On April 18, Queen Maxima visited Dutch designers who are exhibiting their work at Milan Design Week in Milan, Italy. The Netherlands has always been among the most prominent participants in Milan Design Week. Queen Maxima’s visit to Milan followed an earlier meeting with designers during her visit to Eindhoven on 16 February.
Queen Maxima’s visit to Milan began in the city’s Isola neighbourhood, where she toured the innovative urban park designed by Dutch landscape architect Petra Blaisse.
The Queen then visited the exhibition ‘Masterly, the Dutch in Milano’ held at the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti, where, for the seventh time, curator Nicole Uniquole has brought together the collections of more than 70 Dutch interior designers and design companies.
I don´t like the coat. Looks strange! I usually love Maximas Style!
ReplyDeleteI don´t like the coat. It looks strange. I usually love Maxima´s Style.
ReplyDeleteAgree. My first impression was: "Oh, how horrible." This is a very "special" coat. Not everybody can wear it - but Maxima can do it. It "emphasizes" Dutch design as she was visiting a Dutch design project in Milano. The trousers are just horrible imv.
DeletePauline
The coat??. No, no, no.....
ReplyDeleteAgree. Horrendous. Curtain gone wild.
DeleteI assume she's wearing this outfit as a bet! Dressing gown and pyjamas was my first thought till I saw the holes in the coat....
DeleteHair is good though and I can see that Fashion week is a chance to wear something outlandish
I absolutly love this Outfit. Maxima the fashion Queen
ReplyDeleteEverything about this is wrong. The coat, the length of the trousers
ReplyDeleteReally ?
DeleteHow nice (huge eye roll) she has thick hair and its curly (maybe a wig). The coat and that awful pant suit with the clown pants making a second appearance, or is this another new outfit, with that ghastly coat, one cannot tell. Maybe she is having a 'I am feeling fat day'. G & C
ReplyDeleteHere we go again…. As soon as Maxima makes an appearance the mean comments start dropping in. I think that most of us agree that this is not The best look for Maxima , but there are different ways of saying this. Me personally I prefer a million times Maxima s look to plain and boring Armani suites, with no personality.
DeleteAs long as it stays within a club of designers, yes ok. Don't wish to see it elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteYes. It does (quite) well for the designer/fashion week theme, but otherwise needs either re-modelling or should get no outing at official engagements apart from high fashion themed events.
Delete😱 … oh no no no to this coat !
ReplyDeleteOh yes, want to see more of Dutch Fashion instead of Belgium Natan
DeleteAnon 19.44 as long it’s not made of showercurtains.
DeleteOmg, sometimes clothes should stay on the catwalk and never get into people’s closets. The whole look is dreadful. It looks like someone went mad with a whole punch. The only positive thing is the colour of trousers and top. Km
ReplyDeleteI have the same opinion with lady in purple from 2nd pic.
ReplyDeleteThere are no words for this. Who is providing and advising her on styles? And why is she agreeing on wearing them.
ReplyDeleteThis coat is by the far worst she’s ever had, and the trousers might be nice on their own, but here they just add to the disaster.

Agree
Deletemy saying, agree 100%
DeleteThe coat is hideous. She did look comfortable wearing it. I don't think the rich and famous care what anyone thinks.
DeleteAlthough I would never buy nor wear this myself, this definitely can be considered a fashion statement in a design week
ReplyDeleteExactly. Maxima's intention here is to promote a Dutch designer (whom she often favours and wears his other designs a lot) during an international design week. It is far less to do with her personal choice of this particular outfit.
Delete- Anon 9:13
Exactly, she looks great
DeleteWow, Maxima is looking fantastic! What a good look: very original coat, wonderful hair and make-up, great colours and trousers underneath. I love it when she goes bold!
ReplyDeleteI agree, she looks wonderful! Love that she supports country’s designers. MR
DeleteAgree
DeleteWhen you go to the famous designer show in Milano you have to wear a kind of extraordinary clothing. And leave that to QM. It sure is a remarkable ensemble. Very fashionable: oversized/trenchcoat. But for me it's all too busy with all those holes with golden rings surrounding them. Claes Yversen has done better in the past for QM.
