The night before the British King's coronation at Westminster Abbey, King Charles hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace on May 5. Members of the royal family and more than a thousand guests attended the reception held on the eve of the coronation. The coronation will take place on Saturday, May 6, at Westminster Abbey in London.
King Felipe, Queen Letizia, King Carl Gustaf, Crown Princess Victoria, Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Prince Albert, Princess Charlene, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Crown Prince Fumihito, Crown Princess Kiko, Princess Beatrix and Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia were among the guests who attended the reception at Buckingham Palace.
Very imposing group of people!! Everyone looks so good!! I am particularly impressed with G.D. Maria Teresa who really looks really good today. Wow is all I can say Wow, what a turnaround from the wedding outfit. AND I really like her hair. Everyone else looks like their typical outstanding selves. You know, polished, pressed, curled and accessorized to perfection. God Save the King!!
ReplyDeleteAs always Letizia and Mary so elegant, Victoria looks amazing in pink.
DeleteThe top on Mette-Marit's dress is kind of complex
I thought G.D. Maria Teresa was the most disappointing and the Dutch, too office like look in suits.
Charlene was there too. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr3oEfoOBru/
(Almost) Everyone looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteQLetizia: Nice dress style . Acid green and dark navy suede, nice colour combination.
ReplyDeleteCPVictoria: Dress, nice colour, not sure about the style. Nice louboutin clutch and shoes.
CPMette-Marit: Ghastly outfit.
CPAmalia: A big square of black.
CPMary: Dress, nice colour, not fan of the sleeves.
I think CP Amalia looked lovely!
DeleteReally lovely to see them all, and especially to see them interacting with King-to-be Charles. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteI like all the ladies dresses (Letizia, Mary, Victoria and Catharina Amalia's suit) except perhaps for Mette Marit's and Maria Teresa's outfit.
On a non-fashion related note, I have the utmost respect for the kitchens of Bucks House this week: First catering a garden party for 8,000 people on Wednesday, then a reception for Commonwealth, realm and dominion heads of state on Thursday, a luncheon for the King of Thailand today, now this evening reception for over 1,000 guests, and then the coronation luncheons and banquets and dinners tomorrow and on Sunday. Wow! On the other hand, I hope that there isn't a lot of food waste when so many are going hungry these days, and food insecurity is at it highest and worst levels.

I really like seeing Princess Amalia with her grandmother Princess Beatrix. How wonderful for both.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! Crown Princess Elisabeth of Belgium was there too with King Philippe, but apparently no pictures on this blog.
DeleteQueen Letizia doesn't look healthy.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks amazing and her hair is so lovely and healthy .
DeletePicture 4 shows her exceedingly thin. I hope it’s only a camera trick and not a return to some years ago when she was worryingly thin for quite a while.
DeleteI agree, so very fragile
DeleteYes, because of that she has been workiing the whole week, others are healthier sat on the sofá eating poratoes. The fat group is amazing, they even think that fat is healthy.
DeleteAll her family is like that, It is genetic, her sister and mom are very thin too, and her late sister, they never get fat,
DeleteIt never ends. If any of you had two brain cells to rub together you would know that you can't build the muscle she has without good health. She is healthy, exercises, and looks fantastic. Worry about yourself and your own unhealthy habits and stop obsessing over women than are in better shape than you are.
DeleteMy favourite here is CPVictoria - the dress is a fabulous colour and excellent fit. Another winner is CPAmalia. She looks stunning in this well tailored suit and lovely pendant. I’m so glad she’s here with her grandmother.
ReplyDeleteThe only look I don’t like is Q. Letitia’s. She’s swamped by those sleeves and the ruching makes her look even slimmer than she is. (V.M.)
There's a lot of good stuff around! My personal favourite is Victoria - the pink is so fresh and fun and the clutch/shoe combination is awesome! Mary's playing it safe, but it's a win in my book, too. Can't go wrong with red EVER and I love the sleeves. I wish she'd chosen a less conservative shoe, especially as there seems to be a turquoise ornament on her dress, but that's nitpicking.
