should have been bunched up in a wad. It is television, nothing is 'real'.
DeleteChel
Princess Kate looks absolutely gorgeous in the blue gown 💙and this hair styling 👏❣️
ReplyDelete- ML
Absolutely stunning photos of a gorgeous Princess of Wales! I.P.
ReplyDeleteThat was probably a fun engagement compared to some of the others.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful... Just wow. Wish we can see image of her standing. The colour of the dress is lovely. Perfect for Catherine.
ReplyDeleteWow, she looks amazing in that blue colour
ReplyDeleteMeravigliosa 💛💙
ReplyDeleteRossella
Love this shade of blue amongst these shades of red. Gorgeous colour story.
ReplyDeleteMusic is a wonderful way to express ideas and connect people.
Brava, Princess Kate, brava!
Вера 💚🦋
Wonderful, Lights up a dull world ❤️
ReplyDeleteTout est parfait en partant de cette robe d'un très joli bleu jusqu'à sa magnifique chevelure ; peut-être qu'à l'avenir, nous aurons l'occasion de mieux la voir !

ReplyDeleteAnna, I agree. They seem to be turning Kate into a celebrity and/or making her the face of the British monarchy. No denying though that she looks stunning here & of course she knows it. |Melanie|

DeleteOh dear. Why are you here on a blog like this when you obviously dislike royal appearances/engagements for worthy causes? Only cutting ribbons allowed in your narrow-minded world?
Delete@DSC : no offense here, i understand that her fans become virulent any time we comment anything outside ‘perfect’ with regards to Kate … i actually mean hope to see her more often on engagement for worthy cause that actually raise people awareness (ref to other royals - Spain or the Nordics or even other members of the brits royals) rather than ‘engagement’ to show off piano skills or to cut ribbons …
DeleteIt’s however nice to see fairytale dresses on this blog 👍
Perhaps you should open your eyes a bit more @Suz. Whilst I can appreciate that some people don't like the optics of this particular appearance the Princess of Wales is often present for good causes.
DeleteIt is good to read different opinions!
DeleteThis is a stunning gown, beautiful shade of blue. The Duchess looks gorgeous.
ReplyDeletenot Duchess anymore. She got an upgrade Princess of Wales, Queen in waiting 😍
Deletemissy-- thank you for correcting me, my apologies.
DeleteBeautiful and talented, no more to say. css
ReplyDeleteWow, this is beautiful, the shots, the dress and the hair and even if is for mere 9 seconds, which i could not even do, is just stunning!
ReplyDeleteSlava Ukraïni!
Luna
Wow! She looks beautiful. What a lovely appearance! She has a good team around her.
ReplyDeleteLooks like pictures from a fairytale.. She is surreal. They should all be so very grateful that Prince William married a woman like her. I think she alone will save the British Monarchy…

ReplyDeleteI work as a volunteer with Ukrainian refugees in my country. The support of the Princess of Wales means a lot to them and they don't have any mixed feelings about it like you, who probably only read about this topic on the pages of the tabloids.
DeleteStephanie
Oh, wow, Stephanie, I think you answered that comment quite nicely! But also, in response to Anonymous 10:54, I don't think in this case it was PR for the monarchy, but a soft show of support for Ukraine. And that was what it was about, not about her playing the full 10-minute piece.
DeletePiano playing its nothing new, most ppl play it....
ReplyDeleteAgree with you. Most royals play piano ….
DeleteNo they don't. What a ridiculous comment.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
DeleteMOST people do NOT play the piano - most implies piano players are the majority of people. That is simply not true. You don't have to admire this particular appearance by the Princess of Wales but you don't need to make up "facts" to make your case.
DeleteYou are lucky I don't play the piano.
DeleteOtherwise, you'd have to buy earplugs😁
She looks divine. Great color, cut, great hair, makeup...
ReplyDeleteI still want to refer to those who comment on it contemptuously (anon 4:59 p.m., 4:03 a.m., 9:45 p.m.). The Princess of Wales and her team have been cooperating with Ukrainian artists and refugees for a long time: for example, the participation of a Ukrainian children's choir in a Christmas concert, visits to a refugee center, etc. I think it is commendable that she expressed her support for Ukraine and cooperated with the Ukrainian group Kalusha. That was important, not her performance, although that was pretty good too.
To anon 19:35
The role of all celebrities is to draw attention to important projects. Diana advocated banning the use of landmines. Do you think she personally defused landmines? Of course not. She was just walking in front of the cameras in a pyrotechnic outfit, but — it caught the attention of the public.
Stephanie
By the way, what do you mean with a pyrotechnic outfit?? :)
DeleteShe looks divine. Great color, cut, great hair, makeup...