ReplyDeleteGuess the Italians have a good laugh !
DeleteOH DEAR! WHATS HAPPENING HERE !!!
ReplyDelete... totally agree ... hurts my eyes ...
DeleteUgly, ugly, very ugly outfit for a City of Fashion like MILANO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteAwful. - Ellie
ReplyDeleteMalgré l'originalité de ce manteau, je n'arrive pas à donner un avis positif !
ReplyDeleteHorrible.
ReplyDeleteAgree 100%
DeleteEither you love it or you hate it: I cannot decide for myself which.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely shows courage ( which we already knew)and which this time I appreciate. Maybe because of the thick loose hair complimenting the overall impression so good.
Claes Iversen, by the way, I donot think is a fashion designer at all.
He just sticks metal rings and things on coats and dresses and there you go.
Mabel
Holes for mice. What a coat!
ReplyDeleteAfschuwelijk
DeleteI thought that coats were to keep you warm or keep you dry! Maybe we should call it the Anti-Coat so we know what it will not do. That said I do think she looks very attractive in it and lets face it if putting Dutch Design on the map was the idea she has certainly achieved just that. Look at all our comments about it. She also has huge bands on the bottom of her trousers, a new Dutc Design invention to help sweep the streets while you are travelling on foot. We must do something here in the Netherlands to combat the huge labiur shortage we have here.
ReplyDeleteThe sleeves are way too long. And the coat doesn’t fit right in the shoulders. Doesn’t she have access to the best tailors? Her pants are too long as well. Even if they did fit properly, that coat is horrible. At least her hair looks washed today. Where is the Maxima who wore bold but perfectly tailored clothes with perfectly chosen jewels? Where has she gone??
ReplyDeleteShe never wears perfectly tailored clothes…. Everything is always tight, too short, too wrinkled, or just ill fitting in general.
DeleteTiger Lily
way too much fabric in both coat and pants. Ladyofthemanor
DeleteI love that coat! Not for every one, but perfect for Maxima. And the rest looks good too. She definetly isn't a grey mouse.
ReplyDeleteNo one could ever accuse Maxima of not pushing fashion boundaries. But, this coat should be relegated to the back of the closet, never tone seen again! Same with the extra wide fitting trousers. The color is lovely, the style is not flattering at all. Bea
ReplyDeleteKudos to Maxima.
ReplyDeleteShe stands by what she believes in, and promotes Dutch designers during an international design week. It's not just about personal choice this time. And she still looks good.
- Anon 9:13
Thats why we love her
DeleteMaybe she could have done with a good outfit. I don’t think this is something Dutch design or fashion do any good.
DeleteRidiculous coat, should indeed stay o the catwalk !!
ReplyDeleteAgree, much more than ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteWho wears a coat that's full of big holes ringed with grommets. I suppose for a "different" look it might have worked with something sleeker underneath; but the blue pants are too wide & way too long & have huge cuffs to boot. Her hair looks better, perhaps a volumizer or she just washed it or it's humid in Milano. I'm a fan of loose, comfy clothing; but this whole outfit is off my radar. |Melanie|
ReplyDeleteThat coat seems to have missed the point of being a coat, with some problems anticipated if it rains or is cold! But this is a comment about design which doesn’t coincide with my practical fashion preferences and not about Max who always looks fabulous and joyful, even when supporting the designers with some radical experiments! - AnnaLise
ReplyDeleteThe oversized coat doesn’t look good on anyone. Palazzo trousers do not suit Maxima.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this coat. So different and so much fun. It is magnificent. I agree to the pants butting a bit wide. Sleek pants would hair been better. But color and movement of the design just great
ReplyDeleteI think, you nailed it, it is so much fun! e.
DeleteWell, it's different isn't it 😮
ReplyDeleteI'll phone in later when I find something politically correct to say🤔
😂
DeleteCappotto brutto, ma almeno i suoi capelli oggi sono magnifici.