ReplyDeleteCan't see much of Catherine's dress, but she also seems to be in the "safe" category. Don't like the oversized curls, they look so heavy with the high neck collar. Maria Teresa looks smashing! I'm not sure whether that corset top underneath is fully appropriate for the event, but I don't really care - it looks great and her necklace is exquisite.
A REALLY positive surprise is Amalia. I love her suits recently and while I hope to see some more interesting looks in the future (like adding pops of colour, some sparkly jewels from the vault, experimenting with an updo...), I like that she's taking time to grow into her role and gain her sea legs.
A very, very rare miss comes from Letizia. I can't fully put my finger on it. She doesn't look particularly bad, but the dress is oddly cut from shoulders to hem and while I love the green itself, I don't think it's her colour. Also her earrings seems to have blue stones, the bow is pearls, the bracelet diamonds and all is just a bit random in my opinion. Confused about Mette-Marit's look, too. She looks a bit like her dress didn't arrive in time and all she had within reach was an Austrian flag to wrap herself in. The colours suit her, but the cut is... odd.
-Nika-
Totally agree with you. I am not fond of Q Letizias dress either, My first objection is the uneven hem and the sleeves are too wide for her thin frame. Ladyofthemanor
DeleteBeautiful pictures . Victoria looks wonderful in pink. Beautiful color and cut. Stunning. The only miss here is Mette Marit. I can’t figure out what she is wearing.
ReplyDeleteVictoria is definitely one of the most likable royals based on her public image, but she rarely succeeds in her clothing choices. Today she is having a great day. I'd say she's the most stylish of them all. I also like Mary's outfit. -Siri
ReplyDeleteI love Victoria in that shade of pink. She looks lovely. Not quite sure what Mette Marit is wearing...
ReplyDeleteVery impressive. The Royal ladies jewelry was stunning, so some of the outfits.Letizias dress a very nice color, but the style soso. Victoria's Mary, Sudita, Jetsun Pema and some Jr Pss and other ladies looked fantastic. MM on the other hand, I am sorry looked horrible. Her necklace very nice but the outfit, she could have done better, so some of the other ladies. I do must say the PoW looked great .Now I am waiting for the Coronation, hope we see lots and lots of outstanding Tiara's. css
ReplyDeleteEveryone brought their A game. Some fantastic fashion and beauty looks. Great job!
ReplyDeleteChel
G.D. Maria Teresa looks excellent, nice outfit, love her choice of jewellery. CP Mary looks stunning, her contrast small clutch looks great. Queen Letizia looks beautiful, I like the addition of her diamond brooch, the color of her shoes and clutch were perfect, blending in well with the color of her dress.
ReplyDeletelowest scores to Mette & Charlene
ReplyDeleteMary is my favorite! The coral dress with the turquoise accents on the belt and handbag are a stunning touch. She looks perfect! Catherine’s hair is too busy for the already busy dress. I think she looks older the Mary today. Victoria is glowing in the lovely shade of pink. I’m just not a fan of the style of the dress as I think it is matronly for someone her age. I’m not a fan of the color or style of Letizia’s dress. Charlene looks like she’s wearing a beach coverup. The exposed shoulder and arm looks out of place for this event. MR
ReplyDeleteAgree completely with what you write about Charlène's and Letizia's outfits.
DeletePauline
I agree with everything you say except for Charlene's outfit. There are other, far more flattering pictures online. It is a great outfit and I personally don't think the exposed shoulder and arm are out of place.
DeleteI also love Charlene's outfit. I've seen other photos on other blogs and she looks stunning. It is a perfect outfit for her figure, style and stature.