That's too little....
DeleteTo ANon 16: 19 And what so great and important have you done?
DeleteLia
Far more than others, i presume
DeleteCatherine looks absolutely beautiful in these frames.
ReplyDeleteIt does make me smile, when the same people moaning about Catherine’s prominent appearances of late, were the same ones that would be complaining she did nothing or not enough back in the day!
Seeing President Zelenskyy is back in the UK today, I am sure he values the support coming from the UK in all its forms!
As for Catherine making a difference. It would be naive of anyone to think her presence doesn’t make a difference or highlight a cause! It pushes it onto the global stage!
Catherine has never looked more confident. Long may it continue. Bea
One more fabulous appeareance from Princesse Kate .
ReplyDeleteA truly worthy cause to support, well done!
Catherine looks amazing in this shade of cobalt blue and the bottom of her gown is so graciously placed on the floor like petals of a flower.
Gorgeous make- up and hairstyle tool
Catherine is one of the official persons in Britain. She was on job here - she worked on behalf of Britain to welcome Ukraine (she wore Ukrain`s colour) and all this was planned by the organaizers and palace. Those accusations of attention grabbing must be demotivating when she just try to do her job! Fantastic dress - charming to look at, and good for the ear. Nice gesture to welcome Ukrain by an official person.
ReplyDeleteHas anybody complaining about the so- called attention- grabbing and very short appeareance from the Princess ever considered that any artist or any other public figure featured in a show or in a video whatever- even more on the occasion of a contest like this one- are unable to choose by themselves their exposure time?
ReplyDeleteI think every single performer taking part in a show is given an planned amount of time by other people behind the scenes, according to a a script or scheme.
This context was not about the Princess but about international singers.
The Princess contribution was short and uniquely meant to be supportive of a nation and people suffering from the consequences of a destructive war.
That's all.
Haters seem determined to hate these days around here. I'm sorry to see and hear. This blog once was created to keep people informed about royal fashion and to encourage readers to comment on - guess what - right! exactly that fashion. Now it shifts dangerously into the realm of online trolling, one way or another. So sad.
ReplyDeleteYes it’s all about fashion and royal activities. If it’s a blog allowing comments, then we should all accept different opinions & be open minded…. I find Kate’s fans often follow up with heated comments if others say something that does not align with their praise …
DeleteI don't find that the non-fans are any better. In fact too many opinions on this blog about any royal are not backed up with any proof.
DeleteAnon 20:37 I very much agree. In fact if I am not able to rave madly about the Princess of Wales's every move I often skip the blog in question because her posse can be disturbing.
ReplyDeleteThat said, she looks completely enchanting in this clip imho.
Anyone's posse or anti-posse can be disturbing.
DeleteLet's face it - the comments are accepted so the owner must have no problem with it - in fact, I think she enjoys it.
Same for me! Blogs about other royals are more agreeable and peaceful. Only comments about PoW raise lots of debates very much ‘black’ or ‘white’ sides 😂
DeleteNot much interest … we all reckon she is a good looking woman, a goddess for fans but not perfect for non-fans. Can we have some fun on this blog and accept various opinions?
Mary
Good that we can all skip some articles for any personal reasons. That is what I do about..., guess whom !, M&H.
DeleteGood cause, pretty dress, although I find the thin shoulder not attractive. Very reminiscent of her piano accompaniment with Tom Walker. She should shorten her hair so it doesn't look so heavy
ReplyDeleteYour comment sounds like one written from somebody who does not know much/anything about gyms, workout and muscle mass.
DeleteThe Princess has a thin frame so the muscle mass you can see on her shoulder - arm is well balanced as compared to her whole body mass.
May I suggest you try some kind of workout yourself?
P. Why getting personal? (Again)
ReplyDelete02:41 There are no accusation like "attention grabbing" and similar comments about other royals on this blog. When we write such things instead of fashion comments, it should at least be proven. Of course we can have opinions, but unproven, negative accusations are not fun?
ReplyDeleteHaven‘t been here for some time, i am a bit confused: so many removed comments. Hope, that everyone is ok here… anna e.
ReplyDeleteA lot was happening here, a bit heated. To me, the comments have not been that unfriendly.
DeleteBecause Kate’s fans are very passionate 😂 … if you can’t highly praise her then better keep quiet 🤐 and leave this blog … otherwise sadly it will lead to some very heated debates …
DeleteInteresting though as don’t see this on blogs about other royals …
Gorgeous gown, I hope we get to another viewing soon.
ReplyDeleteHas the gutter press and the haters squeezed all the juice out of the Sussex lemon and now looking for fresh fodder?
ReplyDeleteUhm… when the Queen parachuted to the Olympic stadium alongside James Bond, we didn’t hear any comments about attention grabbing…
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteExactly. Again, The Princess of Wales appeared in a teeny-tiny clip while playing a certain melody on the grand piano in the Crimson Drawing Room at Windsor Castle. Yes, she was filmed and therefore made up and styled for this shooting. That is what is usually done when filming professionally. No one in their right mind would sit in this grand surrounding in jeans and a jumper, in particular not when the whole thing was going to be broadcast for a huge night time TV event. Everyone attending was wearing glitz and evening attire. I am certain that she was kindly asked to contribute by the organisers of the European Song Contest and - perhaps - the Ukrainian side, too. Do not forget that about ten days ago First Lady Selenska met up with Catherine (and other members of the BRF).
DeleteWhen the queen parachuted into the olympic stadium, there were no comments about attention grabbing because it was MEANT to be attention grabbing....That 5 -10 minute segment WAS meant to be all about the queen...focusing on something no one was expecting, and it was done brilliantly, with context and humour. It accomplished its purpose 100%. It wasn't a 9 second clip, dressed to the nines, casually slipped into a sequence. There is no comparison between the two.
Delete- Anon 9:13
I remember clip with Daniel Craig and the dogs. Absolutly fabulous!
DeleteThis is giving me hope that other inappropriate comments will be zapped in the future. It has been a long time coming.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the ‘inappropriate’ comment according to you? …
DeleteI bet most of the haters have not watched the show at all. I did watch and did not even see this, until I read the next day that she, and also the King and Queen, were in the introduction video. I had to rewatch it, and both appearances turn out to be so unbelievably short that you miss them when you blink at the wrong moment.
