On May 30, Queen Mathilde received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Hasselt, in the year when both the Queen and the University celebrate their 50th birthdays. With this doctorate, the University wished to emphasize the efforts Queen Mathilde makes for those who suffer from poverty and exlusion. Virologist Erika Vlieghe and environmental epidemiologist Jordi Sunyer also became the new honorary doctors of Hasselt University.
Congrats to Mathilde. She deserve the recognition she gets
ReplyDeleteÀ very great honour for Queen Mathilde: well deserved!

Multi-colored print dress looks nice with the black & fuchsia robe, but the red shoes and bag clash horribly. S.M.
ReplyDeleteLe noir et le fuchsia s'associent très bien mais le rouge du sac et des chaussures ne convient pas du tout !
ReplyDeleteA wonderful honor for a very intelligent, lovely woman, well deserved. The dress has a nice print, but other than that, cannot see much of the garment.
ReplyDeleteMathilde looks very good in her dress, bag and shoes. Congratulations to her.
ReplyDeleteThe gown and cap is owned and provided by the University, and therefore not for us to comment on.

Well done, Queen Mathilde. Like the look of the print dress which works well with the academic gown
ReplyDeleteWhat an honor for Queen Mathilde. Congratulations well deserved. css
ReplyDeleteThe bag and shoes coordinate nicely with the dress. There are other photos available that show her dress without the robe and the color is more vibrant than what is shown here. Mathilde is not known for making those kinds of fashion errors. She is too conservative for that. I think she would have worn a nude shoe before wearing a shoe that did not pick up a color in the print.
ReplyDeleteThis look confuses me - in a good way! I'm pretty certain I'd hate the dress on its own. The fabric looks clingy, the print dated... but in combination with the university robes, it works brilliantly! The colours go together very well & it's much more interesting to look at than at a plain, solid colour dress. I particularly love the picture of Mathilde standing with just her clutch. She looks so young here, almost as if she was just graduating. Lovely!

I agree totally with your comments. Queen Mathilde looks very young in the photo you mentioned.
DeleteWonderful recognition to the Queen, congratulations to her. She looks lovely in this print dress, her accessories, clutch and shoes look splendid.
ReplyDeleteI think the dress is a little on the tight side and the clours clash with the robe. A plain dress in blue or maybe two tones of blue would have been better in my eyes. And then nude, black or dark blue shoes would have been my choice.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Queen Mathilde. I love and respect her.
ReplyDeleteI also want to congratulate Belgium and the people for their amazing queen.