Delete- Anon 9:13
A number of commentators in the British press pointed out the strong resemblance between CP Mary and the Princess of Wales. Like Newmyroyals posters have been doing for a long time 😀
DeleteAnnieM
The royal ladies have certainly brought their A game out tonight! Love Mary and Victoria in pink, Letizia in green (that brooch!!!), and Maria Theresa in her black cocktail suit (the best look she's had in quit some time). Disappointed in Mette-Marit (rather odd top part) and wish Charlene's top had a shorter draping part but her hair and make-up are terrific. Can't see too much of Catherine's dress but the blue is a marvelous color for her. Cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteJanet
What is so "terrific" about Charlène's hair? It's very short-cut, dyed, but not as white or dark as it used to be, a more natural colour this time. And what is so special about her make-up?
DeletePauline
They look wonderful except Charlene of Monaco that outfit is hideous. Mary
ReplyDeleteI agree. A disaster. She is the only one with bare shoulder . Completely out of place.
DeleteAgree with your comment on Charlène's outfit. It looks hideous and not appropriate for the occasion. She seems to have forgotten that Buckingham Palace is not Monte Carlo Beach! It's also unflattering. I like Victoria's dress and Amalia in her elegant pantsuit. They look good. The same is true for P. Elisabeth of Belgium (not pictured here), very elegant, dark blue dress and GD Maria Teresa does look elegant. I'm not a fan of Letizia's dress, neither of the colour nor of the cut.
DeletePauline
@Mary, maybe the outfit is not so "hideous" but surely it isn't appropriate for Palace reception.
DeleteAva
Charlene is this a suit for a reception in a rainy London? Horrible
DeleteOh! Charlene is NOT hideous, she just decided to stick to her usual attraction for, at least, one bare shoulder, which fits her very well bearing in mind her morphology. Please don't discourage her.
DeleteThere are other photos of Charlene on other blogs and channels and she looks stunning. This outfit is perfect for her height, style and stature.
Delete- Anon 9:13
Amalia dresses like a middle aged person. Maria Teresa's suit too tight in the middle and odd cuts by the feet. Mette Marit's top is strange with the red bands. Not sure about Charlene's dress, but the color is nice. Victoria, Letizia, Mary, and Catherine look very good.
ReplyDeleteAll females are dressed like Amalia from the age of 14 until past 80. Pantsuits are seen in every boutique and for every age. Of course CP Amalia's suit is probably much more expensive than what the average woman wears. That is why it has a good cut and make her look very elegant.
DeleteAmalia and Maria Teresa are my favourites, Leticia disappears in that sort of dress, the same for Charlene , Victoria and Mary look very properly styled, and l think that Mette Marit has chosen for the wrong dress to combine with the very special jacket
ReplyDeleteWhere was Q Camilla?
ReplyDeleteNot participating in this event, I read. Probably having some rest before the next day, to be so busy. And/or maybe avoiding some possible ineradicable criticism...
DeleteLetizia looks elegant and that is the only dress I like.
ReplyDeleteAva
I don't really agree with you, her dress appears so unusual for her, as far as I can see. For me "no comment" about her.
DeleteI, too, like Letizia's dress. I appreciate that she boldly wears all kinds of dress styles and all kinds of colours. She pretty much looks good in everything she wears (whether it's to our personal taste or not).
Delete- Anon 9:13
You forgot the Duchess of Brabant
ReplyDeleteYes, she was there but not the most visible ! She is really the opposite to Charlene. Her dress is too formal, too simple etc, compared with the beautiful recent pictures in Egypt. A missed opportunity for me.

Isn’t it interesting how much effort the ladies put in to preparing for these events… From the tip of the toe to the top of the head, every single detail, prepared, which can include fake tan, waxing, cosmetic injections, Spanx, hair dye, eyebrow pluck, the perfect dress, the perfect jewellery, hairspray, etc etc etc… whereas the men will tend to put on a suit and shoes they’ve had a for a while, a clean shirt, and comb their hair! I wonder how down the centuries or became the women’s role to invest so much effort in appearance? .. yet strangely as a result they are regularly far more critiqued than their partners. Must be awfully tough for some of these ladies, to have so many photos taken of them every time they’re in public, and to be analysed so. - AnnaLise
ReplyDelete@AnnaLise
DeleteYou make some good points and yep, the men get it easy IMO.
