Prince Louis of Wales made his debut at this church service. Prince George and Princess Charlotte of Wales had made their debuts at the same service last year. Easter Sunday 2023 is the first that the royal family spend without Queen Elizabeth after her death last September. The royal family usually spends the Easter holiday at Windsor Castle.

  1. Has anyone else noticed Catherine is wearing dark nail polish today, wonderful to see. The late Queen apparently never approved of it on royal ladies, its a first.
I think all the ladies look very elegant. Prince Louis on his best behavior practising for the Coronation, he has the cutest little smile.

Lo smalto è la prima cosa che ho notato, e finalmente direi!
Poi ho notato il bellissimo blu del suo abito ed il suo sorriso. Comunque tutti belli.

    2. The Queen never had problems with wearing bold nailcolours, lots of British royal ladies wore it during her reign. The rumours are all made up.

Diana, Sophie and others wore red nail polish. The issues was always to bring Meghan down and make her look bad.

If Queen Elizabeth was not against dark nail polish (dark red or another dark polish), how come we never saw Princess Catherine wearing it in public or on official events ?.

  4. Well, I also spotted the Earl of Wessex (former Visount Severn) at the walk to the Easter Sunday Service. Just for the sake of completion. Otherwise we have a lot of royal and cornflower blue here. We'd had a ton of it in the last couple of days/weeks, in particular from Queen Camilla. It suits her, no question, still I'd like to see her in different colours now for a change. I like Princess Beatrice's outfit (need a better picture to better evaluate, though) most, I think.

Oh dear. There's a lot going on here and nothing fully convinces me. Except Zara! She wins the fashion game by a mile here! The spring-y pink, the florals, the matching shoes, the button detail for some interest - well done!

The rest is "nice" at best. Camilla looks much better with bigger hats, the fascinator dumped on her rather voluminous hair looks a bit silly. I also don't think she should've colour-matched with Catherine exactly. It's VERY blue. Catherine's coat of course looks great, but I wish her hat was worn in an actual pillbox style to avoid looking like a flight attendant. Her shoes look out of place with the sea of blue. Sophie chose a wonderful colour for her coat, but the rest is giving "mad hatter" vibes. Too shapeless, too big and the heavy winter boots aren't helping with the overall look.

Eugenie and Beatrice look good. Nothing spectacular, but very appropriate. As does Anne. Her coat is giving winter vibes, but overall she's the most consistent of the bunch. So nope, there's a lot of room for improvement!

I agree about the fascinator on Camilla. She looks better in bigger millinery - this was way too small. I basically agree about everything else. I believe Beatrice has lost some weight so the dress was a bit big on her. I get tired of the Catherine Walker dress coats. CJ

According to their arrangements, she was and is "only" a lady. Maybe she got a little angry and didn't have a good day to parade. She had nothing to be happy about. Since her cousins in the same arrangement the daughter of Prince 2 Bea and Eugenia (the queen's son) are princesses and she is the daughter of the third son, unfortunately she is only a lady and is not a princess. I'm sure she's very sorry. She probably thought if her father was a prince, she'd be a princess, too. She's not even a countess because her younger brother is a count. That's weird.

      Delete
    2. I am sorry, Anon16:00 that you obviously didn't understand one thing. 1. Lady Louise is at University right now, that is what CVC was referring to in her comment. Nothing about titles, or being angry, or things like that. 2. She was able to chose when she turned 18 (with the late Queen still living, so this would be according to the Letters Patent of King George V) to keep her low-key title of "Lady", or to be called Princess Louise. Well, guess what she chose? It had nothing to do with belittling her. Still, except for the direct line of succesion (applies only to those being born after 2013), the male primogeniture is in place. Meaning that the male descendant inherits the title. That is why the Earl of Spencer was the heir and not his oldest sister Lady Sarah. This also is why James, son of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, now is Earl of Wessex. But if it makes you feel better: James will not inherit the Edinburgh dukedom. It is given to his father, Prince Edward, only as life-peerage. He (James) will remain the Earl of Wessex for as long as he lives.

      That Anon 16.00
What you claim is your fabrications. Unbelievable. Shameful. You are attacking a girl who has NEVER, EVER caused any embarrassment to the royal family. Lady Louise always behaved exemplary and very shy in public. She is a beautiful young woman (even without tons of makeup), she has beautiful blond hair and blue eyes. English rose - indeed. She doesn't need a title to impress.

