The Principality of Monaco is celebrating the centenary of the birth of Prince Rainier III, who was born on May 31, 1923 in Monacoville. The Prince passed away on April 6, 2005 at the age of 81 after 56 years of reign. On May 31, a sculpture walk was inaugurated in Monaco as part of centennial commemoration festivities.
Prince Albert, Princess Charlene, Prince Jacques, Princess Gabriella, Princess Caroline, Princess Stephanie, Charlotte Casiraghi, Tatiana Santo Domingo, Princess Alexandra, Pauline Ducruet and Camille Gottlieb were present at the inauguration ceremony.
As part of centennial commemorations for Prince Rainier, the Department of Cultural Affairs of Monaco launched a project that involves a discovery trail of sculptures placed in public areas to promote the Principality’s artistic heritage, in accordance with Prince Rainier III’s wish to create an open-air museum in Monaco and provide free access for the public to works by famous artists.
This looked to be very interesting and fun day. It appears the royal family were out in force supporting the event, hard to see with some of the photos though.
ReplyDeleteNice that Rainier is being honoured, sometimes its seems like Grace Kelly memory is remembered the most.
DeleteBeatrice and Alexandra wearing old Hollywood glam. Caroline over dressed. Charlene and Stephanie could have done better, especially Stephanie
Charlotte looks great, love the French look, Beatrice as well, very Italian, but Charlene and Stephanie they seem to be having a contest on the worst suit for the day
ReplyDeleteLuna
I almost did not recognize Stephanie.
DeleteI agree on all points.

Me too…schlumpy, ridiculously ill-fitting…they look dreadful. The same is true of the young woman (Camille?) in the similarly schlumpy pale lavender number. What a stark contrast between them and Beatrice and Alexandra in their cool, pretty summer dresses. Honestly, it is baffling. — Jane
DeleteAgree. What a dreadful color and cut of the ‘beige?’ suit. PS: ok suit but she looks exhausted.
DeleteGrotesque!I.
ReplyDeleteCharlene looking at Stephanie like..

Why make something out of nothing? When you have cameras that are taking 100s of shots in a moment, these are the kinds of pictures that are caught. Photographers make far more money on awkward shots than the nice ones for the gutter press. Too many people are willing to fill in the blanks.

DeleteComme .. Que laissez-vous entendre ? Ce serait bien que vous complétiez votre phrase ; de ce que je remarque et à mon humble avis, je vois Charlène très concentrée en train d'écouter Stéphanie !
@Tulipe33 People like this see what they want to see.
DeleteHmmm…not a lot of positives to say about the fashions, but I do like Charlotte's striped dress. P. Charlene’s jacket is too small and the colour is very drab against her complexion. P. Stephanie’s jacket is too oversized for her shape. I’d like to see more of P. Caroline’s red dress. It’s a pretty colour on her. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteLovely idea for a well merited commemoration.
ReplyDeletePlease ask Princess Charlene to return to her platinum blonde appearance which would have been such a bright beacon for an occasion like this.
I agree. This dark hair color combined with the very short cut is too severe. Blond softened the entire effect.
DeleteShe can never win. When she had blond hair she was criticized. When she has dark hair she is criticized...have you looked at your own appearance in the mirror and given you the same criticism?
DeleteGive credit where credit is due....this is one of Prince Albert's best looks. That shape hat suits him INCREDIBLY well, and I think while he was in London for the Coronation, he must have stopped off at one of their suit shops because his suits have been looking incredibly well fitted for him. The neck tie finishes the look and is pleasing to my eye.
ReplyDeleteI will admit, though, that this seems like an event that the art lovers of the family would enjoy, but was probably boring as sin for the little ones. Everyone looked to have a great time in those old-school cars! (I know I would have enjoyed them.)
Agree - PA is the best-dressed one, followed closely by Charlotte and Pierre Casiraghi
DeleteThe jacket is still too tight for his bulging stomach and trousers are still too long. So No!
DeleteTout ce que j'aime:La présence de la famille princière au complet.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte porte une jolie combinaison qui lui sied à merveille.
Nice look for Charlotte, Beatrice and Caroline. But Charlene just seems to get it wrong or she just doesn't care. This was a wonderfull event to wear a nice dress... Even with a sunhat! Charlene never seems to enjoy anything lately. She got her health back, Albert is supporting her, the children is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery nice suit Charlene is wearing, simple but elegant. Also like Stephanies all white suit and Charlottes dress very nice look for her. The children are so grown up. css
ReplyDeleteCaroline and Charlotte Casiraghi both look very good!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone looks chic enough, but from the look of it, seems to be a fun, festive outing. Charlotte wins this fashion event hands down. She looks fantastic with the stripes. Classic, chic and fun. Just lovely.

I think P Charlene's medications are causing weight gain and she appears to not be comforable with it, hence the potato sack dresses. It is a shame is a beautiful woman. Rock it Charlene, rock what you have, be the star that you are.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the comments made about the women, however the biggest surprise is how debonair Prince Albert looks. He is much more stylish at this event than any other I have seen in a while with his stylish hat! Fitzhugh
ReplyDeletePrincess Caroline gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteThe only caveat would be the deep V neckline.
The V could be a little bit higher.
Except if the Princess is exempt from the gravity problem we have with our bustline as we get older.
From the pictures I cannot see how P Alexandra and Beatrice are dressed. I just see them sitting in one of the old-timers. I do not understand the comments that are given on these two, unless some of the bloggers looked at other websites. As for the rest nobody seems to be dressed particularly good or bad. To me the children look lovely in their summer outfits. The men are dressed like the rich men in the south of France and Monaco : navy suit or blazer and a white panama hat.
DeleteI hope one day Charlene can go back to how her hair looked while she was engaged and immediately after the wedding. Her hair suited her so much better then.
ReplyDeleteT
Agree!!
DeleteNothing wrong with her hair.
DeleteStéphanie, Charlene and Camille compete who drew the worst suit out of the old clothes garbage bin.