@ AnnaLise, I surely agree with you; just regret I had not yet seen your comment before commenting on Elisabeth from Belgium.
DeleteIt is because from the beginning of time, man was attracted to a woman by her appearance first. Women played the role, primping and preening, at first for men, and then over time for each other. Men, on the other hand, have had it easy. A good woman can see deeper than the outer appearance so they get away with a shower, shave and haircut, and a nice suit of clothes. Men are wash and wear.
DeleteComplete rubish?
DeleteBoth Letizia and Mette Marit choose a British designer , alas not a great succes.
ReplyDeleteVictoria in a surprising very nice pink dress.
Love also princess Elisabeth of Belgium: she mostly wears Armani and it suits her well: exquisitely simple.
Have never seen princess Amalia looking so good and selfassured! Great!
Mabel
I really agree on Mabel's last sentence : Have never seen princess Amalia looking so good and, indeed!
DeleteAh interesting : Letizia and Mette Marit choose a British designer, you say ! in this case questionable choice...
DeleteI don't agree about Elisabeth of Belgium : as a beginner in that circle, her dress is too simple IMV, nobody noticed her. On this blog we had to wait and ask, before we got a picture from her !! Not any better on other blogs.
I agree with your comment on CP Elisabeth of Belgium. She is too young to wear such a somber color. She isn't at a funeral but on a reception for a happy event. She could at least have paired her very formal navy dress with accessories in silver like her clutch. A silver belt and silver court shoes would fresh the whole look up. Beautiful earrings, hair and make-up are lovely and soft.
DeleteThere are pictures of her and her father talking to Catherine Princess of Wales. I saw her first on Belgian and Dutch websites.
Charlène n’est pas habillée pour un simple dîner en ville , entre amis . Elle le saurait si elle fréquentait ses collègues royaux .
ReplyDeletePrincess of Wales
ReplyDeleteThe blue dress is dignified and befitting the host. The earrings, clutch bag, and back strap decoration on the shoes are a perfect match.
Queen Letizia.
Stunning. I love the sleeves. The brooch is perfect for a feminine dress.
Crown Princess Victoria
She is my favorite of the day. The pink dress is well-tailored. Her hairstyle is good, and the necklace is also stunning.
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa
She looks fantastic in the trouser suit, dressed feminine. Her hairstyle is also good. The green bag matches the emerald on her necklace.
Princess Charlene.
Exposed shoulder and open-toed shoes seem inappropriate for the occasion. I admired the draped hem, which was amazingly beautiful.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
I am a bit confused. But I guess the elaborate dress is a way of respecting the British Royal Family. I like they are holding hands. It always makes me smile when I see them.
Crown Princess Mary
Fabulous as always. The waist belt ornament and clutch bag look great on a pink dress. The beige pumps also help to highlight the bag and the dress.
Crown Princess Kiko
The lace dress is lovely. The bag and probably the shoes are also custom-made in the same fabric. It shows respect for the British Royal Family. It is hard to believe she is 56 years old. Beautiful skin, keeping in shape, parenting three children, and busy official duties, I respect all.
Princess Beatrix and Crown Princess Amalia
Lovely photo of Amalia looking happy with her grandmother. The pantsuit looks good on her. So cool.
Crown Princess Elisabeth of Belgium is good. The two future queens in their modest dresses are beautiful.
Although not royal, Jill Biden's floral dress is lovely but looks a little downgraded on this occasion. The First Lady of Ukraine wears a black dress with a flower-shaped brooch. It would have meant a lot.
All the other guests were fabulous. Good to see so many future kings from different countries meet for goodwill. I wish peace to the world.
@Anon 09:27
DeleteThanks for your detailed comments.
