Alexandra looks lovely and truly happy. I do like the satin fabric of her wedding gown. I wish the design had been less imprisoned by stiff strapping. MT, mother-of-the-bride, stuns in a horrific black jumpsuit with a bright green floral carbuncle squished against and larger than her head. Absolutely the worst mother-of-the-bride outfit I’ve seen on a royal blog. The groom’s mother is refreshingly lovely in a delicate blue with floral overlay. Stephanie looks very well so soon postpartum in sparkling navy Elie Saab and Claire is OK for a sunny Spring wedding.

Elie Saab didn't make a wedding dress - it is one dress of his last model show in some brownish color. For me Princess Stephanie was the elegantest lady here in her Elie Saab gown & her lovely smile... chapeau after the birth only some weeks ago

  8. Great look on the bride. She seemed to be over the moon, as was her husband. I also think that HGD Stephanie did well in her choice of dress. The Zuhair Murad number on Princess Claire is a great colour on her, though I am not a great fan of these Carmen-style off-the-shoulder looks. And then GD Maria Teresa. Good Gracious! You need to be a tall, slender person to pull that jumpsuit off. All else is simply not working.

    1. I need to add that - looking at the pictures one day after - there indeed seems to have been a, however mildly, colour theme for this wedding. The page boys and flower girls are dressed in hues of blue, as is the groom's mother. She and HGD Stephanie (plus a bridesmaid, as far as I can see) were the only female adults to be dressed accordingly. GD Maria Teresa tried hard with that dark navy, but otherwise failed completely.

The bride looks good. I am not sure about the other female relatives/ guests etc.. Starting with the bride's mother, she isn't tall and not really slim - aren't those green embellishments, especially that green flower on one shoulder too big for her petite figure? Clare's red Carmen-style dress - I am not a fan nor of the blue gown, Stéphanie wore. I think the bride, the Grand Duke and the groom were elegant. And I didn't like the "mixture" of colours, styles etc. in the outfits of the ladies who were some sort of bridesmaids, helping the bride with her veil.
But they all looked very happy, a happy family gathering.

  15. What a beautiful bride. And handsome groom. Love the dress, though would like to see a proper photo from the front, and the sparkly veil. She looks gorgeous. Not a fan of GD Maria Theresa's outfit at all. A black or even dark navy trouser suit for the mother of the bride?? While the green may brighten it up, the huge shoulder rosette is just odd. Princess Stephanie and Princess Claire look good. Kudos to Princess Stephanie for getting back into shape so well. You'd not think that she had given birth just a month ago. Looks like a fab day for the whole family.

I knew she would go for a more clean, classy look than the floral/lacy gowns previously seen on the royal brides of Luxembourg. 17. Aside from the bride, I think the mother of the groom is the bestdressed.of the women featured in the photos. Her pale blue gown was modest with delicate embellishments. The comments from the original poster stated the obvious, after all it is each person's perception, and no need to belittle the original poster. I agree with him or her, the dress and civil suit were meant to distract attention, not garner praise. Also the mother of the bride wore a hideous outfit, and pants, to her only daughter's wedding. Not a big fan of the wedding dress but it surely is different and Alexandra looks so happy and beautiful! Maria Teresa's outfit is a horror..what was she thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous29/4/23 23:42

Oh my! Firstly, Alexandra looks radiant--her veil and tiara are beautiful together. Her gown--a disappointment and a disappointment from Elie Saab who makes such gorgeous gowns too. I like that the fabric is such lustrous satin but the heavy criss-crossing in the bodice put bunchy material across her chest and her stomach--not flattering. I also think the long sleeves on the runway version are a vast improvement over the sleeveless version of the wedding dress. Again, Stephanie deserves an award for getting so dressed up and out of the house for a glamorous wedding--her gown looks lovely and she looks so happy. Quite disappointed in Claire's choice--it really doesn't flatter her although the color is flattering. Maria Theresa's choice is horrid, absolutely awful without a single redeeming comment possible. I cannot of the life of me understand what she was thinking by choosing this horror to wear to the wedding of her only daughter. Perhaps if Elile Saab convinced her to remove that hideous lettuce head off her shoulder? Still, black for her daughter's wedding? Not to mention it is a jumpsuit which is absolutely unflattering on her. The only people (guests) whose attire is wonderful are the mother of the groom, whose blue gown is elegant, and the Grand Duke who almost always look elegant and debonaire.

