At the invitation of King Willem-Alexander, President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife Brigitte Macron are making a state visit to the Netherlands on 11 and 12 April 2023. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima officially welcomed President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron on Dam Square in Amsterdam. Queen Maxima's outfit is from the fashion house Natan.

The coat is no good on Max, and the turban is not any better. - Ellie
ReplyDeleteI agree, a bathrobe (in an unflattering color) with a turban. But atleast her hair is under control, lol.
DeleteChel
Maxima's coat suits her quite well.
DeleteI like Maxima's outfit, good colour, hat, clutch and shoes well coordinated, the shoes could be a shade darker (as Tulipe has already stated).

As it is still cold and sometimes wet in the Benelux one cannot wear light summer clothes. I think the two ladies are dressed well according the circumstances. QM is wearing summery colors to make a change with her winter outfits.
ReplyDeleteThis might be not everybody's cup of tea, but I LOVE this outfit on Maxima. I'm a sucker for those turban/wrap style hats & she wears them so well. The colours look great together & while she is visible to everyone, the shades are muted enough to leave room for the guests. The only minor quibble is that the queen appears to be wearing gloves & I wish she'd stop that habit, especially when the visitors aren't wearing any.
ReplyDeleteMme Macron looks elegant as ever & I'm looking forward to seeing her in more formal/evening wear!

I also kind of like it, Mme Macron looks a bit like the KLM fly attendants of the 70s in a nice way!

@maxima: A REAL (ROYAL) Queen does not bow down fore others; Coat and turban are not any better!!! Nevertheless, nice to see the KING again!!!
ReplyDeleteMaxima did not bow, she just bended a little bit forward for a greeting..Brigitte is petit.
DeleteI agree with you Iris. Besides queens nowadays (even noble like queen Mathilde) are not like that anymore. They are friendly and they bend over to greet and embrace people that are little like children and in this case Mrs Macron who is a little lady herself.
Delete@Nika. With the weather we have actually I still wear gloves too. Since I have painful articulations and muscles due to age, my MD advices me to keep my hands, neck and shoulders warm. Since I'm trying not to forget that, I must say my muscles, shoulders, neck, wrists and fingers are less painful. But there are also younger people than me who suffer. Ex volley-ball players f.ex. who feel the same pain. So do not judge someone because he or she is wearing gloves even in Spring.
ReplyDeleteMaxima has her trusty leather and suede gloves with her year round. I do understand what you are saying about needing them for health issues, however.
DeleteI see where you're coming from & as someone with a chronic illness myself, I hear you. But Maxima is known for wearing leather gloves in the middle of summer while visiting a high school. I think it's more a fashion statement with her & I'm just not overly fond of it, especially when greeting guests or meeting with commoners - it always feels distanced somehow.

Gloves are a mandatory accessory for formal occasions especially when wearing a hat. This time However I do not see QM wearing them.
ReplyDeleteShe's wearing crochet gloves which is slightly weird in combination with a winter coat. I also feel that there's something wrong with the fit of the coat and I don't like the turban, a small pillbox would have been much better.
DeleteThe outfit, hat, coat, shoes are terrible color and look sloppy on Q Maxima. Edwina
ReplyDeleteI agree. QM’s coat looks like a bathrobe and the turban like something one would wear in the 70’s for a swim. Nice earrings and hairdo. Mrs Macron is wearing a nice dress, but it’s a type of dress she’s always wearing. And I don’t like her hear. Just too big and not a nice cut.
DeleteI agree, too.
DeleteTo Edwina and others. What is so "sloppy" about Maxima's bag, hat or clutch?? NOTHING! The coat may be a cashmere material, very fine and soft - it would be a pity to style it like B. Macron's coat.
DeleteMme Macron prefers that military-style look - it's not always good on her, in this case, it emphasises the shoulder part too much and together with her shoulder-length hair, it doesn't look flattering.
Pauline
Hate the hat, nice colours km
ReplyDeleteToo much yellow in Maxima´s voluminous coat. I like the color combo of the dress and turban. My mother used to wear turbans like that when her hair was off. Madame Macron looks very nice and elegant.
ReplyDeleteLadyofthemanor
Together, the ladies show the colours of the ukraine...
ReplyDeleteWhile I prefer Mme Macron's more tailored look what I really appreciate is how nicely the colors chosen be each compliments what the other is wearing
ReplyDeleteI think the Queen looks wonderful. Her coat is bright and cheery, and her turban is tidy and coordinates well with the coat. The colorful little brooch is a nice touch too. Madame Macron looks very nice in her well tailored coat and dress. I look forward to their next appearance.
ReplyDeleteÀ turban isnot something that enhances Maximas beauty, and this time the colours are awfull too.
ReplyDeleteThe belt makes the coat too informal.
Mrs Macron wears a coat in a good colour with a beautiful backside.

I’m going against the tide, buy I really like Maxima’s outfit: coat, turban and accessories . I also like Brigitte Macron’s outfit. Judy
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree. I like both ladies outfits very much.

I love Queen Maxima's outfit, she looks stylish and elegant, very chic. Brigitte's outfit is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNot the best look for Q Maxima, the coat looks more like a robe. The French First Lady Mrs Macron looks like she stepped out of Vogue Magazine, very nice and elegant. css
ReplyDeleteI disagree on QM
DeleteI do not like Máxima 's outfit at all. The yellow colour does not become her at all. The coat makes a messy impression.Madame Macron looks top in her super beautiful taylored outfit. Very French.
ReplyDeleteI love Maxima’s coat, shoes, clutch and hat. She looks beautiful and very elegant.
ReplyDeleteAna
I happen to like Maxima's outfit--the colors are complementary so look good together and both the blue and yellow are good colors for the queen. Could the coat be a bit more tailored? Yes, the coat looks a baggy on her or too fabric--not sure which. As for her turban, while I am not personally a fan, I think it is OK. Mme Macron looks quite chic and the color is marvelous on her.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Love both ladies' looks - I like how the patches of blue in the Queen's accessories match Mme Macron's outfit. Purely coincidental, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteAnother Natan, that looks like a bathrobe. And that turban! a big fail for me. Mme Macron looks good.