ReplyDeleteRossella
MILANO - città della moda, del design!!! MAXIMA non sa niente di Milano:)
DeleteShe looks like a fashion victim. She does NOT look like a Queen.
DeleteOmg🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️Horrible coat
ReplyDeleteAgree 200%
DeleteMAXIMA is the reason why I never will read anymore stories about the Netherland KUNGAHUSED
DeleteThis coat, by all means, is not elegant.
ReplyDeleteShe has an evening dress with the same kind of holes from the same designer Claes Iversen. I wonder if she has an agreement with Claes to wear this in Milano ?
ReplyDeleteFashion week whether it is in Milano, London or New York is always something special where one can see the most extravagant clothes.
This outfit is all about Dutch design, just read the introduction, of course she wants to promote Claes Iversen, which I find perfectly logical. She might think it is awful too, who knows………🌞 Virginia
ReplyDeleteIt’s Dutch. Not really tasteful.
DeleteThis coat is trying too hard. Nice turquoise color.
ReplyDeleteMrs Cleaver
Is this Designer Week going to finish soon?
ReplyDeleteHorrible for Queen to dress in such bizarre, ugly outfit even though it is a fashion event. What she wore says, DO NOT follow me, this what NOT to wear. judy
ReplyDeleteAmazing look. Thank you Máxima for supporting and promoting Dutch fashion design. But even more for setting an example of confidence, courage and creativity.
ReplyDeleteExactly that!
DeleteBut wait a minute. Could Queen Max have got the wrong memo.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she got the memo that said "Fancy Dress".
Eh bien moi j'aime beaucoup mais bien sûr, il faut être grande comme Maxima et avoir son allure, bande de jalouses !!!
ReplyDeleteWhat in the fresh h**l? From the racoon eyes, to the coat to the bell bottoms. Everything is a no. However, she managed to comb her hair, LOL
ReplyDeleteChel
She never misses an opportunity to stand up, regardless of how it looks. She's is not doing any favours to the Iversen brand. She looks clownish.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, i thought that Mary's outfit was a miss, well then what's this? A disaster.
ReplyDeleteBut hair for once (ok, few other times) looks nice!
Luna
Perfect! What a queen!
ReplyDeleteCarnaval is over, no ?
DeleteShe looks fabulous, her hair, makeup. In saying that I don't like this coat at all. It appears too big for her, looking at the sleeves, the design is a miss for me. Her pants seem a little too long, but she has the panache to pull this off and she does, well done to the Queen.
ReplyDeleteReally Maxima? This is a terrible look for her today. This coat and the pants is way too long. This is a bad look for. today's event. css
ReplyDeleteUnbelievably ugly outfit whether it is coat or pants.
ReplyDeleteAva
Sorry but this look is disastrous--the coat is dreadful and it looks like she's wearing the too-wide-legged trousers from the blue suit she wore recently. I understand the concept of flying the flag for your nation's designers but this is an awful example for Dutch design. Let's hope Maxima reverts back to fashion over fad-shion during her visit.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Maxima doing what she does best, look fabulous while wearing something most people hate. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI just love her. She's never boring!
Horrendous outfit from the fake thick hair, to the bottom of the extremely wide pants and everything in between.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I am very fond of this outfit. But, I admire Queen Maxima for making a bold choice and statement. On that note, she never disappoints!
ReplyDeleteI hope they managed to catch all the bugs who chewed holes in her coat! What was Maxima thinking when she put on this horrible peek-through coat I do not know. At least her hair look good for a change!
ReplyDeleteKaarin
I mean, you can clearly see that this is a fashion statement for a designer event and not an everyday coat she'd take on a state visit. Is it my personal taste? No. Does she still pull it off fantastically? Yes! I'm surprised, but this is working well for Maxima, especially because her styling (hair, makeup etc.) is on point. And let's face it, if any of the current royals could own that thing, it's her! Now I hope it gets a long rest in some dark corner of her wardrobe, but for the time it's been out - well played!
ReplyDelete-Nika-
I agree.
DeleteI don't like the outfit and I will leave it at that. However her hair looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteT
Perfect! What a queen!
