Queen Maxima opened the renovated Van Gogh Village Museum in Nuenen. Van Gogh lived in Nuenen between December 1883 and November 1885 and painted about a quarter of his oeuvre there, including his first major work named The Potato Eaters. The museum focuses on the life and work of Van Gogh during this period by shedding light on the artist's life in Nuenen by means of the stories about his family, friends and models.
It's awkward that it looks like her coat is constantly falling off her shoulder. Wear a cape or actually wear the coat. However, I love the color combo of the tan and slate blue here, very pretty.

Totally agree!!
DeleteOh, please put your arms in the sleeves, that is where they are made for!
ReplyDeleteThis “ shoulder hugging” does not give you a more “ royal” look if that might be your intention.

The woman in the blue suit, wearing trainers looked a right mess, as did Maxima with the over the top hat, shoulders draped with a winter coat, and a dress with far too many ruffles. Nice purse and shoes.
ReplyDeleteThat woman in the blue suit is definitely not wearing trainers, it just are business shoes in a pastel colour. This is fashionable in the Netherlands, if you like it that is another thing.
DeleteThe dress is horrible! Ugly color and the misplaced ruffles are squashed. Even Max can’t pull this look off.
ReplyDeleteI like the dress and the big hat. The hat is very Maxima! Again I don't understand the coat hanging loose over the shoulder. Wear it, or leave it in the car. It just looks in the way.
ReplyDeleteAgain I don't understand why a hanging coat can be an issue. It may be useful to have it available at all time, weather is quickly changing, and it seems to be trendy, why not. Do all principles have to be cast for ever ? The date today is 05/16/23 !
ReplyDeleteCoat over shoulders, annoying.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that this dress would never come out of her closet again ( although rewears in general very ok). The dress is too short. And indeed use the sleeves of yr coat. But what's happening on one side this coat. Fabrics kind of bubbling? Colour combination fine
ReplyDeleteThis is pure Max being Max - big hat and coat around the shoulders. - and I simply love it! Except for the dress - too tight and a little too short. When it's worn that high up, the skirt needs to be a little longer for proper proportion on a tall figure.

Couldn’t agree more! Classic Maxima. I love it!

Yep, nobody can do better with a "Maxima" look than Queen Maxima. 😁
DeleteQMax has a little too much going on here. If she got rid of the ruffles she would look great. I love when she wear hats because they cover her unkempt hair! The lady in royal blue and blue shoes is a mess but the lady wearing the colorful coat over white blouse and pants with blue pumps looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteNot a wining outfit in my view. The dress is too short and also looks quite tight and the grey and tan combo seems drab. While I love Queen Maxima's hat, perhaps one of her cloche/turbans might have made more sense on this occasion.
ReplyDeletethose turbans are ugly as ….
DeleteHmmm--I really want to like this whole outfit but...1) the dress has fit issues even though its a pretty dress; 2) the coat is great but I am fed up with this look of draping it over the outfit underneath--its ridiculous and if the coat is kept open then you can see the outfit underneath well enough; 3) the hat--I don't think it was the best choice here and I feel she has another hat that would have worked better because that huge turned up brim in the front is not working here. The color combo is great here and the whole has potential.

Nice dress, but I think she outgrew it.? css
ReplyDeleteWhy all the comments about her clothes? What about how nice it is for the museum to be open again?
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
This is a fashion blog. Commenting on clothes is what we do.
DeleteI usually love what Q. Maxima wears. I love her attitude "Go Big or Go Home" and I love soft blue and beige together, but this dress, while pretty doesn't fit her right. Makes her look bigger than she is. I like the coat, hat and shoes but the dress is a miss for me.
ReplyDeleteI think she needs to get rid of everything in her closet and start over with the help of a good stylist.
ReplyDelete...Marie
Suzanne, because this blog is about fashion.
ReplyDeleteI have the impression that QMaxima's dress shrinked. The first time I saw her with this dress it was not so tight and also a bit longer I think.
ReplyDeleteIts nice Queen Maxima is trying something different. The ruffles down the front, Imo are misplaced, they appear to add bulk, the length of the dress is problematic, not quite long enough. . The color of her shoes and clutch are a tad drab.
ReplyDeleteI am still surprised how many can't accept it when a woman puts her coat over her shoulders. Women have been doing it for as long as I can remember.
ReplyDeleteMax, dear: I have always loved your panache; your radiant, ever-present smile; your 'joie de vivre'; and your bold sense of 'go big or go home'. When it comes to that last item, no other holds a candle when you 'nail it', and then I shake my head in wonderment to when you miss like you miss. Would you consider finding a "style" like so many other royal ladies (QEII, your mother-in-law, the Empress Michiko, or Princess Benedikte)? Most of us knew those august ladies in older years, but history shows us they found their style early-on and grew with it. So, girlfriend, it's time to get your hair fixed, wear skirts that aren't meant for 20-somethings, and replace the ruffles with some jools. Keep the magnificent smile. You go, girl, I know you can do this!

Why talking as if Queen Maxima is your pupil. I wonder if you would talk like that to a female member of the BRF ? Queen Maxima is wearing an old dress here. You like it or you don't, but she has every right to wear it if she wants to. Queen Maxima does not have to find her style. She already found it. She don't have to take lessons from you. Well I hope when she or one of her daughters read this they start laughing with your silly and stupid comments.
DeleteI think you must be the "anonymous" who oftens talks about stupid comments.
ReplyDeleteWhy not make life easy for yourself and go plug into a blog where non-stupid comments are presented.🤐
She looks clownish.
