On May 8, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands received the President of Kenya, William Ruto and his wife Rachel Ruto, at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague. In her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, Queen Maxima spoke with the President's wife, Rachel Ruto, on financial inclusion and women's empowerment.

I like the fit and colour of Q. Maxima’s dress, but surely the heavy boots aren’t needed in May? (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteThe boots fit perfectly with the dress ! by the way, present weather conditions are not the best ones for May in this part of Europe.
DeleteOh yes, we need them now with cold wind and rain!! Ellen
DeleteSurely it can rain, blow a hurricane or even snow but they are indoors. Definitely not needed indoors. Dress is lovely and would look great with brown courts

Superbe robe chemisier imprimée de la première dame dans un style rafraîchissant , elle a vraiment ma préférence avec des chaussures originales que je crois voir de la même couleur que la ceinture !
ReplyDeleteThe print of the Queen Maxima's dress is eye-catching and not necessarily in a good way. The print is dizzying. According to the model, it appears to tie in front but that is not evident in the photos. The boots look good with the dress. Her hair is very well done. I know she is wearing earrings, but I can see them well enough to comment.
ReplyDeleteOh no… why the boots? How cold can it be in their palace in the month of May?
ReplyDeleteWell, to everyone's annoyance it rains here and it rains day after day ... on the other hand, it's good for nature!
DeleteMaybe with this maxi dress she prefers to wear boots.
DeleteBoots in May!? Surely it is no longer winter in The Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteLadyofthemanor
Winter's officially over in The Netherlands as well, but, to everyone's annoyance it rains here and it rains day after day ... on the other hand, it's good for nature!

DeleteIt is cold for the time this year! Ellen
DeleteBoots, not in May, and the print makes me dizzy. Pity, it could have been a good look with a different fabric, and shoes, not boots.
ReplyDeleteNow that my friends is a dress for a bold person, no doubt!! Maximally BOLD. Swirling and churning and jumping right out at ya!! And to pair it with Cossack boots, well you got yourself a NO NONSENSE ensemble!! She must be in a certain mood today. I bet the King behaves himself today!!
ReplyDeleteThe print is gorgeous, but for a dress the mustered yellow is too much dominating for a blond woman, and not flattering.
ReplyDeleteThe neckline is also not good for M.
I cannot say what this potentially good dress needs.
Mabel
The boots! No!
ReplyDeleteNot a bad look as such, but not suited for the season, the occasion or the location.
ReplyDeleteNot my style of dress, maybe it would look better with heels? css
ReplyDeleteIts obviously cold hence the boots. This dress suits the Queen, she looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe dress might have worked but those boots!!! It might be a cold day in the Netherlands but they are inside. Not only are the couples inside but the Kenyan First Lady is wearing regular shoes, what appears to be a poplin dress, and her sleeves are elbow length--had it been cold inside I don't she would look so comfortable. Sorry but this look is fashion fail for me because the boots are totally wrong for the dress.