    4. Anonymous9/4/23 22:03

Think you have this a bit confused. The Earl & Countess of Wessex chose not to use the titles of Princess and Prince for their children. However Lady Louise ( and James in due course) had the option of deciding to use the title Princess when she became 18. She has obviously not done so. James takes his father’s subsidiary title as is the case with families of the older generation eg Earl of St Andrews ( son of the Duke of Kent), Lady Helen Windsor etc

I'm sure she couldn't give a stuff - her parents made the decisions for the life they thought she is going to lead.

Her brother isn't a Count because that title doesn't exist in the UK and she wouldn't be a Countess because of that anyway.

What a load of ridiculous nonsense - she's probably just enjoying a well-deserved break before she has to do exams next term.

      Delete
    6. I don't think it's fair to speculate what Sophie and Edward's children think about not having a courtesy title. I'm sure their parents thought long and hard whether their children should be burdened (and yes, probably it's a burden at times) with titles.
Probably the reason why she is not there is well-known to parents of teens and young adults anywhere: do teens and young adults want to spend each holiday going to church with their relatives? Maybe the young woman simply had other plans involving going abroad or visiting friends or the like.

All the ladies look lovely, but Beatrice is the winner for me today. She and Eugenie usually look frumpy, but today she looks wonderful. Camilla looks lovely, but her fascinator today is too small. She looks so much better with bigger hats. She would look better in Kate's hat, and vice versa. Kate's coat is really lovely, but.... It's her body shape. She has wide shoulders and almost no hips and is very thin, similar to Charlene of Monaco. Maybe her tailor should do something about her wardrobe that can emphasize her hips. Love Sophie's coat. But I think she would look better if her hat was just a little bit smaller.

Beatrice wins the best dressed title from me as well.

Whilst all ladies look fine, I personally dislike the queen consort’s and princess of Wales’ outfits. And Sophie looks like she thought she was going for Christmas service, not Easter matins.

I always likes Sarah Chatto’s simple but elegant style. She looks quite suitably classy today as well.

Zara’s dress should be a great choice, yet something is quite off in the way the photos are capturing her. Her hat however is fabulous. Best hat of the day.

I found myself thinking “too bad Carole Middleton isn’t invited as often to royal events (yes, I know, she was never invited for Easter). Would have liked to see what she’d had chosen for such occasion.

    2. I just noticed that it might well be that Princess Beatrice had her aunt's dress altered for her. It's the exact dress that Sophie, DoE, once had been wearing to Royal Ascot 2018. With Beatrice's loving to recycle dresses from the past, like she famously did with her wedding dress, it seems she did it again with Sophie's Emilia Wickstead number. Had it taken in, added a belt - voilà the perfect re-wear.

could William's family have been sent to the end of the royal procession at the last moment by those in charge of protocol because the color of Kate's clothes clashed with the clothes of the king and queen? Wasn't she still such a rosé person after so many years of being a duchess that she hadn't agreed on this color before? By the way, weren't Kate's parents among those people in the royal procession? (a woman with a light hat and a light gray wide skirt and a man next to Princess Anne's husband). Does this have anything to do with the "compensation" that Prince George will be in the king's retinue at the coronation?

As much as I want to like the POW’s outfit , I just can’t, not that is not a good design, is just that she seems to have adopted an uniform for these occasions, is always the same, not to mention that amongst the multitude of dress coats she owns, I have seen better. I know that Queen Elizabeth used to do the same, but much later in life, not in her younger years. Anne looks the most elegant in my opinion, and Beatrice had the most original outfit along with Zara , Camilla same has usual , and Sophie’s coat is nice, but the hat and boots spoil the outfit.

Fabulous photos. And so many great outfits. Princess Beatrice looks fantastic as does Princess Anne. Love the bright blue worn by the Queen Consort and Princess of Wales, both very much in their usual styles. The Duchess of Edinburgh looks lovely, the Duke looks less fragile and the new Earl of Wessex has grown inches since last autumn. Zara’s pink is a little too bubblegum for me but her girls look great as do the Wales children. Terrific to see them altogether on a happy occasion.

The Princess Royal looks fabulous!! Catherine is also terrific in the blue coat, with unique collar, matching hat and bag. Beatrice has on a dress that looks good with the belt, not fond of the trim on the shoulders and sleeves. Also not thrilled with the small headpiece Camilla is wearing, nor the boots and hat Sophie is wearing. The pink coat could have been fantastic with different hat and boots. Zara's dress seems rather odd, and does not match with the hat. Bea's dress and coat appear to be the same thing she wore to a wedding a few days ago, hope she had the button sewn back on (it was missing on the right side). I've walked where they were walking, cannot imagine doing it such high heels. Noticed Camilla's shoes seem to have a thick tread type sole, not particularly attractive, but good traction for an older woman. Edwina
