Today is April 16 and Queen Margrethe celebrates her 83rd birthday. On April 16, the Royal Family, that is, The Queen, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, Princess Josephine, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie, Prince Henrik, Princess Athena, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix greeted people from the balcony of Christian IX Palace in connection with 83rd birthday of the Queen.

ReplyDeleteLovely. Q. Margarethe looks good, healthy and well dressed. I like Marie's Armani pantsuit. Nice colour. Christian has put on too much weight im view.
ReplyDeletePauline
Please do not judge other peoples weight, this is personal and could hurt.
DeleteDo you really think it is Okay to comment on the weight of a teenager? Wow.
DeletePrince Christian isn't overweight, he has a large build, much larger than either of his parents. I reckon Christian has inherited his paternal grandfather's height and build. He may not grow to be quite as tall as King Frederik IX but I reckon he will come close.
DeleteI recall being surprised when Prince Christians confirmation photos were released, he had grown and changed so much, not just his height but even his facial features.
The Crown Prince & Princess certainly have a beautiful family.
Nice pictures of the whole family, Qn Marrgrethe must be pleased to be able to celebrate the event standing on her feet. I would be so pleased to have the Marie's lovely pink suit and the others as well by the way.
ReplyDeleteAs in Spain so nice that mother and daugther are swapping clothes; I mean the green pant suit. After all, there is no label which says so, but how could it not be the case.
I love Marie’s pink pantsuit. It’s a lovely colour for her, and very well tailored for her petite figure. (V.M.)
-Dorothe-
ReplyDeleteWell, the four children of Prince Joachim are no longer called "prince/princess" but "count/countess". So, this would be Their Excellencies, Count Nikolai of Monpezat, Count Felix of Monpezat, Count Henrik of Monpezat and Countess Athena of Monpezat.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Queen Margrethe in a Chanel suit, something new and different. She has worn the same suits, dresses and gowns for years!! Fitzhugh
ReplyDeleteYou are quite right. But I think, fashion is not what interests her. And I am sure there are enough Danish designers, young and modern, who could advise her.
DeletePauline
I like that blue on the Queen. But Marie is the winner here for me, she looks fantastic in that pink suit love Joachim's coordinating tie). And Nikolai in his brown, handsome. All the kids look great.

Happy Birthday to the only reigning queen regent in Europe at the moment.
ReplyDeleteHowever, in the waiting line, I think there are four young princesses ready to take on their responsibilities.
Fashion? All seems to be in harmony with the occasion.
The Queen looks lovely in her blue ensemble.
Princess Marie stands out in the crowd with the Armina pantsuit.
Nice to see the family united for this occasion.
What a great present for the Queen.
@Deadeggs. ....."the queen regent" ? She IS the queen of Denmark and she will stay the queen until she passes away (or until there would be an abdication) . After her it will be her son CP Frederik. With him they will have a king again in Denmark.
DeleteDeadeggs it’s 5 young princesses Netherland Belgium Denmark Spain and Sweden!!
DeleteI believe deadeggs meant the only Queen Regnant in Europe at the moment. And to Anon5:49. No. Denmark will have Frederik and after him Christian. It's currently four countries in Europe with future queen regnants: Sweden, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain. The UK, Norway, Denmark and Luxemburg will get male monarchs/head of state. As does Liechtenstein.
DeleteThanks DSC. for pointing out my mix up. I think it's time for me to mix a bit more tonic water with my gin/s🤩

ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, they all look so fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI wish they could have found a bigger balcony, they all are too close together. They are all nicely dressed and smiley.
ReplyDeleteThe queen looks like she is not in a hurry to "retire" .
A very happy 83rd Birthday to HM. She looks wonderful and rested if I may say so.So nice to see all members of the family there with big smiles on their faces. They must be relieved, the Surgery went well, and she is on the road to recovery. The outfits were nice some had been seen before, that again does not matter. Family does. css
ReplyDeleteDear Fitzhugh, The Danish royal family is not very wealthy. I think the queen is setting a very good example by rewearing her garments and old furs. Fast fashion etc. is a very serious environmental problem. However, I fully understand your point, it is a wish. When you compare the queen’s approach with that of Queen Rania, who wears a new garment every time we see her, I prefer the wise decisions of the Danish monarch. Furthermore, she is over eighty and probably
ReplyDeletenot terribly interested in new clothes. You could of course write her a letter, I know that she is very proud but also casual.
🌞 Virginia
When my mum got old, she was always well dressed with her old favourites and seemed to lose all interest in fashion.
Delete@Virginia, do you write a letter each time you post a comment. Why all of a sudden should I have to write a letter. You write a letter, I do not care to write a letter! Fitzhugh
DeleteHow lovely to see the Queen back on her feet and to see the whole family on the balcony with her. Princess Isabella looks prettier than when we last saw her and suits the green blazer. Prince/Count Nikolai is as good looking as ever. Prince Christian looks like a much older person, but Prince Vincent is still my favourite
ReplyDeleteAnnieM
Happy Birthday to HM!!! How wonderful to see her up, out, and enjoying her special day with her sons and their families. The light blue is a beautiful color for her. Mary looks beautiful--and I like that her darker suit allows HM to stand out in the crowd on the balcony. Looks like Isabella might have been shopping in her mom's closet again--I think her green jacket (which looks wonderful on her) might be one her mother has worn several times this year. Josephine looks quite pretty in her green and navy choices. Marie looks lovely in her pink suit--great color for her and perfect for spring. Athena looks so grown up suddenly and is her mother's mini-me.
ReplyDeleteJanet
I think Josephine's dress is the same we've seen Isabella wear before. A nice look for both of them! I hate the pink color of Marie's pantsuit, it looks like pj's to me although I'd love this pantsuit in another color. /Grace
DeleteTo those "politically correct" posts (Sandra and others): Censorship is NOT your business. Facts can be mentioned!! I am not talking to Christian in person!! I am writing about my impression. By the way: All those negative judgements on for
ReplyDeleteexample ,the 79-year-old Q. Sylvia ("Work done",etc., "face looks harsh"),probably YOUR posts?! are insulting.
You WON'T intimidate me! (I hope, this post will be published, please).
Pauline
When some writes she/he hopes, that a comment will be published, she/he knows, that this comment is not appropiate. I would consider that in the future.
DeleteIntimidating? Come on :)
DeleteMy dear, you only got comments on your comment, thatˋs all.
DeleteIt's not "some writes " but someone who writes. Basic grammar.
DeleteI thank the editor of this blog to allow me to express my opinion.
Thank you.

Always the last word...
DeleteDear Pauline, please consider (or reflect?), that some of us are not english speaking, but french, italian, german, spanish etc. We all try our best. e.
Delete08.02: Amen!
DeleteTo Anon. 19:46, 16.04.
ReplyDeletePlease do not judge other people's face ("work done","hair dyed, which makes her look harsh" etc) this can hurt. Also remarks like: "Get this woman a stylist" on Q. Maxima - this can hurt!!!! And lots of other remarks!!!! Pauline
Pauline, keep cool! But think about the comments.
DeletePauline, you are best off sticking to fashion. Just like commenting on a person's face, which is a part of their BODY, commenting on weight is wrong. You can never be forgiven for negative comments about a person's body. Your comment would be deleted on other sites, and if you persisted in making them, you would be banned. It makes no difference if you are speaking to Christian in person or not. Others are reading your words and the message carries the same weight to those who are struggling or are sensitive about similar issues. Lastly, it is none of your business! Worry about your own body.
DeleteAgree to 05.35
DeleteAm I the only one who thinks that trouser suits look too business for a birthday occasion?. A dress, skirt with some top etc. would be more appropriate. The two sisters-in-law look gorgeous though.
ReplyDeleteChristian definitely looks changed but he is too young and he will change a lot through the years to come.
Please expand the balcony, it's so small compare to the Buckingham's balcony.
ReplyDeleteOkay, let's build a new palace :))
DeleteAnon 12:43 That's because it's a different balcony and a different palace.
DeleteActually there are three balconies on that fassade.
