The teal colour suits her. But the trousers, no. Terrible cut. Pic 2 almost looks clownish. Amy

This is a high-level financial summit; they discuss money issues, in which the King has no expertise. Why should he be there, he's attending to his own matters. I love the color of Mรกxima's suit but not the baggy pants. |Melanie|

Beautiful color — one we don’t often see on Maxima — but the cut of the pants is terribly unflattering. — Jane

I really like Maxima in this suit until I saw the 2nd photo--the trousers are ghastly! The color is beautiful on her and she's looking marvelous--perfect makeup and her hair is looking good too. Also like the earrings. I cannot wait for the wide trouser leg trend to end!

I thought exactly the same: looking fabulous, until I saw the 2nd picture. Maybe it's an unfortunate angle (let's hope so, it's a pantsuit with a great colour).

Sulla modella i pantaloni rendono meglio, sembrano meno larghi di gamba. Probabile sia il modello della giacca che non dona a tutto l'outfit.

Photo number 4, the suit makes her look like she's put on a great deal of weight. Though the color is nice, and her hair has seen a hair brush, the overall look is not a good one. Sylvi

I love the Queen's power suit, strong and interesting color, with coordinating blouse. Even the earrings have a coordinated look, with just a tad of whimsical to stand out. I would have shortened the pants about 3/4 inch to keep from puckering at the ankle. However, I would have used a very good conditioner on my hair and perhaps a good trim before a trip to Washington. I worked in that city for many years and classic business suits ruled.

The jacket is nice. But the trousers? A bit too "gererous", too big. Good colours for Maxima. As always, she looks optimistic and smiling, friendly and sure of herself.

The first photo looks wonderful, but after that...it's those wide pants once more. They look better on a tall person like Maxima than on a shorter person, but I still can't wait for this fad to be over.
However the double-breasted blazer and its colour, and that of the blouse, are lovely. Not colours that Maxima often wears, which makes me appreciate them on her more.

Beautiful colors, perfect color combo the suite and the shirt, together with the earrings, Queen Maxima looks beautiful. Then the second picture… maybe it is just an unfortunate angle, but the suite looks very voluminous, It makes Maxima look huge, which she surely isn’t, maybe she should have kept the jacket buttoned like on the model.

  15. Maxima, the "working girl" look.
Just a bit off topic but an occasion to note that two iconic British fashion designers have died within the last six months.
Dame Mary Quant (aged 93) died April 2023. She was the pioneer of the mini-skirt.
Vivienne Westwood (81 years), died December 2022. She was the forerunner of the punk era and the “Mini-Crini”
Both have left an impressive mark in the international fashion world.
May they both rest in peace and may the British fashion designers continue with their original and off beat attitude to fashion.

The wide trousers only work with a tight closed jacket: see how nice the jacket is on the modelpictures.
ร€ double breasted blazer should by the way always be worn closed.
It is a pity, because the colour is nice and she has washed her hair, so the overall impression could be good.

Designers get lots of publicity through Royalty wearing their clothes. I would think that they should make sure that the clothes really fit the lady's.

  21. I like most it as well. For myself, I can only add my voice to criticism about the design of the trousers. I am however aware that many designers want to break away from traditional trousers. They are trying hard but success is difficult to reach...

Queen Maxima looks very good in that suit. I like the colour but not the cut, the pants are too wide, in fact I can't wait for this fashion to disappear. Wide pants are suitable for models that are tall and thin.
Ii think it's time to stop commenting on Q Maxima's hair. I have very fine hair and it's not easy to style it.

what makes you think her hair is fine? It's in an oddly cut manner, which makes it look that way, and for you to tell others how to, or how not to comment is rather rude. She has the resources for all those clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry, but not a good stylist, or hair dresser, her hair looks beautiful on special occasions. BTW, you think she looks good in that suit? Check out the 2nd photo. She looks wider than I've ever seen her, with those pants.

I also think it’s time to stop criticising Maxima’s hair. If we criticise fashion (inanimate objects!) it’s quite different from criticising the person. To the person who’s commented above, no, it is not rude to remind others to be kind. It’s a public blog, so let’s be kind and remember that anyone may read the comments including the ladies whose pictures are shown here, and their children. - Prue

    3. I think as well it would be better to stop criticizing her hair. This heavily layered hair styling is her choice. None of the bloggers would accept criticism from others about styling choices, if it were at all possible.

I tend to agree with the post that her hair looks bad most of the time, when she out does herself in all other areas, hair is also up for grabs on comments.

  23. What could have been a total winner is instead a total tailoring disaster. Even on the model the sleeves are pulling and puckering, on Maxima it looks like she slept in her suit. What a pity because the colours are so subtle and refreshing for a change they really suit her, the earings just right and her hair and make up match her loverly smile.

  25. Aside from the colour, I like nothing of that look. It seems a throwback to the Eighties, where huge front-pleated trousers had been just the thing. Perhaps we see a trend here, as Queen Letizia stepped out in a flower-patterned dress this week, too, that was strongly reminiscent of that era forty years ago.

She must have tried this expensive designer suit on,before agreeing to purchase it! Maybe the mirrors in her closet defy reality! I can’t think of another reason,as to why Maxima would think the trouser are anything but unflattering. Bea

First photo is lovely, the colour is not something she usually wears, allows her beauty to shine. Second photo, OMG, the entire outfit is ruined by the pants. Make her look as if she is over weight. I know its the illusion the wide pants give, but really, doesn't she have a full length mirror? I see she found her hair brush, good for her, we knew you could if you looked hard enough. lol... ... G & C