Agree with most of them but I fully agree to your comment about countries meeting for goodwill. A good step for peace in the world.
I agreed with the comments about the floral dress of USA First Lady, M’s Biden. Very downgraded, for the ocasión. Besides, she looks shorter, and overweight. That floral dress will be appreciated for a picnic. Please, quit the florals. She
DeleteLooks, so insignificant.
Thank you for reading and replying to my long comment.
Delete@ Anonymous. I do not agree with your comments on Mrs Jill Biden. Although I do not like her dress on this occasion, I think a lot of older women would be happy to look like her. She looked very elegant and not overweight at all in her blue ensemble during the coronation.
DeleteWhat do you mean with "good for the peace in the world"? All these persons are not relevant in politics and have no power at all
DeleteI am Anon 6/5/23 09:27. Thank you for your reply.
DeleteI understood that Anon 07:43 was a reply to Anon 00:26.
I like Mrs. Jill Biden's blue dress too. It was so elegant.
Dear Anon 20:04.
DeleteI do not believe that peace comes from only political power.
I have respect and hope for their influence.
For example, King Charles has been steadily working on environmental issues for a long time. Prince William and Princess Catherine have been working for mental health. Princess Kiko and P. Kako would have influenced more and more people to learn sign language. Queen Mathilde is a specialist in speech therapy. Her multilingualism will help to bridge different cultures. The same is true of many of the world's royal families.
The next generation of royalty will grow up under the influence of them. I believe they will also have a positive power over the people. That's why I am their fan. Of course, I love their fashion. It was a long comment, so I expressed it in one short sentence, but that's what I meant. I didn't use enough words.
Thank you for your reply.
PAmalia has a dark blue suit. She looks first class in presenting the Dutch People.
ReplyDeleteWith CPElisabeth, representing the Belgians, best dressed and not forgetting CPMary, representing the Danish People, still not giving up hard to "fit" in.
PCharlene is beautiful and makes a grand entree, representing the Monegasque People, I love the waterfall lace ruffle adding a nice flowing feeling. QLetizia looks also great in this color, I can be wrong but looks like she lost some weight ( she does a good job in representing the Spanish People.
-Anna-
Letizia is very, very elegant. Very thin for my taste but elegant as always. The brooch and earrings ( a new pair of safires) are a dream.
ReplyDeleteVik very elegant but the dress is not well-fited. She is thinner and the dress doesn’t make tribute to her figure.
Mary well done, gd maria Teresa also.
Mette and charlene: a big no.
ReplyDeleteI much liked CP Mary, CP Victoria and The Duchess of Brabant. Also, The Princess of Wales looked good. I think that, within her own realm, CP Kiko also is well dressed. In my neutral zone fall Queen Letizia and The Princess of Orange. More on the negative side I see CP Mette-Marit, The GD of Luxemburg (yet again), and (has she mistaken this invitation with a Côte d'Azur cocktail event?) Princesse Charlène.
ReplyDeleteIn Belgium the Duchess of Brabant is never used for Crown Princess Elisabeth. At least not in the media. I think many Belgians don't even know she that title. Her father King Philippe was never called Duke of Brabant either, although he has that title too of course. Everybody called him Crown Prince Philippe.
DeleteThe Good - CP Mary, CP Elizabeth of Belgium and the Princess of Wales
ReplyDeleteThe Bad - CP Mette-Marit
The Ugly - Princess Charlene
A very pleasant surprise from CP Victoria as she has dropped her usual gym bun and wearing this vibrant pink dress that really suits her. I really feel concerned seeing Queen Letizia getting even slimmer. Her dress is not a good choice as it brings out her worryingly skinny frame. And then the poor Crown Prince of Denmark. These horrible trousers that are too long for him, he looks very ungroomed. Especially when compared to the always immaculate King of Sweden, probably the best dressed male Royal after Prince Philip passed away.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The king of Sweden was flawless. Henri of Luxembourg as well.
