On May 20, Prince Ludwig of Bavaria got married to his fiancee Sophie-Alexandra Evekink in a religious marriage ceremony at St Kajetan Church in Munich. Prince Ludwig and Sophie-Alexandra had announced their engagement last August. Prince Alois and Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein, Princess Margarita and Prince Radu of Romania, Prince Louis of Luxembourg were among the guests who were present at the marriage ceremony.
After the church wedding, a reception was hosted by Prince Ludwig's cousin, Franz, Duke of Bavaria, at the Nymphenburg Palace. Prince Ludwig, 40, is the eldest son of Prince Luipold and the great-great grandson of Bavaria's last King Ludwig. Criminology PHD student Princess Sophie-Alexandra, 32, was born in Singapore to a Dutch-Canadian family.
She is a charming and lovely bride. He would look better if he had a proper shave.
ReplyDeleteHe looks disheveled and like he needs a shower. I find it disrespectful unless she likes the gruff look. She is a stunning bride! The cake is gorgeous!
DeleteCoralie, this is one of my favourite ever comments here - so funny and efficient! I went back to look at the photos, indeed he might have shaved! Her bodice is a bit tight, but she’s my favourite ever royal bride… like a faraway fairytale enchanted bride...the whole outfit is divine. I wish them every happiness. - AnnaLise
Delete@ Coralie. His beard was always like that. Why would he shave it now ?
DeleteHe looks fine. He is a very handsome man who ressembles to one of his famous ancestors.

Absolutely gorgeous tiara and coordinating embroidered veil. The wedding dress is lovely but fits a bit strangely in the bodice. However, the overall look is beautiful in lines and execution. I like her more delicate earrings and necklace since very little is needed to accompany the fabulous tiara.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes to the Newlywed couple A very lovely gown. The Tiara is beautiful, this one belong to his grandmother, Pss Irmingard of Bavaria. Lots of Royal guests, some of them have not been seen in a while. Some of the guest's outfits had been very nice some of them less so. To each their own. Bavaria and the Wittelsbach belong together. css
ReplyDeleteI agree completely! A spectacular tiara for a stunning bride!MR
DeleteEverything looks beautiful- weather, tiara, miniature bridesmaids & miniature groomsmen, guests, and the brides dress and hair. But her dress didn’t fit her right in the chest or shoulders. It was wayyy too small. It looked very uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteI think, the upper part of her gown (bodice) was too tight - she fainted during the wedding ceremony as one could read in the papers. The flower girls and page boys were lovely, Princess Margareta of R. very elegant.

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful bridal gown, not overdone, just right. Her tiara is stunning, the sprinkling of sapphire stones is beautiful. The dainty diamond leaves are gorgeous, this tiara is not sparse, very well designed. Some of the guests look particularly lovely.
-Dorothe-
ReplyDeleteYes, I think Prince Albert and Princess Elisabeth of Turn and Taxis looked very nice. Very stylish Elisabeth's dress, she is beautiful.
DeleteBut they must have thought, as guests at a royal wedding: "Why are we still unmarried, single?"

"
The loveliest bride gown I have seen in a long time. Beautiful tiara too.
ReplyDeletethe neckline of the dress doesn't fit in my eyes, somehow it's all squeezed, overflowing and doesn't look good when you move. besides, you can see her breastbone sticking out.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think, you are right. She looks squeezed; it doesn't look comfortable.
Deletepauline
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous tiara and beautiful veil. I like the dress, especially the buttons on the sleeves. The children are so cute. Looks to me as if her bouquet is Lilies of the Vally.

DeletePauline
Blue is a bavarian colour!
DeleteWhere is the judgment Pauline? It's a statement of preference that's all.
DeletePerhaps the reason why she fainted at the altar during the ceremony was because the dress' bodice was very, very tight. Only after a few sips of a drink (containing sugar would be my guess) was she able to carry on with the ceremony. The tiara is fabulous and goes so well with the blue and white (Bavarian colours) theme of the wedding.

Ruhe Seine Segenshand!
Er behüte deine Fluren,

Und erhalte dir die Farben
Seines Himmels, weiß und blau!

This might be my favourite wedding look of the past few years! I love everything about it - the simplicity of the cut, the not too lace-y lace, the deep, yet appropriate neckline, the tiara, the veil, the little button details... so dreamy! I actually don't mind the bodice, whether the slight tightness is intended or not - it reminds me a bit of historic gowns where the stays/corset would naturally push the bust area up. What I like most is that this is very much a dress the bride can move around in - she looks comfortable and at ease. Love it!
ReplyDelete-Nika-
I agree completely! It’s such a Royal look! MR
DeleteI think the designer tried to channel Sisi/Empress Elizabeth - slight 1860s vibes in the dress, the hairstyle also reminds one of Elizabeth's. After all, she was born only a few meters from Kajetanerkirche and she was one of the most famous Wittelsbach women.
ReplyDeleteAccording to some sources and video reports about this wedding, it seems that Sophie unfortunately collapsed backwards at the altar and was suddenly caught up by the groom while a maid of honour and paramedics also rushed to help her.
ReplyDeleteSometimes fainting is not associated with a serious medical condition and in this case a numberr of reasons may explain the temporary loss of consciosness.
Lack of sleep, anxiety and stress being the most common causes which lead to a sudden pressure drop.
She was given glucose and probably also coke which helps rise blood pressure.
She recovered soon and was able to carry on with the ceremony.
The wedding was televised but of course the fainting moment was not shared with viewers.

Anyway the couple looks gorgeous and the groom is well shaven and with fine hair in close- up pics.
The bride Is simply amazing .
Her gown was reportedly created by a Lebanese stylist.
Wonderful tiara too.
I absolutely love, love love this tiara and veil. She looks lovely. And that cake has to be one of the most beautiful cakes I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous.
Chel
The tiara looks simply gorgeous, just as the bride. I saw reels in Instagram from the wedding and then the dress looked okay but on the photos it becomes clear how tight the bodice was and how it cuts into her upper torso (it looks uncomfortable, how she could breath in it??).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, she was such a gorgeous bride in a beautiful princess gown. Bonus points for choosing bouquet from lily of the valley flowers - a symbol of purity, joy, love, sincerity, happiness and luck,
The groom could have cut his hair and shaved. His greying hair and stubble make him look older than his 40 years but other than that it looked like a lovely and beautiful wedding. Wishing to the newlyweds all the happiness, joy and love!!!

ReplyDeleteOkay, regarding the groom - and all grooms for that matter - either a full beard or clean shaven for the wedding! He looks like he over slept and didn't have time to shower and shave before the wedding!
ReplyDeleteEin traumhaftes Brautkleid!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful couple. I wish them the best, for their future together. Lots of Royal Guests. Who is the young women in blue with Prince Louis of Luxembourg? If they get together, I hope he keep her away from his EX. Never a good Idea to mingle in this way. josebabe.