It seems man of the Ladies did not know what to wear? The outfit GDss MT wore looked nice by itself, but with that huge green salad head was not that great, I belief that they all could have done better. The best dressed IMO was Nicolas Mother, color and style I am not a fan of the Wedding gown. But than again I am not the one wearing it. This is not about the fashions but the happiness of Alexandra and Nicolas. I wish them the best for the future. Yes they really looked happy.

  23. The bride looks happy in her wedding dress. The skirt pattern is a bit boring and ruins the whole dress. The mother of the bride's outfit is not flattering. And it is a no-go to wear black at a wedding. What was the Grand Duchess thinking to wear a black jumpsuit to the wedding of her only daughter? And the off-shoulder Carmen-dress of Princess Claire is also a no-go for a ceremony in a church. You have to cover your shoulders in a Catholic church. The dress of Stephanie is lovely but too dark and sombre for a wedding.

Maria Teresa is determined to wear what she likes, not what favors her. I would have much preferred if she had worn a dress for the religious ceremony since it is a formal event. She could have gotten away with an iteration of what she is wearing if it had been a gown instead of a jumpsuit and the flower had been halved in size.

I prefer the model's gown over Alexandra's. The fabric on Alexandra's gown is bulkier, making the draping thicker. I think it would have flattered her more if it had been more delicate.

  25. The bride looks radiant and happy. I don't like her gown, the criss cross features add bulk side on view. The choice of tiara I am not a fan of, the earrings are lacking substance.
GD MT, this jumpsuit looked better on the model photo I saw, she was quite tall. This outfit does not do the GD justice.
Stephanie's blue lace gown is beautiful, but not for daytime, she looks very pretty.

The mother of the bride looked beautiful, tasteful, elegant and very feminine dress.

Love the off white/ivory colour of the wedding dress. The veil is delicate & pretty. Hair looks good up simple & elegant & like the natural make-up. The dress love the skirt part it flows the bodice is a bit of a hit & miss. The hit is the pleated effect the miss is it doesn't flatter Alexandra's figure it looks bulky & the v neck appears a little low. Princess Claire as always is a winner in the fashion stakes. As for Maria Teresa as harsh as it sounds what is that thing on her, weird thumbs down . Mary

I specify that it can be seen that the bride is happy, she's a pretty girl and it's clear that it's a happy day for everyone present.
But here we are talking about outfits and there isn't a dress that I like.
After Stefanie and Claire's wedding dresses, which I found beautiful, I really don't like this one, especially because it doesn't flatter the bride.
He squeezes her breasts and spreads her hips.
A no also for the mother of the bride: she seems to have no neck, no bust, no waist.
I think an A-line dress would have been better for Stefanie, as she has just given birth a few days ago.
And the color is too dark.
Claire's dress would have survived if it weren't for that low neckline.
The mother of the groom appears to be wearing a country dress and the girl in orange would be better suited for a stroll along the seafront.
Unfortunately I don't save even one dress, but the important thing in the end is that it was a good day for them.

Well everything has been said. From what I saw on other websites and video's this wedding was a happy family gathering in the south of France, near the family villa of GD Henri and GD M Teresa in Cabasson not far from Bormes-les-Mimosas. I think everyone could wear what they feel like. The most important thing is that the bride and groom looked very happy on this special day. The best fashion item on this wedding was Princess Alexandra's tiara (a crown jewel) and veil and her delicate make-up.

  32. Maria Teresa looks ridiculous in that outfit with the huge green thing (carbuncle is a good word to describe it). The bride looks happy but her dress does not fit her well and her tiara is not the best. The groom's mother looks nice. The men look pretty good. And that's about it.

Unfortunately, at this wedding none of the women were well dressed. The wedding dress just unflattering a lot because of these wide bands and makes the waist disappear completely. I can imagine such a dress only on very tall, flat/boyish/skinny women, like Princess Catherine or Gwyneth Paltrow.
Then I also don't understand these evening dresses for an afternoon wedding. Long dresses I understand if the celebration goes into the evening, but sequins, black taffeta and glitter I don't get. On top of that, it might fit for some places like downtown Manhattan, but not a sleepy village in the south of France. From the cut I find Claire's dress quite good, but the sequins are just over the top. the same issue with Stephanie. This is a dress for BAFTas, but not for a country wedding.
